  2. Normally a Pro V1, but my swing is off, and playing a tough course with lots of water, so right now its Srixon Soft Feel
  3. Thanks all. Yes the club is authentic nike and was brought from a golf shop. So it's genuine. My swing speed is around 95 with the driver. I hit the ball cleanly and don't hit towards the hosel. Most are clean hits. driver will be sent back to nike. I did see an old thread with comments similar to mine
  4. Hi All, Around 2 years ago, I replaced my old Taylor Made clubs with a new set of Nike. The first driver I had was the Str8 Fit Nike VR, 9.5 degree. I had this club six months and when I teed off the club split on the shaft down near the hosel and the graphite was splintered, I took this back to the shop and they replaced it with a Nike VR Pro 10.5 which I was happy with. Anyway I have had the VR Pro since December, since then I have played roughly 20 rounds, today on the 7th hole hit a beautiful dive and thought my driver feels weird, looked down and the head has nearly fallen off, its broken in the hosel this time, completely broken, I never throw or abuse my clubs I am really careful with them, so its not an abuse situation. This is the second Nike driver in 2 years, so I will take it back and get it sent to Nike I remember reading others had some issues, has anyone else experienced this, I find it very poor quality and after this I doubt I will be going Nike anymore, it doesnt leave you with a good feeling re their quality. My nike irons wedges and hybrids and 3 wood are fine just the drivers. Does anyone else have or had this issue? Thanks Clarky
  5. I tried the Titleist DT Solo was not a fan. I might try the Callaway Hex Chrome, which seems to get good reviews, may also try the TM Rocketballz or potentially Nike's new One RZN 3 piece ball when it comes out. Or the Nike PD soft, much cheaper and the way im losing balls at the moment could be a good idea. I still have a heap of Penta TP5 to use, the Prov1x I gave to a friend of mine, I was really losing these particularly off the tee, where the Penta seems to have a better flight and not as erratic off the tee for me.
  6. Hi All, In the past I had played with the Bridgestone E6 and the Srixon Q Star, due to the greenside performance I have been playing the Prov1x and the Penta TP5. I found my short game much improved, the issue I have is that my swing has gone slightly off especially off the driver, I find particularly with the Prov1x it really makes my slice and off centre hits really offline, the Penta is not as bad, but obviously at the cost of these balls and the amount I have lost its becoming a bit expensive. I am looking for a mid tier ball that performs a bit better than the E6 and Q star around the greens, but will also help me to straighten out of the tee. Any recommendations? Thanks all Clarky
  7. I just removed the price tags off my clubs essentially I just removed the stickers by my hands fingernails then removed the sticky adhesive with some baby oil as advised in another post worked well and looks much better.
  8. My driver Nike driver broke 2 weeks ago at the same spot on the shaft it essentially split only had the club 6 months was interested to see this thread seems the straight fit ones seem to have an issue breaking at this spot.
  9. Hi There, When I was loosing 4-5 per round, I was playing the Gamer V2 also, now after using the Penta TP5 and or Pro V1, I could not go back, so if I started to lose 4 a round, I would go back to the Penta, can get them $33 for a dozen, definitely would move away from my Prov1 if I was losing 4-5 per round. I maybe lose 1 or 2 a round now, played yesterday and only lost one, no idea where it went, have a suspicion someone picked it up
  10. I have the same issue on my clubs have the price tag labels on the shafts of the wedges woods etc its a pain to remove and then to get the adhesive off I'll try some of these tips see how it goes Thanks
  11. Hi All, More recently I have been playing premium golf balls and it has really improved my game along with my regular golf lessons. I was hitting the prov1x which I liked but I much prefer the taylor made penta tp5 I really enjoy this ball and love the soft feel. Is the regular prov1 as soft as the penta tp5. The x version is not as soft as the penta but I am wondering if the prov1 has similar feel to the penta Thanks
  12. Yeah I'd like to know the science too. Titleist say one thing on their web page re compression it's quite a good read I'm sure you have read that too. Bridgestone and srixon have opposing views have not seen anything from the factually on their web pages At the end of the day who really knows what's what. Clever marketing most of the time which is why most here say play what feels and works right for you. That's most important I don't think we will ever get a definitive answer.
  13. Ive heard good things about the hex chrome and from all reports it's good on the green. Try a few sleeves see what you like best and stick to it. As I said for me I love the feel of the tour balls At the end of the day both titleist and srixon etc are there to sell balls they just have different views on marketing them. Srixon have used the q star ads to try and convince us to play the non tour q star. I like the q star but it's no prov1 or penta. I prefer both over the q star.
  14. I asked this same question. Srixon and Bridgestone tell you playing a tour ball hurts your game. But titleist tell you fitting a ball to swing speed is a myth and that you should play a tour ball. I have tested Bridgestone e6 and srixon q star Nike pd soft callaway diablo tour soft feel etc. to be honest my play testing agrees with titleist. I have been playing prov1x and the penta tp5 I score better with the tour balls and they feel nicer off the club and especially putter I'm a 15 hc and I can tell you like most amateurs most of my wasted shots are wedge shot chip shot and putting these are what kill your score you have a bad green side game you won't break 100. If you hit a driver offline you can recover you only hit 18 drives maybe say 14 considering par 3. Where are most of your shots around the green. For me this is where the tour balls excel much better green side and for me a great feel off the putter the roll and feel is brilliant. As tiger woods once said its no accident my father taught me greens first then to the long irons and driver. Why? Because most of your game is around the green. Keep track next time you play of how many wasted shots you have on the green. Will playing a prov1 make you the next tiger woods probably not but for me I'll play the tour balls from now on because for me they work on the greens and that to me is what matters. If I hit a cheap or mid tier ball now they feel like rocks and I dont enjoy it. Find what works for you and stick to 1 ball all the trying new balls swapping and changing is no good. Stick to one ball. My firm belief is play the best ball you can afford. For me that's the titleist prov1x.
  15. Originally was playing the E6 too much roll on greens, then the q star better, but did not like the feel off the putter. Now I only carry one ball in my bag the Taylor Made Penta TP5, so good around the greens and I love the feel off the putter. I eventually realised that most of my wasted shots were missing putts and around the greens, so thats where the Penta comes into play for me, my green game is much more solid. While the E6 was straighter, id rather have a ball with better greenside control, more shots are saved there.
