  1. well guys i decided to go with last years r7 460. its a 10.5 stiff. i bid on it last night on ebay and got it for $175. -matt
  2. i'm from middle river, i play rocky point all the time, i consider it my home course. i haven't played compass point yet. i love rocky point, have you played it recently? the opened it up a hole lot. like on 10 all along the bay on the right they cleared out. same with 15 on the right. they also added alot of fairway bunkers and narrowed all the fronts of the greens where the fairways end. really nice down there now, and for $42 cant beat it. -matt
  3. thanks for the analysis and compliments. i played yesterday and i think it is a mental issue i need to work on. i was playing arround on the range afterward. i shut the club real bad like on a 45* angle and i still hit it slighty to the right. i seriously need to relax and trust my swing. but it'll come back, i am confident. -matt
  4. so what do you guys think was the best model. i know it will differ for each player. i was never really good with a driver and i always had a slight fade for forgiveness is important to me. i think i should get last years r7 460. i've seen a couple on ebay sell for under 200 new.
  5. I am interested in putting a driver back in my bag and was looking at the r7's. i went to mammoth and swung the new superquad and the burner. did not like the burner at all, it was way to light for me. i know last years R7 460 only had two weights and the superquad has four. other than that what are the differences. they dont sell last years r7 anymore. i'm not interested in changing ball flight but i do like the idea of the weights to help fix my 10yd fade i cant seem to get rid of. thanks for any help. -matt
  6. here is another video but with my driver from a side angle. and yes again the birds are chirping. -matt http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=DSCN0236.flv
  7. yes those are birds i live in the noisiest neighborhood ever. and yes i know i stop well short of parralel. i really dont see the need to take the club back that far. i hit my 8 iron around 150 and to me a longer swing has more room for error. i tryed what you said and it does feel like i'm lagging the clubface open. i dont feel it really. how the how do i fix that? -matt
  8. i play this shot with my 3 wood cause i temorarily retired my driver until i figure what i'm doing wrong with it. with my driver i would hit like 6-7/14 fairways about 260-280 now with my 3-wood i'm hitting like 10-11/14 at around 230-240. this is much better for my game until i fix my driver. i am not one of those people that think it doesn't matter where you hit it as long as its long. i'd rather hit fairways and it has helped my score even if now i'm hitting a 4iron into a green i'm used to hitting a 7iron. -matt
  9. well guys i have devoloped a problem recently with my irons, all of them including the short ones. I am flaring them out to the right about 20yds off target line and a loss of about 10-15yds. i can usually work a draw if i pull my right foot back at adress and roll my right hand alittle over the top on my grip. If i try as hard as i can to hook it it might go straight but still cuts alittle. Let me know what you guys. Thanks. I'll put videos up in a little bit they are taking awhile to upload. -matt here's the video http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n...=8ironyard.flv
  10. I am a 21 year old construction equipment mechanic. Not your typical job for a golf addict. I usually keep a wedge in my service truck with some balls so when i go out on a sight and have some down time. -matt
  11. cool man, yeah you need to have atleast 3 posts before you can create a thread. -matt
  12. thanks i'll give it a shot -matt
  13. well i played my home track Rocky Point on Wednesday and things didn't go so well. I retired my driver last week after only hitting one fairway and still shooting an 84 at Clifton Park. Anyway I ended up with a 93. I just did not strike the ball well at all. no excuses, weather was nice, course was in great shape. This is what keeps me diggin. Well i'll hit the range a couple time before i go back out. -matt
  14. my problem is that i dont really strike down and trap the ball like i'm supposed to. i hardly ever take a divot and really dont generate a whole lot of spin with my 7-3iron. my low irons are ok because i hit the ball high. i have watched video of my swing and my hands are exactly over top the ball at impact and opposed to ahead of the ball where they are supposed to be. when i try to practice and work on this and get my hands foward of the ball i push them out to the right big time. if anyone knows anything to help that would be great. -matt
  15. Hey guys I have been golfing for around 11 years now and i am 21. I just started trying to be good about 2 years ago. I absolutely love golf, all parts, the range, the putting and hitting little flops in the living room over the coffee table, and yes the best part, beating my Dad who is a 6 handicap. I joined this board becuase lately i cant stop thinking about golf, all i want to do is go to the range to get better. atleast now when i'm thinkin about golf and cant play i can talk about it. I hope to learn alot and maybe shed some of my young wisdom arround. -matt
  16. well, i would start with your driver, you want to go somewhere that measure you clubhead speed and launch angle. this will set you in what shaft flex and loft to get. then i would get a 3 wood to match. next is hybrids, these replace long irons and can be used as a driving iron. lofts vary between 16* and 25* depending on what irons you want to replace. Now the irons, many people immediatly look at blade irons or something of the same. i would definately suggest "game improvement" irons. in my opinion the benefits dont outway the risks when it comes to blades. wedges and putters are more or less a feel and comfort thing. you see something and you like the way it looks or feels then it will prolly work for you. hope this helps and please dont take it as gospel. thanks and good luck -matt
  17. you are more or less right. the not cocking of the wrist will result in the club face staying shut. but that is not all that opens the face, the rolling your left arm over top of your right arm will also help open you club face. glad you got it taken care of and hope this helped. -matt
  18. i hover my driver now because i was hitting alot of shots off the heal. if you rest your driver and setup and move the head to where it would be at impact, the ball would be on the heel of the face. it has helped me alot. -matt
