FWIW, I've noticed a real change in my ability to control the club head through space when I changed to lighter weights in my driver. 6g in the heel and 4 in the toe.

Hi all, I was just wondering what grip size you would recommend for someone who wears a cadet small glove. I've seen online charts that say I should use .580 but the guy at Golfsmith was adamant that I should use a standard .600. I have a 3W with a Golf Pride .600 Multicompound on there and it does seem different from my Diablo Edge's which are .580. Also, according to the Callaway site, the RAZR Fit has a standard .600 grip on there but I think it feels like .580 like my irons. What are the benefits to sizing down? I ask because I want to get softer Winn grips and would like to make an informed purchase. Thank you.

Really? That would make a difference to me. It seems like Ogio already has the thick stands and good rubber pieces that make ground contact that I prefer (compared to the Nike Performance Carry) but it seems like it doesn't extend enough and would be unstable. What in particular are they changing with the stand? I can't seem to find any photos of this. Do you happen to have any, Gaijin?

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone had their eye on a 2013 carry/stand bag with a 14-way divider. If so, could you suggest one for me, a mostly walker, sometimes cart-er? I had a Callaway Diablo Edge stand bag but got a very generous offer from a fellow Sand Trapper so I'm now in the market for a new bag. I tried out the Nike Performance Carry 2012 but the colors clashed with my clubs, and the rumors are true: the base is not very cart friendly. I really liked the 2012 Grom XX from Ogio but I saw that the 2013 ones should be out soon with improved straps. Price range is below $250. Thank you!

Hi all, I am a high-handicapper who is 5'4"-5'5" with a wrist-to-floor measurement of 30 inches. I am pretty happy with the progress of my game everywhere except for on the tee, struggling most with my 45.5 inch driver and 43.5 inch 3-wood. I have seen online conversion charts that suggest I cut my clubs by an inch or even an 1.75". This seems like the right thing to do but I was wondering if any one had any anecdotal experience doing this. How big a change was it? Did this had any huge effect on resale value (the main hangup). I know that I shouldn't be worried about gear as someone with such a beginner's level game but part of the appeal of golf is playing with new toys, and I can see myself getting gadget lust in the near future (like how my iPhone suddenly feels inferior after today's announcement). Also, if this is definitely the right thing to do, can anyone recommend a place in the Bay Area for me to go and get my clubs fit, cut, and regripped? And does getting "fit" mean they start from scratch or can they suggest how to make the changes in my bag (like bending or cutting suggestions for the clubs I own). I would prefer the latter. I play a 44, 49, 54, and 59, the default wedges for my SGI set. It makes upgrading to used Vokeys a challenge for sure, especially since I would want to keep my PW and GW.

Hi Jamo, Based on your information, I feel pretty confident saying that this is a pre-2010 Spin Milled. I think there are SM2s and SM3s though (http://www.golfsmith.com/product/30047204/titleist-vokey-tour-chrome-spin-milled-sm2-wedges) I just want to make sure I am getting the name right so that I do not misrepresent the club if I sell it, which I am leaning towards. I know I'll never be a tournament/competition level player but the idea of having "illegal" equipment is iffy to me. Also, I would like to find matching LW, GW, and hopefully PW so I think it would be too tough to find the older models. Thanks again!

Thanks for the replies. Lately I am hitting the ball well enough to warrant an upgrade from my SGI stock wedges (Diablo Edge 48PW 52AW 56SW 60LW) so I was just contemplating whether to sell this Vokey and buy a whole new set of Vokeys or Cleveland wedges or keep it and upgrade around it with other wedges of the same model (also why I want to know what wedge it is). Thank you again, and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi grounder, Josh Zander also teaches out of Stanford on certain days which should make the commute a little closer than San Francisco. Also on campus, I've taken PE classes with Jim Miller and Phil Marrone, both of whom are great but I can't vouch for how they are with lessons. Good luck!

As a relatively new golfer, I have to admit I was a little nervous about going out to the course on my own with strangers since my friends can't keep up with my newfound golf addiction. I don't really keep score as I am way too inconsistent with my ball striking. But I thought that because sometimes I take 3 or 4 drops per round among friends (from OB, lost in native grass, or lies behind trees that might cause me to ricochet a ball off my dome), I would be chastised among those in my group. But I've found that if I tell my group that I won't be keeping score or will be treating this as practice, no one really seems to be outwardly hostile. Has anyone discovered the same? That golfers are much more understanding to novices than popular opinion or sometimes this board would have you believe? Again, I'll interject my own thoughts. If the day ever comes where I am anything better than mediocre, I don't think I would be harsh to a beginner or make him abide to every single ball. To me, this is analogous to calling 3-seconds during a pickup game with someone new to basketball. Sometimes, fun takes precedence over playing the game exactly by the book. I do plan eventually (within a few months) on playing every single ball where it lies but I find that the game in its current form is challenging enough for me. Thoughts? Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone's sensibilities, so I am sorry in advance if I did--I know this is a very hardcore and passionate community, especially re: rules and playing balls. But I just wanted to share because sometimes I think no one speaks up for the beginner and it can be intimidating getting started with something that has such a high learning curve.

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the RAZR Fit vs. the RAZR Fit Tour Authentic and could offer their opinion. There is an amazing deal right now on these clubs on Amazon for Amazon Visa Cardholders (20% off = 319 for Tour Authentic or 239 for RAZR Fit). I am looking at either the 10.5 R flex Tour Authentic or 10.5 or 11.5 R flex RAZR Fit. I am a high-handicapper with medium swing speed (probably 90 mph, can hit RBZ 5-wood between 215-245 if I catch it good). The Tour Authentic club is appealing because of the added adjustability in the hosel and weights (I hope to not be a high handicapper forever), the cool color scheme and club head cover. The RAZR Fit is appealing for price reasons. I recently bought an R11S (R flex, 10.5) but had to return it because of some defects in the club. But even after having tried it with the option to return (30 day playability), I found it to be a little dead in the face and produced a weird ball flight for my swing. I also thought that the sole dragged during my takeaway since I ground at address, and that sort of messes with my confidence, and makes me Kevin Na-like with my practice swings. Anyone feel the same? I know the stock answer is, "go hit both and see which you like!" but the sale ends in a few days, and I won't be able to get to a Golfsmith in time. Last time I was there, there was no tour Authentic model either. I sincerely appreciate any feedback you might have. Thank you, Sand Trappers!

Thanks for the suggestion, Golfing Dad. The Quiver Bag seems like exactly what I am looking for! I will consider getting it. I heard of a creative solution by my home course. They said they have bags for me to use on the course so I figure I can put 7 or so clubs in my backpack, bike over, and then borrow a bag from the pro shop. I still think I will need a new bag eventually but at least now I have the option of waiting until later this summer. Tin Man, I don't think I am man enough to do the bag tug. Thanks, Beachcomber. I'm starting to question whether or not the investment would be worth it. My current bag is 6 lbs. (below) and much of what I am finding out there is 4.4 lbs. anyway. The weight doesn't matter so much as the balance and the one I have isn't horrible but I do feel a little wobbly and unsafe on my bike. I guess I should consider bags without the stand to lighten the load.
