anything in particular that you have had success with?
-
Looking to play a great foursome game with my teammates and we have tried it all. We've played wolf, scotch, and all the common games including skins and low ball/total. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to play next? We just want something new. Thanks!

I'm not working on anything in particular, I'm just trying to get a ball flight on a ball. I'm used to a high draw, and then when I see my shadow, I'm so distracted that it puts a weak, slap cut on the ball. It's so demoralizing and almost makes me want to stop playing, because I don't see overcoming it!
-
This is different from any mental block i've had. I can't even synchronize my swing. I hate it. It begins with believing I can overcome this, which I do, I just don't know a step to take.

Ok guys, this is going to sound crazy, but I have lost my game when I'm standing over my shadow. I'm a pretty good player, and for someone of my nature to be struggling like this, with something this small concerns me, and it's KILLING my game. When my shadow is behind me, or to either side of me, it's not a problem. I make a GREAT golf swing I can get though, and it goes nice and high with a 5 yard draw. When my shadow is right over my ball, its a whole different story, I honestly have NO idea where it is going. My body just doesn't seem connected at all. During a tournament round I will turn around to where I don't see my shadow and try to get the same rhythm, and then step up to the ball. It's SO FRUSTRATING. I score very well when I have a relatively low amount of "shadow swings." Anyone have any remedies. I've tried just concentrating on the ball, swinging with eyes closed, NOTHING.

I mean how do I present the idea to him? How to get him to "buy into" the idea.
-
How do you guys suggest going to the head pro with this idea?

That comes with confidence. Can you hit the shot you intend? Yes? Have you hit the shot before? Yes? That doesn't mean aim to the right side and magically you might hook one, it means don't let the slice hold you back from your game. Take the left side of the course out of play. Play with what you have that day. Aim left side of the fairway, if it stays there straight, fine... If it slices back, take it and move onto the next shot. You'll miss some greens if you are struggling, the trick is to not get FRUSTRATED with it. Say to yourself, yeah I can get up and down, I do it all the time on the putting/chipping green, so this is nothing. Sounds simple, but it's a tough thing to master.

Please remember this guy had to change from that swing because it tore his knee to shreds.........

Thanks a ton! You have no idea how much I appreciate your help. Shallow to steep produces some speed? What we were working on, to tighten it up a little at the top, I would place a glove under my left arm. It felt ALOT more connected, which I think is a good thing of course. I'm open to any suggestions. I just want to get my first collegiate victory under my belt. Thanks.

Once again, I thank you so much for your help. I have one more question though. As for the shallow to steep down swing, changing the setup will allow my hands to get in a better position at the top? Which in turn allows me to be on more of the correct plane the full time? Thanks always --- Nick

I see a bit of a re-route on the way down possibly? Swing feels GREAT though. I feel like I can swing as hard as I want at the ball. Tonight me and my coach were working on keeping my left arm more connected to my body at the top. "keeping the triangle"

Watching Tiger coverage in Abu last night. I was noticing he was being out driven by Rory and the other guy up to 60 yards at some holes. Does Haney actually have something by talking about Tiger lifting TO much?
-
I will upload 2 new videos tomorrow night as well. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to make those pictures. I truly appreciate it.

Lift ----- back to what you said to that. I worked on this today, and it did feel good. I saw the article and saw the many demonstrations from pros including Tiger Woods and you sold me on it. Back to the lift though. What is something I can do so I don't just "lift" like you said. I'm assuming you mean lift the arms rather than turn?
-
I agree, to fix this bend over a bit more? Thats what I got from the link?

I've been Playing Golf for: ------ 8 years My current handicap index or average score is: ------ 3 My typical ball flight is: ------ Draw, Push The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: ----- Weak slice/cut Hey guys, Just wanted to show you what I'm working on. I'm trying to get this new stance at 100%. Basically, I'm bent more at the hip so my butt sticks out more, and lifting my chin, so it allows my shoulders to rotate freely and get all the way behind the ball. I have provided my trackman numbers as well. I want to build a swing where I can keep my power, and use it to my advantage, rather than losing it, and trying the control game. The video and trackman are with 7 iron. With my eyes, I think the video looks like I may pull it a bit, but it may be due to camera angle, I'm not 100% though. Thanks

Well Wes, do you have a road ahead of you! High school golf is soon approaching, and you need to ENJOY it! I remember by the time I was a senior, I almost hated golf. I was so motivated to play college golf, that playing, and getting better became more of a chore, and hassle than it was fun. That being said, you're brother plays at NC State. He's got all the information you need on what you have to do. E-mail coaches a resume, including your all of your stats from summer tournaments, as well as your grades. I also included why I was interested in the school. It shows the coach that he doesn't have to actually "recruit" you, because you are already interested. It's never to late to start the process. Enjoy doing it!

We are trying to make a little money for our golf program here at the university, and we were brainstorming. I came up with the idea of a junior golf camp. We have a better schedule than a lot of schools, and I would like to keep it that way. The problem is, I don't know where to begin. I have to talk to our AD still, about us working with children (thanks Sandusky), and also the golf course. I have yet to find out how much they would charge for 3 hours a day for a weekend. My question is, where do I begin? What kind of games do the kids play. I was thinking about if we had 60 people show up, we would divide them into 4 groups and have 30 minutes or so at each station. Stations being chipping, putting, full swing, and etiquette. I have read previous posts about it, but I would like a little help. Thanks always, Nick

The ball splashed, and there was rocks in the bank... it had to hit a rock and bounce up... it was a lucky break, but I guess i should've been playing the ball in the bunker (my third shot) still?
-
Sorry guys, just got out of class..... I DID in fact announce that my ball was a provisional.... I said exactly "I'm hitting a provisional, and I choose to re-tee because I think that would be the best option" (instead of hitting a 3 wood 5 yards in front of the teebox with no tee)
-
Yesterday, playing with a buddy, We had this par 4, where all along the left and the front of the tee box was water. I hit my drive to the left and we saw a SPLASH, in the bank, I figured that it was in the water. I hit a "provisional" with my tee ball and it ended up in the right bunker. We get up to look for the ball just in case, and there it lays, inches inside the hazard stake. What would be the correct play? I just learned yesterday that I should not have hit a provisional for that ball. CAN I legally hit the ball in the hazard, or do I have to play it as a stake and take my drop? Or do I get a penalty for hitting a provisional? I'll let you guys answer and then I'll tell you how I proceeded.

^ this If you've ever been to a tour event, you see they all hit the same shots, same ball flight (predominately)...
-
Just telling you from what I've learned from playing around better players. They hit shots I didn't even see in my arsenal. Played at a pub links with a kid that played at Indiana University. He had 230 over a waste bunker uphill into a 15-20 MPH wind... What does he do? Rips 3 wood just over the green, gets up and down, and makes a birdie.... It just opened my eyes to how to play. To play aggressive and trust yourself. He makes birdie, I make a par, which isn't a bad score, but there are just ways to score out there.
