That's your comparison to someone trying to scrape 3 shots off their score? My wife going down in a homicide? Classy.
-
Actually, it is exactly that.
-
Spoken like a wet fish.
-
BAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, it's comparable.
-
I'd sign his scorecard, look at him in the face and as I handed it to him I'd say, "Here is your card, I know you cheated. That's the last time I hope we have to play together." That's it. High school and college golfers are the biggest group of cheaters on the planet - and the douchiest. They spend more time trying to catch a playing partner cheating, or trying to hide their own cheating, than concentrating on their game.
-
Do what you have to do. Police reports? Really? Loud music and you're going to get it on paper with the police? Some of you guys are a bunch of candyasses.
-
I wouldn't play against someone for money if I didn't know them. And if I caught them cheating in a money game - that would be the last time I played with them and if they were a friend, they'd be a former friend. I would be upfront with the guy cheating. I would not go running into the clubhouse like some Yenta blabbing about it and "reporting" someone - especially in a charity-type outing where there are dopey prizes to be won (new driver, new putter, new irons etc).
-
Get yourself the big book of colleges and pick the ones you think you'd like to attend - heck, make a list of 40 or 50. Get a letter of recommendation from your high school coach and, if possible, from the pro at your club/course. Put it in a PDF. Make a short video of your swing and a variety of shots - not more than 2 or 3 minutes (no one wants to watch a 30 minute tape). Put the video into a format that can be e-mailed. E-mail the letters of recommendation and the video, along with a short cover letter about why you're interested in the school, to the head golf coach and to any assistant coaches. Sit back and let the offers come rolling in.

Again, apples and oranges. Golf is a game - even if there is a new driver or a new set of irons on the line.
-
Completely diagree with all of it. We're talking about a game - the Madoff comparison is apples and oranges. I don't spend time during my round policing others. Sorry, but I will not raise my kids to tattle-tale on others - it's childish, as is cheating. I don't have any tolerance for dishonesty. I'm not a rat - I worry about myself.
-
I 100% disagree with this. It is no one's responsibility to call out a cheater - it's solely on the player to post the correct score. It's none of my business, quite frankly. When I walk in the clubhouse and enter my score for the day, or give it to the tournament/outing reps, I know it's accurate - that's all that matters to me.
-
I didn't misread it. They were playing some sort of an outing/tournament with "nice sponsor prizes". Sorry, but walking into the clubhouse and reporting someone for cheating is childish. If someone needs to cheat to win a new driver or a new set of irons - they have to deal with that on their own terms. I play my ball, I play it as it lies and I post my own scores. I don't care if someone needs to cheat to feel better about themselves.
-
As long as you can put your head on your pillow at night you posted the correct score, who gives a crap what someone else does? And the fact that an adult would "report" someone in an outing is very childish and I would be more embarassed for the one doing the reporting. I have twin 3 year olds that know not to tattle-tale on someone.
-
Give me a break. Half of the guys in a golf outing will cheat or sandbag - and you can see it in their face when they get called up for their new driver, new set of irons, trip to Spain etc etc. When a guy posts a net 62......you know he sandbagged his handicap or he cheated. When a team posts a 58 in a best ball format, you know they cheated. If you're going into a golf outing and have your eyes on the prizes, you're there for the wrong reason. The only legitimate contests in an outing is a closest to the pin that is being measured by the car dealership rep in the event of a hole in one.
-
Who the hell cares? I don't get why the vast majority of golfers out here let crap like this ruin their day. Who gives a crap if the guy posts a 63 but shot a 109? You really showed him by refusing to sign his scorecard. And you "reported" him? The people running the tournament probably thought you were a bigger dick than the guy that was cheating.

Marino better find a putting stroke that is susceptible to breaking down in big spots - that putting stroke is horrific. I never had one ounce of confidence in that guy today. Great Sunday of golf though - guys coming out of nowhere, Tiger coming up clutch down the stretch to get to that 6-footer at the end, Slocum hanging on for dear life. Good stuff. Still amazed that even when Tiger isn't making putts, he always winds up with a T2 or Top 5. Unreal.

I just called the reservation system about 30 minutes ago and got a single on The Black for 11:57am. Enjoy your car for the night - I'm heading to my big bed. LOL. Enjoy the round - weather should be great for tackling The Black on Friday...71 degrees, overcastm 30% chance of showers and little humidity.

Jack won 73 tournaments in 580 starts, or so Tiger has won 70 tournaments in 270 starts, or so So Tiger could go winless for his next 300 tournaments and still have about the same number of wins as Jack. Not really a fair fight.
-
And these broads would beat you by 15 with their eyes closed. I played with my brother and his friends on Saturday - they're all 280 off the tee, they hit 8-irons 180. I'm 240 off the tee and hit my 7-iron 150 yards. I shot 81, they didn't break 90.

I really enjoyed the golf out of the girls this weekend. I have twin 3 year old girls and I was thinking today that I'll probably be dragging them to LPGA events (if there are any left) someday as it is easy to point to the girls on both sides as really good role models. I can't wait to introduce them to the game some day.

I've been noticing Moore a lot this year and paying attention to what he's been doing. He seems very consistent - always seems to play well - not a lot of MCs. He played great at Bethpage - and he bombs the ball for a smaller guy (5'9, about 170). Ryan is from the northwest, Seattle area I believe. I think his "look" is that of his generation in the northwest - comfortable clothes and doesn't give a crap what anyone thinks. He seems like a simple guy, doesn't want to deal with a lot of corporate bullshit and is happy making really good money off his winnings. I bet he has a bit of a "I'm not selling out" side to him - as he looks like a guy that might enjoy a Phish show once in a while. He has the demeanor and the game to win a lot of tournaments.

Had ACL surgery in June 1993 - right after senior year of high school. I did a number on it - the ACL tore at the base of the tibia and actually took a piece of bone with it...I thought my leg broke in half. On baseball scholarship heading to college. My doctor was a good one - he did Larry Bird's heels and Bernard King's knees. His mindset on recovery and rehab was to get full range of motion back asap - which took a good 6 weeks. After that we did as much as I was comfortable doing. I was jogging in mid-August, about 2 months post op. I was able to participate in fall workouts at school - no live scrimmages, but running, taking infield, cage work etc. was actually full go around January 1st, but it took 2 months (which coincided with the start of our season) to get the leg back to full strength - and we actually got it so that it was stronger than my "good" leg. I wore one of those ultra-light, heavy-duty braces - but I bagged it pretty quickly, which wasn't suggested, but I felt fine. Had one bout early on with scar tissue that was very painful and lasted for about 10 days at the 6 or 7 month mark. I did it to my left leg - so a lot of stress on it for golf. I could have played 3 or 4 months out of surgery, but was too busy with school and ball to play. When I played the following summer, no ill effects. 16 years later - the ACL is still in one piece. I had the hamstring graft procedure done - which was a pretty advanced procedure back in 1993, as most ACLs back then were fixed with Patella tendons or cadaver tissue. It does get sore and I can feel two of the screws threw my skin and the areas around the two scars are still numb. I've taken up a pretty good exercise regimen the last six months (I'm 33 now) and the jogging is a bit of a chore. I get a tingling feeling in the scar areas often - more of a nuisance than anything. Once you have full range of motion, the swelling is gone and you can get a decent jog going, I would certainly start hitting some wedges and work off of that to see what happens. Good luck with it. As for my baseball career - I had a blast, got to play in The Big Dance a couple of times and did well. However, I was a 4.5 40-yard dash before the injury and was a 4.7 after the injury - so I definitely lost a step. I love my scars - especially the one on the top of my tibia - it's a nice straight scar that's a conversation piece when I'm tan and the scar is a little lighter and visible. The rehab was a bitch, thinking back, but it had no effect on my golf game. Even now it's fine....though walking up #15 at Bethpage Black it'll give me tickle every now and then. Post some pictures of your leg - I remember when they took the bandages off for the first time, I nearly passed out - gnarly stuff. A week out of surgery and my thigh and calf muscles were already gone.

Agree with all of that, too. That may be evening things up a bit - Tiger off the tee with a 3W is 280-290, generally. These other guys are striping drivers 330. John Doe with a 8, 9 or wedge in his hand is probably on par with Tiger holding a 5, 6, 7. Watching the ShotTracker at work is a hoot - often, Tiger is 30 yards behind guys off the tee. It's like a built in handicap.
-
Bubba Watson is going to be my darkhorse this week. If he gets hot with the driver he should contend - same with Quiros. Both are kind of those guys that seem to have the background of some of these guys that seem to emerge at The PGA - talented, young, haven't quite put it together yet. I may have to throw $10 on each of them this week.
-
No kidding. And he's 16 for 30 in the WGC events - and those fields are every bit tougher, if not moreso, than a major. Crazy. Tiger has some double-digit wins left in his bag. His game has changed. He's looking to "own" his swing - something, he says, only Hogan did. When he was playing with that "balls out" mentality - if he put it together, it was curtains by big margins. He's toned it down - using more 3-woods, stingers and the like while improving his course management. Is he 18 for 19 in Top 10s the last two years? That's unbelievable. I get the feeling he has a 65-64-65-65 in his bag soon in one of these majors where he'll win by a dozen again. He looked absolutely unbeatable this past weekend - and he was still a little sideways off the tee. Even though his wins the last few weeks have been by just a couple of strokes - you never really feel like he's going to lose. It's been awhile since he threw up a 65 to start a major - can't wait to see what happens when that occurs.
