  1. Does anyone know if one finish has any characteristics that the other does not? Mainly spin. I have a set of the Stainless now and won a set of the Chrome. I think the Chrome looks better, but I do not want to change and end up spinning the ball more. I tend to over spin all of my irons. I read the review here and have read the Titleist website but neither had anything to say comparing the two. I did see where Taylor Made says their chrome wedges spin more than their satin finish wedges. I want to switch to the Chrome model but I want to make sure before I do. I only plan to keep one set and the Chrome set is in a little bit better shape than my set of Stainless.
  2. For those of you who use them or have tested, or used them in the past what are there good points and bad points. Is there any difference other than cosmetics in the feel and performance of the Chrome vs. the Stainless Steel? I really like the way they look and I am considering giving them a try. I have a deal on a set that is Stainless (I really like the Chrome look though) and in really good shape for $250. They are almost brand new. So I am just looking for some opinions either good or bad.
  3. When I first started using the X-Forged it was really hot here, around 95. Now it has cooled off some with highs in the 60's and low's in the 40's. So I am trying to convince myself that the cool weather can make a difference. And even though my club waters everything it is really dry here and hard to take much of a divot. Also, I was under the impression that the PX Flighted where low, flatter trajectory shafts. I am not losing any distance really with the irons maybe 3-5 yds since the weather has gotten cooler but it is the feel at impact that is hard to adjust to. Nothing has that crisp, solid feel when it comes off the club. When I switched from Taylor Made TP's with DG to the X-Forged with PX I was looking at reducing my iron spin. I could spin back a 5 iron with the TM's. I tend to get "handsy" and put so much spin on the ball that it effects my distance. No my distance has not really suffered but I am not spinning the ball with my irons as much. Now it is more of a one hop and stop with 8-9-PW, and hit and release very little (10-12 feet) with the 4-7 irons. Maybe I need to go to 5.5 PX. I may be hitting them a little thin and thay may be giving me the harsh feel. I guess the best way to compare it would be trying X-Forged with DG shafts or trying the MP-32's with PX shafts.
  4. I have a set of Callaway X Forged irons with Project X 6.0 flighted shafts. I have been hitting them for about 2 months now. Lately every ball feels really hard and clunky off of them. I am even talking about the PW. I am play the Taylor Made TP Red golf ball. Yesterday I had 121 yds to the pin on 18 and hit a 3/4 pw. It felt like I hit a rock. The ball ended up pin high 10 feet to the right. (Yeah I missed the putt) So after I got through with my round I went into the proshop and I picked up a Mizuno MP-32 6 iron with a Dynamic Gold S300 shaft. I hit a bag of balls with just the 6 iron and everything felt really crisp. I might have hit 2 bad shots out of the entire bag. So here are my questions. Is it the shaft? Is it in my head? I would have thought that the MP-32 would be harder to hit than the X-Forged. I am considering switching irons to the MP-32, the Taylor Made R7, or the Titleist 735. The main reason I went to the X-Forged with the Project X Flighted shaft was I wanted a little flatter trajectory. I tend to balloon some of my irons. But I was able to hit different trajectory shots with the MP-32 yesterday. The only other thing to consider is, it is very dry here. It is my understanding that with the Project X shaft taking a divot is better than sweeping the ball.
  5. I am thinking about switching around some clubs. I have a 13* Callaway X 3-wood which is great for tight and dogleg par fours and I can hit it around 250yds. off the tee. But it is a dead stick for me off the fairway. I can't get it high enough to suit my taste off of the fairway. I am toying with the idea of getting a Callaway FT Hybrid 14* and getting rid of my Sonartec 4-wood. Not sure if I should do this or maybe look at the Callaway X Hot 3-wood that is 15* but is 44" long and use that to replace my 13* wood. The X-Hot being longer than a standard 3-wood but with a 15* loft maybe be the right answer, but the 14* hybrid could hold some different trajectory shots potential. I read the review of the X-Hot but just wondered if anyone had any opinions or experiences with either club?
  6. I too have been looking for some new shoes. I walk most of the time I play and want something comfortable as well. I currently have a pair of Nike SP-5's and 2 pair of Adidas Traxions. My Nike's are OK they just don't fit me very well and I found out this past weekend that the airbag in one of the heel is busted. I really like the Adidas so I tried on a pair of the 360's. They feel really good I just haven't bit the bullet yet with Christmas coming up. Adidas has a new version of the 360 called the 360 II out now and I have found the original 360's for around $125. I don't see that much difference maybe just some new color variations. I have 2 pair of Ecco dress shoes that are extremely comfortable, so I cannot imagine their golf shoes not being comfortable as well. My next pair will probably be the Adidas 360's though. Make sure you try them on for proper fit, I found that I needed the wide in the 360's and a regular width in every other golf shoe.
  7. I have purchased a dozen of each in the past 2 weekends. I have a 6 handicap and to tell you the truth I could not find much difference. The black may have a little firmer "click" off of the clubs, but if they did not say "red" vs. "black" and have different colored numbers I might not be able to tell them apart. And right now they are on sale just about everywhere for $29.99 a dozen and for that price I will stock up on both. I just switched from Taylor Made irons and driver, but the TP golf ball is really nice. And other than being a little beat up cosmectically I was able to play 18 holes with each ball.
  8. I noticed on the pgatour site that Matt Every at the Stage #1 of Q-school in Texas shot 64 - 64 in the last 2 rounds to finish second and advance to Stage #2 of Q-school. I believe it was Anthony who was making fun of Matt when Matt got eliminated saying something like "I was tired of hearing how good he was". Well I guess Anthony can see how good Matt can be at times. I am glad to see some of these guys advancing in Q-school.
  9. I have always been a Duval fan. So I may sound biased, but here is most of his story. For the past several years he has suffered from Vertigo (his doctors said it was the worst case they had ever seen) and a failed marriage. I believe he has turned the corner in getting over both. As far as the shades go. They were a suggestion from his coach at Ga Tech. David had an older brother who he worshipped. When David was around 11 or so his brother was diagnose with Lukemia. The only close bone marrow match that could be found was David's. Well bone marrow extraction is very painful in my understanding but David endured it the best he could. Well to make a long story short his brother's body rejected David's bone marrow and pretty much shut down. David said he always felt he killed his older brother. So when David got to college he had immense talent but was an emotional time bomb. He wore every feeling he had on his sleeve and his eyes told the whole story. His coach came up with the Oakley M-Frames as something for David to hide behind and not show his emotions so much. He grew to really like playing in them and has ever since. Hope this sheds a little light on Duval.
