  1. Thanks for all the info on here! I have used this slower swing a couple of days now and shot a 37-39 yesterday (was unsure of total score because of all lost balls due to leaves) and a 42 today (9 on par 5 because of hook into trees that I found and could not get out!) but I am getting a little longer with my drives also by hitting the sweet spot more often! had about a 280 yard drive down the middle and hit 5/7 FIR.
  2. ok this is what I had a feeling about I never had good results trying to hit it at 4. Thanks for all the info!
  3. I have heard that at impact your swing plane should be hitting at the 4 o'clock on the ball ( a clock around the ball when looking down at setup) When I do this I feel like the swing is more in-to-out. Is this just a feeling because i am so used to an out to in swing?
  4. I also look in center of the ball never thought about it really but that is where i focus. I have helped some of my friends who was not hitting down on the ball by making them focus on hitting an imaginary ball in front of their ball. If they had to steep of a swing it did cause a top sometimes, but in general it hleped them understand hitting down on the ball more.
  5. I think this is my problem too and probably why I hit better swinging slower.
  6. I believe that the rest of my game is pretty solid, probably not the best by any means but even if I am spraying shots everywhere my highest score is usually 84 and when I am hitting good hitting more FIR and GIR scores are 74-79. There is always room to improve but I dont believe that my game is suffering from any one single part but obviously when I hit FIR and GIR
  7. when I was swinging faster I was hitting drives between 280-290 but definetly less accurate.
  8. I have been noticing lately that when I swing slower that my timing is more on, I hit it straighter and when I miss hit it, it still is not to bad of a shot. With my irons I do not hit them much shorter maybe 5 to 10 yards. with my driver I and 3 wood I notice a much more distance loss. driver goes about 250-260 and 3 wood probably around 220 (guessing). Questions that I have is: would I be able to become scratch golfer (big goal of mine) with driver going only 250-260? would it be a good idea to slow up my swing a little to ingrain the swing and hit it straighter and then add more power later? Has anyone else gone through this? Thanks!
  9. Yeah well first of all about that I can say I have never really tried to find out how long my 3 wood goes, I have used it for the 220-230 par 3s and were able to hit them pretty good so that was my guess, but havent really hit it down the fairway to see how far it goes. and I am not sure about PW to 3wood but thats just what it does. could be because my 3 wood is an old calaway steel head.
  10. I keep mine open, all but that one swing the other day when i had a little chunky 3 wood and mud went right in my eye, then I was forced to close them lol
  11. Driver - 270-300 (300-310 drive the other day) 3w - 230 4h - 210 5i - 200 6i - 190 7i - 185 8i - 175 9i - 160 PW - 150 SW - 100-125 64° - don't use for full shots
  12. This is a good idea and I guess you are right its only a good swing if i can repeat it during tournament play with pressure thanks.
  13. So I have been working on my golf swing a lot lately (maybe to much) but have finally got a swing that I believe is pretty solid and feels good. Now what to get better? My best score is only 73 and really want to shoot under so what would you guys suggest I start doing? putting better, short game better, focus on reducing mistakes, anything else? just wondering what other good players have done once they got a good swing.
  14. I actually found out the reason was not my hands or anything but that my body was rotating to much during my golf swing causing it to be open, I slowed that down so shoulder were clsoer to paralel and fixed it, thanks everyone
  15. I have a question for you guys that has kind of been bothering me for a while. So I know of course to hit down on the ball and have forward shaft lean to do this. now when I set up (static) to see what my impact would feel like I notice that when I lean the shaft forward that the club automatically opens up unless I manipulate my hands a little to bring it back. So (just guessing and I know other things may result in slice/push) im guessing that when I hit down on the ball and have forward shaft lean it is causing my open clubface. (Im also guessing thats why when I try to draw the ball I get more hook because I have to rotate club more) So does anyone else notice this? am I the only one? is there a fix? am I just looking at this all wrong? Thanks Skillzwhogolfs
  16. So I love hitting my fade, probably a lot bigger than others (20-30 yards), and when I start it on my target line (or where i am aiming) I usually hit a great shot. To do this shot I use a slight out to in swing path and have the club slightly open and may hit slight pull fade. but for some reason I hit a push fade sometimes and that causes my ball to start out straight at the target and fade 20-30 yards right. Is the only real way to hit a push to have an in to out swing? I may be doing that but it really does not feel like it since I purposly try to have an out to in path. Thoughts?
  17. I understand slice and fade, but when I try to fade the ball a little it seems to keep going. Also when I hit it straight(ish) it does fade most often just a little, but it is so unconsistent that my confidence that it will fade is not there. How do you hit such a small fade without accidently hitting a draw or anything else? is it really just consistent practice to hit that fade until I get confident?
  18. So I have been debating this for a while now, I hear lots of the pro's and many others say that they have their natural fade/draw and that by hitting those shots they are able to take out one side of the course, and also aim to one side of the green and let it go back to the target. Now why does so many drills and people say to hit the ball straight you must square the clubface? if its better to hit the draw/fade then you don't want to try square the clubface perfectly do you? I have been trying both lately and having good and bad with both. When I try to hit it straight at my target i am not entirely sure where the ball is going to go, sometimes dead straight, a little right, a littl left, and bad times , way left and way right =). So its sometimes hard to get close to the pin. When trying the fade the big problem I have is that its not just a little fade like the pros have but pretty big. driver can be like 40 yard fade. and i usually don't have much of an in between.(example: if i try to hit it straight i might get small fade, if I try to hit a fade its pretty big.) So what is the best route to take? any opinions would be great thanks
  19. I like a little fade and always play it. This may be old but it definetly helped me out somehow and hitting better than a looong time and even shaping the ball when I really need to. Hit big fade in order to hit fairway that is really tough, and hit a nice draw to a par 5 green around a branch for a 15-20ft eagle putt.
  20. yesterday I shot my best round ever of 73 (par 72) with 6 birdies 2 doubles and 3 bogeys. I was putting great and attacking the flags. Today I shot 37 (par 36) and was a lot like the day before hitting and putting well.
  21. http://youtu.be/KKUNm8San9g For my preshot routine I swing once with face open, once with face closed, and two the feel like straight on, then waggle the same way to have the straight/middle feeling. seems to be working.
  22. So I found a clip on youtube that helped me out a lot and squaring the clubface does seem more natural now. I went out yesterday and shot 73 (par 72 with 6 birdies) best score ever and a 37 (par36) today so I can definetly tell it is helping!
  23. I tried doing this today but played 9 holes instead of the range and the best shots I had was when I had a swing (on purpose) out to in and tried to square the club face, I hit two great drives (obviously with a fade and last drive of the round) but they were down the middle and far. the rest of the day was pretty bad.
  24. Thanks a lot so I am out to consciously square the face untill it gets natural! I figured it would hopefully become like that but was unsure of what approach to take.
  25. So as the title says at impact I subconsciously open the club face (what I believe) causing my slice or bigger fade. (I even had a huge push fade that worked for a little while) I have been trying to square the club face consciously but as you all know that only works with good timing. What now? what do I change to make squaring the club face natural? I have tried some things (like closing/opening club face at setup) but I am unsure where to go with this. Thanks for any help.
