  1. I wasn't sure which section to post this but I wanted to let yall know that Dick's had an ad in the Washington Post the other day saying that Tour Burners were 99.98. I printed a copy of the ad off and took it to my local Dick's in Memphis and had no problem buying it! Best of luck getting one if you want one. I've been eyeballing them for months. Merry Christmas to me!
  2. Hey all, I just demo'd a set of Tour Burner Irons and LOVE them....I just dont have the funds to buy a set, even on ebay. Is there a set of irons that you would compare to them? I'd like to keep the set under $250 (and dont mind buying a 4-pw or 5-pw set). I've been looking at some Rac OS, Rac LT, and r7 irons but haven't hit any yet. Thanks
  3. Since it's summer, i've been deciding to walk many rounds as opposed to riding and I wear either pair of my golf spikes (FJ Desert Trek and another random pair of FJ), my feet kill me that night, so i've been wearing a pair of new balance tennis shoes when I walk a course so that my feet don't hurt, which is fine except for when the course is soggy or wet. Are there any suggestions on a decent pair of golf shoes that can hold up during a summer of walking courses? I've been looking at a few pair online that look like tennis shoes but with golf spikes from Adidas, such as the Powerband Sport: http://www.golfsmith.com/products/295372 and the Tech Response: http://www.golfsmith.com/products/295366 I'm leaning towards the Tech Responses due to the price. Can anyone offer up reviews of either shoe, or suggest an inexpensive ($75 and under) pair? THanks
  4. 500 yard par 3?
  5. I played baseball from 4 years old through high school, batting left handed, and around the age of 13 picked up the game of golf. However, my dad is right handed and I began golfing right handed because I adopted his old clubs. I felt like it would be a good move to golf RH/bat LH so the two swings wouldn't mess each other up. In high school I wasnt serious about golf but I was prob a 15 handicap. Since quitting competitive baseball and taking up golf seriously im down to about a 6. One interesting thing that I experienced with the two separate swings was this winter when I began taking my first ever golf lessons. I had trouble not transfering my weight, and upon watching video of my golf swing, my lower body looked nearly the exact same as it did when I batted (my weight actually shifted slightly towards my left foot (my front foot for golf but my back foot for baseball), my left leg flexed, and my right leg straightened). Once I noticed the similarities, my instructor agreed that years of baseball was the cause. Luckily I was able to fix the weight transfer issue! Best of luck getting into golf, like everyone else has said, you will benefit from taking the mechanics of batting and implementing them into your golf swing
  6. heard about this feat last summer and thought it was impressive. Nice payday for him too, I can't imagine trying to do it. http://www.pokernews.com/news/2007/6...d-rawvegas.htm

  8. Murdock, I've played both TP's and both ProV's and my thoughts are as follows (I can't speak for the B330): TP Red=Not real good distance for me, and WAY WAYYY too much spin. I hit a 3 hybrid into #7 at Plantation (I see you live in Memphis, also) and my ball mark was three feet in front of where my ball ended up. TP Black=Too hard of a ball, it seems like its almost too hard to compress (my driver clubhead speed is 102-107). It is probably the worst ball of the bunch, and I couldnt get the ball to spin on the green, resulting in 9 irons running off the back of the green. ProV1=Loved the ball until I tried the X. Longer than both TP's and had enough spin to stop all iron shots into the green. ProV1X=In my opinion, its the same as the V1 but longer. I can still stop all of my iron shots into the greens, I can work the ball like I want to, and like I said, it's longer. I added between 5-8 yards to all of my irons and probably 10 yards for my driver. Very satisfied. Again, these are all my personal opinions and you should use what is best for you. For reference, I am about a 6 or 7 handicap. Also, if you play the V1 or the X, Edwin Watts on Poplar sells both in the Practice (not X-Out) for $30/dozen and they perform just like the $46/dozen.
  9. Anyone know why? There seems to be more guys than usual WD'ing this week(8 total)
  10. the article is in the feb 08 golf magazine. after reading it i decided to try a sleeve of both the bridgestone e5 and e6...the e5 spun wayyy too much in my experience, causing increased hooks and slices, as well as 7 irons spinning off the front of greens. the e6 wasnt too bad of a ball, nice ball flight, good spin, but not very long. i just looked at the article again and i may have to try out the nxt tour like you did. FYI ive heard alot of good things about the new callaway hx hot bite, but havent tried it yet. anyone agree/disagree?
  11. never hit one on a course, but the sumo sounds like shit. off topic, but OP, did i play poker with you at the tropicana in vegas in late september? i remember a guy handing out cards for the GUB golf belts. (me, college guy, 22 years old, sat to your right, you got tanked, i was well on my way). if so hit me up matt
