  1. If tiger tees the ball up, you tee the ball up
  2. Very simple fix. On the backswing you or rotating the hands pulling the club way inside. You want to feel that you are hinging your wrist's straight up in the air almost as if you are picking the club straight up. It sounds crazy but it will get you in a better position and hitting ball first because from what im seeing in these videos you may struggle with contact.
  3. Good stuff! Thank you!!
  4. I've been Playing Golf for: 2 years My current handicap index or average score is:77-80 My typical ball flight is: small draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: heel I am usually a pretty good ball striker but I took some time off because I needed a break from the game and I come back to hitting heel shots and some shanks. Usually for me when I am shanking the club is way inside out and it's an easy fix. But I look at the video and im on plane pretty well so I am a little confused
  5. I am referring to a vertical wrist hinge. If you hinge straight up I cant see anyone getting the club inside?
  6. Not a bad swing at all a lot is in place. two things 1. Not swing related try not to stand over the ball as long. I can see you are thinking about things as you stand over it. Once you step and are ready, just pull the trigger you will play with a lot more freedom. 2. The backswing in basic terms is a mix of shoulder turn, or the around in a golf swing vs the amount of up or wrist hinge in the swing. To me you have too much "up" or wrist hinge in your swing causing a steep angle of attack and those shots flying left to right. I will guess the topped shots are coming from getting out ahead of the ball so here is what I would suggest. Try too feel no wrist's in the backswing. Just feel a Shoulder Turn . Also try to feel your right palm facing the ground longer when you take it back. Your wrists are working fine so more shoulder turn should get you on plane nicely. On the downswing just feel your head staying back and not racing out ahead and I think you will get rid of the tops. Remember if you ever get off plane it is just too much of one aspect, shoulder turn or around in the swing, or wrist hinge and up in the swing. Good luck!
  7. Actually the opposite happens. The backswing in basic terms is the shoulders bring the club around, and the wrist's bring the club up. To get to that good "on plane" postion you have to have the right amount of wrist hinge and shoulder turn. So if in theory a player is across the line, they just simply need more "up" or wrist hinge in the swing. So you are more prone to pull the club inside if you don't hinge early because you are starting the swing with the "around" or shoulder turn. For me, the quicker I can get that club up on the plane the better. Also if I hinge early and I am "set" all I have to do is complete my turn and the club will be on plane because I established that from the start. To me it is just a simpler move and it's how I was taught. Take a look at AK, or rory, and you'll see a very early set and then just a turn.
  8. The golf swing has essentially two parts. The shoulder turn mixed with the wrist hinge. The shoulder turn is the around and the wrist hinge is the up in the swing. If you are off plane ie across the line, laid off or whatever, its as simple as you have too much of either "up" or wrist hinge, or you have too much around with shoulder turn. I would try and feel as if you are picking the club straight up on the backswing. It sounds crazy and you wont be anywhere near it but it will even out your ratio.
  9. Yeah. I wish they would just place the camera on someone for a few minutes without commentary and just let them hit.
  10. Your ratio is a bit off. Try adding more wrist hinge
  11. When the show was first announced I was really excited but I rarely watch it now becuase all they talk about is the harmon brothers and all their students. It gets old. Anyone else feel the same?
  12. The quicker you get it up the better.
  13. you are folding your right arm only and hingeing the wrists. Width should be maintanied nautrally
  14. The elbow folds immediately off the ball. As you do this two things will happen 1. The elbow movement behind you forces the shoulders to turn. ie a "full" shoulder turn 2. Your wrist's will want to set, let that happen, its power. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI-l7GlZhss Watch zhang rehearse the elbow movement in the early parts of the video. Good Luck
  15. The club gets to the correct position at the top becuase of the elbow folding. You want the feel of your elbow almost mimicking the movement if you were to pull start a lawnmower. It moves back behind you. This is what gets the face squared up.
  16. Closed clubfaces only happen for two reasons. 1. The player moves the heel of the club first 2. Not enough elbow movement in the early stages of the backswing. You want the feel of almost as if you were pull starting a lawnmower. That is how the right elbow moves in the backswing, assuming she is a right handed player. But dont mess with it if it is not a problem. Many great players had closed clubfaces
  17. Lately I have been getting the club laid off and cant seem to stop. If you could look at it and give me some tips that would be great!
  18. As I said before, these are feels. Look at the video. It's not like my leg is staying perfectly flexed and not losing any flex at all. That is just my feel to keep it from being locked. Everyone has different feels.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8N-N4FEoMY Watch that video. Hips turn back maybe 45 degrees. Right leg stays flexed, and no lfiting of the arms. Also for me when I purposely turn my hips in the backswing it invites the club to go inside. It's really all a feel. Like I said my hips still turn and my right leg is not perfectly flexed. These are feels and If 70-80% of the best players in the world do it including world number 1, why should I not?
  20. I wasnt saying that you need height to hit the ball. I was saying it is unfair to compare corey pavin and bubba watson when they have completely different bodies and capabilities. And actually power does come from coiling. It's getting as much shoulder turn with the least amount of hip turn. It's the modern golf swing.
  21. Bubba is also 6'3 with a ridiculous arc. Corey is only 5'9 so that is irrelevant and yes I know why I restrict my hips in the backswing because it is part of coiling and power. If you watch the video it's not like my hips dont turn a degree or my leg stays perfectly flexed. That is my feeling. I dont want the "feeling of my hips turning in the backswing. It's power. Dustin johnson has a shoulder turn of 119 degrees with a 45 degree hip turn. That is power. And like I said it is all "feelings"
  22. What I mean is you want to feel the butt end of the grip hitting you in your left thigh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSG6kaiP6nQ Watch how duf really pulls the butt end of the grip toward his thigh. It is impossible to flip it from this position. When you look at it on video when your hands and club are about parallel your hands should be hidden by your hips. Take note in duf's swing how you cant see his hands right before you can see the club exit around his rib cage.
  23. The best way to cure your flip is simply with half shots. No impact bag needed. Flipping only happens when the hands go away from the body. The best feeling is that the grip hits you in your left thigh, assuming you are right handed. The drill is to hit half shots feeling this and hold your finish. When you look up after you have hit the ball, you should see the toe up just like in the takeaway. If you have flipped it you will see the toe down and the clubface closed. I struggle with this and got rid of this using this drill. The key is rotation and left. That is my swing thought.
  24. I understand that it will not fully stay flexed but I more or less try to restrict my hips in the backswing and keeping the right leg flexed and not letting it get locked is my feeling. It's just how I was taught. Since the leg will stay flexed on the downswing why purposely straighten it in the backswing.
  25. I personally try to keep my right leg flexed throughout the whole swing. 90 percent of the guys on tour do it so why should I not. I've gotten the swing a lot shorter with a tip from Anthony Kim. I was confused about matching turn with hinge and getting the club on plane without lifting. Anthony said that he folds his right arm and hinges the club right off the ball and from there his only thought was to turn and stay wide. It was a great tip because you are not only getting the club up on plane you are still turning it. Combine that with my right leg compressing a bit more and my swing has shorten up a lot. Still an ongoing tendency for me though.
