  1. Okay, just to update this thread...... I went ahead and cut the shafts down by an inch. Because i'm hard headed, i did it myself and went ahead and also bought new grips and installed those. It was such an easy and rewarding process. Went out to the range and let me tell you what a world of difference. It feels more natural now to swing the clubs. I have lost a little distance as i was expecting BUT for each club 5-PW, seriously 8 to 9 out of 10 shots were dead straight. It was such a confidence booster to be able to grab the 5-iron and hit it long and straight, whereas before i dreaded taking out that club....... One question though, if i add those lead tape weights to each of the clubs will i gain back some of the distance i lost?? the one thing i forgot to do was to have the swingweight checked for each club before i cut em down. oh well
  2. okay....just for reference, i went there today and played. The fairways aren't as wide as i thought they would be and the two greens for each fairway are pretty close together. So, yea.....definately wait for greens to be clear just to be safe.
  3. well basically its about this course http://www.stewartpeninsulagolf.com/...nt_letter.html its a nine hole but each hole has two different greens. so 18 in all. i just wanted to know what kind of rules/etiquette apply here as far as teeing off. i know that you shouldn't bomb your tee drives into the group ahead of you , but can you go ahead and tee off if the group ahead of you is already on their green(assuming you and the other group are playing a different "hole" so to speak, ex. we're playing #1, group ahead is playing #10). the only reason i ask is because even though the two greens share a fairway and the same hazards, the approach to the green will be different.
  4. okay...nevermind. apparently it was a stupid question
  5. see...i haven't really noticed a loss of distance. hard to say because i could never hit em straight. i'm going to take the clubs to a fitter and see what he/she recommends whether it be cut or just bent flatter. we'll see, i'll give ya'll an update.
  6. hey green6767, just a little advice, because i actually work at the hotel you will be staying at. Do the self parking that weekend, don't do the valet. Its going to be a very very busy weekend there, and as much as i hate to say it, but if you do the valet i guarantee you will be late for your tee times and the game. Also, are you taking the car to the game? Do you already know where you will be parking...?
  7. yea i think i will get them cut down...... would love to get a new custom set but i will have to keep these for now. before i experimented w/ this my ball flight was typically a push to the right(right handed). after the grip adjustment, now its pretty much dead straight. (which is such a confidence booster btw, lol :) )
  8. or 'choking down on the club' I went out to the range today to experiment, and gripped down almost a full 3 inches or so. I'm about 5'4" so i'm pretty short. Today i gripped further down just enough so that the bottom of the club was flat or parallel to the ground. And............i've never hit more consistent, straight shots. My divots were also pretty flat(where as before it was kinda of angled, because the bottom of the club was pointing upwards towards the sky) Is this a sign i should have my clubs cut down a little??
  9. sweet.....my gf has taken an interest so i've take her w/ me to some small par3 9 hole courses. and w/ her we'll drop the ball just outside the green and she'll chip it in and have 3 putts to get in the hole LOL. (She has no clue how to swing a club, and i don't plan on teaching her)
  10. There is a place called the practicetee, ( www.thepracticetee.com ). Its about 20 miles from cowboys......I've never been fitted, but ive heard from a couple people they do a decent job, plus its outside. Might be worth a look at.... Its gonna get real expensive real quick w/ the taxis. Do you know anybody at all around the area that could give you a ride?
  11. Been lurking for a couple weeks, just wanted to say hello. I find myself reading the forum more and more. I've never played before and I never really had any interest in golf whatsoever, until about a month ago. I purchased a starter set for my father because he just retired and he mentioned he wanted to start playing(If he gets serious about golfing i want to buy him a set of his choice of course). Then i kinda got jealous, so i bought myself a set and after a day at the driving range i've been hooked. All my equipment was purchased used and for pretty cheap. I usually go to the driving range about 4-5 times a week and i'll play at one of the small par-3 nine hole courses in the area once a week, either Lake Park GC or Westdale Hills GC. I did go with a co-worker to an 18 hole about a week ago(only cause he begged me to go w/ him), and whew not only a workout but it gave me a glimpse into the long road of learning how to play golf for me LOL :P My dream is pretty simple, and thats to just be able to go out to a really nice golf course with my father and have a good time playing. We "could" go now i guess, but he hasn't even used the clubs i bought him yet. I would like to take some lessons sometime, probably won't be until next year. Im so addicted that even at home, im practicing my swing in front of a mirror. My gf hates it LOL, but she's happy i've got a new hobby thats not "dangerous." Anyways, enough rambling........ happy golfing!!
  12. this was actually yesterday, but shot a 40 on a par 29, 9 hole course. First time on a course, lotta fun can't wait to go back again.
  13. I just started playing, but i go by myself i don't care. Matter of fact, today i went out to a nine hole course bymyself and had a blast. Just got my mom, dad, and gf interested so hopefully we'll all be able to play together one day.
  14. New here... i work at a hotel part time and go to college full time for now.
