  1. My girlfriend just started playing golf. She now needs a driver. What are you thoughts on the driver/woods here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/spo/2583826220.html They look like a good deal. Has anyone had any experience with them?
  2. Thanks to everyone who gave me useful tips. Nice analogy with the car bra there haha.
  3. i just got a set of new Mizuno JPX 800 pro. They look so beautiful and I would like to try to keep it that way for as long as possible. I already have neoprene head covers that I plan to keep on whenever I transport them. That should prevent some club chatter and minor dings. I need some advice on how to clean them during and after a round of golf. I use the Frogger brush to clean my clubs off on the course. Does using wire brushes scratch forged irons over a period of time? I also keep a towel with me to wipe off after every shot. After a round of golf, what would be the best way to clean off the irons well. I used to clean my irons off with a clorox wipe and a paper towel. Does anyone else do this? Sometimes I run them under the faucet and dry them with a paper towel afterwards. Any thoughts?
  4. What about the wrist cock at the top of the swing could cause this? Is it possibly from over breaking the wrist?
  5. I started playing golf about 3 months ago. I learned on a set of Mizuno MP-14 Blades. They were passed down to me. Needless to say, they were hard for me to hit. I would hit the ball well about 50% of the time, and the other 50% the ball would go nowhere near where I wanted it to go. It has now gotten to the point where I feel like I need to change clubs. Currently, I average between a bogey and double bogey on a round of golf. I am looking for something that will give me forgiveness now, but not too much so that I could use the irons for a long time. I am also looking for something forged. Nothing compares to the way forged irons feel when hit. The irons that really catch my eye right now are the Mizuno JPX-800 Pro and Titleist 710 CB. I like the way that they look and the reviews online say they're pretty forgiving, yet giving you control of the ball still. Are there any other suggestions out there? I would hope to spend under $400, but willing to cough up more if it is worth it. If anyone is interested in the set of MP-14 I am selling, you could check it out here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/spo/2587454624.html $300 includes shipping and head covers. IT COULD BE YOURS!
  6. Oh I almost forgot about that exercise. I used to do that years ago when I used to play tennis.
  7. I strongly recommend V1 Golf Academy app for Android and iPhone. Someone mentioned it above earlier, but it is worth mentioning again because of its ease of use and effectiveness.
  8. Zack, thanks for posting pictures of the wedges to show me what a used Callaway wedge looks like. I will be expecting it to look like that soon. Thanks to everyone else who responded!
  9. Thanks for all the help everyone!
  10. I have been experiencing wrist pain in my leading hand's wrist. It might be caused from overuse, it might be caused from not hitting the balls on the sweet spot. Whatever the cause is, I was wondering what kind of stretches and tips you guys recommend because I feel like it is a common problem for golfers. The pain is kind of like a sharp pain, that is felt around the boney side of the wrist, on the pinky side. It only hurts when I rotate the wrist. No pain is felt while I keep it still or while I type this entry. I feel like the right way to treat this is to not practice so much. However, I am fully addicted to golf and feel like I need to practice everyday. I have been playing for about three months now, and the pain just recently occurred. I was wondering if there was any strength training exercises for the wrist.
  11. My HC index is not an official one.
  12. I am still fairly new to the game and have not tried a whole lot of putters yet. But I would say that the putter that I have been using lately, Odyssey White Ice #1 has a pretty heavy head and a light shaft. The shaft is only 33" long as well, which may be slightly lighter than longer putters. If you want something with an even heavier head, go and try the Odyssey White Ice 2 Ball Blade Putter. The best way to find out what works for you is to go to a golf shop and test out many different putters. Each person has a different feel and preference
  13. Wow. So that's what my wedges will look like in a couple of months. Is the 60* wedge the wedge you use the most often?
  14. Yea. I love the way my wedges feel. Do you mind me asking what schools you were planning on applying to?
  15. Haha. I wish I had the money to replace clubs every five rounds. I was just wondering if this was normal wear and tear for a new wedge because it is my first wedge. Recently, I have been questioning its authenticity because it seemed like the sole was getting worn down relatively quickly. I was also feeling skeptical because I bought the wedges for such a cheap price on Craigslist. Besides the black coming off, the wedge feels and look authentic compared to the models that I see in Golfsmith. Thanks for giving me some more peace of mind guys!
  16. Here is a picture of the face. Some of the black coming off, but not too severely. It doesn't look as bad, so I didn't bother putting it up (GMAT in the background...fun stuff)
  17. Thanks! I'll keep that in mind, maybe I should carry 14 drivers haha
  18. I am still new to golf and learning something new about it everyday. I just read somewhere that supposedly, you are only allowed to have 14 clubs in the bag. Does the 14 include the putter? If so, then I would be in violation of the rule by 1 club :-/ Not that it really matters when I'm playing just for fun, but for future reference, I want to know this in case I join a local tournament.
  19. Yea..I did forget to mention that I go to the range often, about 2-3 times a week. What can I say, I'm addicted to golf. That could be the cause of my worn down clubs. haha
  20. Look at the picture and tell me if this is normal wear and tear on a Callaway X Series Vintage Jaws Wedge. I have used this wedge for about 5-10 rounds of golf. I have used it at least once a round to hit it out of a sand bunker. Besides that, it was never used to hit out of rocky areas or anything like that. This is my first set of vintage Callaway wedges, so I do not know how fast the black is supposed to turn into a metallic color. I hope I did not get ripped off by buying a fake set of wedges. As far as I know, they feel and sound really good when I hit it. They look and feel comparable to the ones that are in display at Golfsmith. After reading a lot of material on the internet about lots of people selling fake golf gear, I want to make sure that this wedge is 100% authentic, just to give me better peace of mind. The black color wearing off is the only thing making me question whether they're fake or real, so I wanted to know if this wear and tear was normal. Thanks in advance!
  21. Yea those are real. My friend also uses a set of MP-14, in a little worse shape. They look and feel exactly the same. I was also surprised by the good condition that they are in. The previous owner did not use it too often and if he did he would clean it after every round (which is what I have been doing as well) Which brings me to question should I resell these for a large profit? How much do you think they would be worth?
  22. I bought these set of Mizuno MP-14 from someone on Craigslist about two months ago. The previous owner took good care of the clubs because the clubheads were all really clean and barely had any dents and chips. Now I've recently noticed that on the 3-iron, there is a small gap forming between the iron and the black plastic thing that I think helps hold the head to the shaft. Anyways, its probably easier to understand what I'm talking about by just looking at the picture. All my other irons do not have this little gap between the little black thing and the clubhead. BTW I am able to move the black thing slightly so that I could lessen the gap, but the gap will still come back. Should I be concerned?
  23. I organize my Callaway X-22 Stand Bag this way... http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B002V9L94E/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index;=0
  24. Thanks for all the tips guys!
  25. Hi, I have been playing golf for about a month now and really need your guy's advice on my swing. I have not had any lessons yet, but have had friends give me some pointers. I would appreciate some pointers on some knowledgable individuals like you guys. I have attached 3 videos with different angles and different speeds. I am using the PW in all of the videos. Golf Swing PW - Read View: Golf Swing PW - Side View: Golf Swing PW - Slow Motion: (The annoying watermark on top is due to a free video converter.) I am hitting plastic golf balls with holes in them. Thanks in advance for any tip!
