  1. I could tell by the Pinnacle as your avatar you have no interest in equipment, the post wasn't even necessary
  2. I'd just get into doing some distance control work with my 56. choke down to an exact spot on the club(3 inches is good) or only make a backswing 3/4 of the way to the top, even rank amatuers can control distance effectively by choking down and only taking a half(50 yards), a quarter(30) or 3/4(100 yards) I would guess that you'll hit a 60* wedge about 90 yards now, but that 100-115 gap is rarely a full swing for anyone. I like to hit a 50% pitching wedge.
  3. If you're worried about proper feedback, spend about 50 bucks on ebay for some 1960'd forged blades, I promise, if you hit it good, you'll know it. If you don't hit it good, you'll know it even quicker. If you don't hit those things on the sweetspot the club jerks open(toe) and if you can groove several in a row its about as good a practice as you can get.
  4. Pull the trigger on the net, if you have kids tell the wife its for them too. Walking outside and making a full golf swing or feeling good contact on a full swing can be very rewarding in your own back yard, and it beats just about anything probably going on inside the house.
  5. I took my Adams RPM 5w out of the bag after I saw the same distance from an 18* Cobra Baffler Rail H, its much easier to hit consistantly from tee to rough to fairway. The one thing is if you have to hit a high shot that stops fast, I just dont have a high cut fade that stops on a dime from 225 in my game, so no big deal to drop the 5 wood, hehe
  6. I hit a 16* hybrid very well and I also bag a 3 wood, no 5 wood though. I would say there is a 30-40 yard difference between my Callaway X 3 wood to my Taylormade rescue 16*, I hit both off the tee sometimes, one I use for 2-3 iron shots, one for 3 woods shots. Its all how you picture the ballflight IMHO
  7. Who the heck is OLIMAR? I'm guessing Furyk didn't grow the brand with his bigger-than-life personality and dashing looks? -Thats great stuff. Maybe he is the second most marketable athlete in the world but 10 years is a long time, and not many guys have a 10 year run in them in pro golf today, just my opinion. I know if you add up all the money they make it may seem an easy leap but $250 million? Thats two and a half careers as good as tiger's in tourney earnings. Think about how much money that is, and I realize this guy is much, much more marketable than Paddy Harrington, but had Nike inked him to this kind of deal in 2008 they would be eating it now. Anyway, really interesting forum.
  8. The tournament was one of the best I have ever watched. That said, if not for a 60-some foot putt Dufner would have won. If not for 3 straight Bogeys Dufner would have won. I guess thats what makes golf such a great game and challenge, because I agree with almost every response. Too bad for Jason Dufner What-If's aren't a part of history. I have to say I was pulling for him after the first few holes Sunday. The guy has Tempo. Even if he has never won or never comes close again.
  9. Can 20 handicappers hit a drive 300+ yards? Some. probably not very accurate on approach shots at this point Can you hit at a group if they hit into you first? Aim, take a shot. Chances are very low you'll actually hit anyone. Should high cappers play blades No. They should play par 3 courses Are Scotty Cameron putters, TM Drivers and Callaway irons worth the money? Why of course ;) Would Tiger have beat Jacks records if the accident wasnt fatal? Without a doubt... his wife would be the most sympathetic figure in the country Is Bubba Watson a jerk or are the French just too sensitive... both Are Phil's man boobs real or implants? still up for debate
  10. Everything was stock, X-stiff flex. Driver WAS 9.5 Degrees. Always use game improvement irons because I can use the help. We all can. I was fit for a driver and shocked to learn that I should cut 2" off the shaft and use a stiff flex 12.5 loft. I cut the shaft, really noticed a difference not swinging near as hard. thanks for responding. I suppose my question doesn't belong in the excercise and fitness section.
  11. There is one simple swing-thought that I have seen help a lot of golfers with a slice they can't fix. make a dot with a marker to the left side of the logo on any ball. Place the logo facing the clubhead, with the dot at about 7 o clock, (inside the logo) and swing to crush the dot.(can also be done w/o a dot, simply turn the logo inside) the swing-thought is to crush that logo, which seems like it would cause an even worse slice. What happens is you make a much flatter swing, promoting a better MOI, and making it seem easier to swing under control. This helps your club-speed, gets your body and hands working together, and all you have to do is focus more on the inside of the ball. push it out. follow through. swing easy, let your body do the work.
  12. Have you measured you height, wrist to floor distance and put it into a online club fitting program? It honestly could be too stiff, if going right, it also may be as simple as lifting your head when you swing harder and not staying down in your swing posture. I would research club fitting. Also if you hit an 8 iron 155 or more you should be using an S flex shaft. Play around with these different ideas, it is most likely easily curable.
  13. I have taught myself to play golf over the last 4-5 years starting with nothing but a PW. I developed a very strong short game using a 20$ Lob Wedge as my go to crutch, and have gotten to the point where I can hit to almost any spot up to 160 yards(RAZR X 8 iron) and as I begin to add length I lose consistency. I will hit a high percentage of 7, 6, and 5 irons(razr x) and 3(baffler rail H) and 4(23* no name) straight and high I just never feel confident with anything below my 8 iron, which I could kill maybe 180 yards, but that wouldn't be very efficient. Any mirace tips and tricks for a better long game that worked for someone, an uncle, brother, I could use anything.
