1. Wow. The Moody Blues, another of the great live bands.
2. I had in mind late 1963 through through 1965. Of course I loved the who and Wings but that was a whole different kind of music. Better in lots of ways, but didn't have the impact on my life as that earlier period. I was only 12 when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan. I will remember it the same way I will always remember the Kennedy assasination. I also grew up in New York, and like you the 4 seasons and the Beach Boys were my favorites to that point. As far as comparing that period to the bubble gum music that came later, bubble gum loses. Even the secondary groups like the Dave Clark Five, blew away the Ohio Express and 1910 Fruitgum Co. If I had to pick my favorite year, I pick 1966. The British invasion groups were still rolling, the Beatles and Stones were getting better better with each album released. Motown was at its very best. Who didn't like the great sounds of the Temptation, 4 Tops, Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, etc. Add the underated Lovin Spoonful and the emergence of the Doors? Was there ever a better time to listen to music?
3. Great choices. Shame on me for forgetting the Animals. The house of the rising sun sounds as good today as it did back then.
4. My wife and I saw Saving Mr. Banks today. I have to admit after seeing the trailer I had no interest whatsoever in seeing this movie. My wife wanted to see it so I decided I was going to hate it, but I would go. To my surprise The movie, although a bit slow at times, won me over, a really terrific performance by Emma Thompson is surely the reason to see this movie. A real surprise and a definite birdie for me.
5. Still trying to catch up on reading all of these threads. I see I didn't rate correctly, according to the threads guidelines, so I will try again: Anchorman 2 - Bogey American Hustle - Around the cup and in for a par. Wolf of Wall Street - A solid par Frozen - An Eagle for the kiddies, a par for the adults.
6. Since golf is out of the question here on the East Coast, my wife and I have been seeing lots of movies the past 2 weeks: Anchorman 2 - Not nearly as funny as the first one. They were trying too hard for laughs and not much worked. Rating 4 out of 10 American Hustle - Fabulously acted and terribly confusing. Rating 6 out of 10 Wolf of Wall Street - DiCaprio might finally get his Oscar. Wouldn't have minded the length, if it had more to say. Rating 6 out of 10 Frozen - The kids will love it, and you won't fall asleep. 7 out of 10
7. When the Beatles came to the states 50 years ago it changed my life. Up to that point I was only interested in sports. I then saved my every penny (didn't have much then) to run up to the record store to buy my next 45rpm. Who were your favorite bands of that time? Here are mine: 1- The Beatles (of course) 2- The Dave Clark 5 (Didn't last very long, but I liked every song) 3- Herman's Hermits (Admit it ....we all know the words to Henry the 8th and Mrs Brown you got a lovely daughter) 4- The Rolling Stones (They still make better music than 95% of the other stuff I hear today) 5- The Kinks - (they were great live) There were so many others.
8. 6002 songs 18.8 days 24.71 GB
9. Excellent point. I think her endorsement dollars far exceed her LPGA earnings.
10. The Lone Ranger was a real stinker.
11. Natalie missed some of the first half of the season with, of all things, a case of Malaria. She wound up #63 on the money list with $188,000. Not a lot compared to what the men bring in, but not that bad either.
12. Before I started posting on here 2 years ago, I wrote to you guys for permission, which was granted. FYI, I get about 1200 hits a day on my blog and only about 4 a day come from here. On the other hand, I promote your blog on my website, with a link, and according to the stats I get from Google, you get about 9 per day from me. So who's promoting who? Anytime you want me to stop posting, just kick me out. I'll understand. I keep posting here because I know people on here do read my stuff and are usually very nice and compliment my blogs often.
13. Sure I will be glad to. I have been a big golf fan all my life. I watch just about everything televised including the PGA, LPGA, Web.com, Seniors Tour, etc. My wife and I attend about 8 LPGA tournaments a year. Everyone covers the PGA, so I have chosen to cover the LPGA. I am also a credentials media person for the LPGA. I do not advertise on my website or make a single penny. I just want to help promote the girls. that's about all there is to it. I am an avid golfer, I was an 8 handicap in my prime, I am now a 12. My LPGA blog by the way, is the #1 golf blog in the world, and that includes PGA blogs. Thanks for asking
14. Natalie Gulbis Ties the Knot It has been a big week for LPGA announcements. Just a few days after Paula Creamer announced her engagement, Natalie Gulbis has gotten married. The 29 year old Gulbis was married yesterday to former Yale quarterback Josh Rodarmel. Here are some photo's of the happy event:
15. Back in July I sat down here and wrote who I thought were my Biggest Surprises & Disappointments of the 2013 season. The LPGA had only played 15 of the 28 tournaments on the schedule at that point, a lot has changed since then. Now that the season has ended, it is time to take a final look. http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/12/surprises-disappointments-final-2013.html
16. Paula Creamer broke the hearts of many young men today with the announcement of her engagement. Paula, arguably the most popular player on the LPGA Tour, made the big announcement via Twitter early this morning. The LPGA superstar is the winner of nine tournaments, including the 2010 United States Open at Oakmont. She has also been part of the last 5 Solheim Cup teams, where she has posted a splendid 12-6-5 record. My wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting Paula's fiancé and parents, at the incredible St. Andrews Golf & Country Club. She could not be marrying into a nicer family. Here are some photo's of the happy couple: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/12/paula-creamer-announces-her-engagement.html
17. The 2013 season was full of surprises. We had 15 different winners. We had 6 multiple winners. We had winners from 8 different countries. We had four first time winners. The player that started the year #1 in the world, is now #32. We had a non LPGA player defend a title. It certainly was a crazy year. It was a year that was almost impossible to predict, although I did give it a try. Way back in January, before the season began, I made my predictions of who I thought would be the top 30 golfers of 2013. I put it out there for the whole world to see. Let's take a look at how I did: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/12/my-2013-predictions-did-i-get-it-right.html
18. When the 2013 LPGA season came to an end, so did the race for qualifying for the inaugural International Crown that will be played in 2014. Well, sort of anyway. The countries will no longer be vying for position, as that part of the qualifying process has come to an end. The 8 countries are now set. They are as follows: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/12/international-crown-players-still.html
