  1. Been golfing for about 5 years now and I've always used the 10 finger grip. I played hockey when I was younger so I feel like this might have something to do with it. I've never felt comfortable with any other grip and I consider myself a pretty decent golfer. Are there any major disadvantages of using this grip rather than the more popular ones?
  2. Honestly, as long as you have the patience and are willing to put in the practice and effort, you will no doubt get better. I think people not having enough patience is half the reason why they don't enjoy golf or find it boring. How many people want to pay 30-40 dollars to hack around a golf ball for 4-5 hours? Not many. But if you stick with it and put in the work, it is a very reachable goal. The thing with other sports, such as soccer for instance, is that anybody can kick a soccer ball. Literally anyone can run around a kick a soccer ball around. (Please do not mistake this as me saying soccer is easy). But 90% of the time with a golf swing, you will miss the ball completely, or catch a chunk of sod if it is your first time out. I started working at a golf course when I was 15 and let me tell you that I absolutely hated everything about the game of golf. My dad is the superintendent and and tried for years to get me to play and I never liked it. My co-workers always asked me to come out for a round and it never really seemed interesting to me. Then one summer I started golfing nearly 4-5 times a week if not more and now I can say that I shoot between 80-85 regularly. I've broken 80 a few times but when I started I was probably closer to 120-130. Don't give up!
  3. The way I look at tiger now is basically just one of the elite golfers in todays game. Of course I would say top 3 easily but 10 years ago there were the elite golfers and then you had Tiger in his own category... I remember there were times when you could place bets on Tiger Vs the field in certain tournaments. At this point in his career I see him as someone who will still contend for many years to come but I just don't think he'll ever be able to dominate the way he used to.
  4. Just bought a new pair of Puma golf shoes that were originally 200$ + tax. I only paid 116 including tax and shipping! It was such a good deal i couldn't pass it up, Figured id give everyone a heads up. If you spend over 100 its free shipping and if you go to the closeout golf shoes section you can take off an extra 13% off the already discounted prices. So stoked about this and they still have a lot of popular sizes in most of the shoes. Check it out, guys and gals!
  5. I love this show and most of the people that are on it. The only thing I kind of hoped for was to have 2 winners, (man and woman). I enjoy having both genders combined into one show, but I'd prefer if each gender had a winner. Does anyone else agree or am I by myself on this one? lol
  6. I searched for reviews on here, but none were really that recent. I'm looking into buying excellent-mint condition irons from them. Has anyone used them before and are the irons actually in mint/excellent condition when you received them? I appreciate any help! Thank you
  7. Anyone take a golf vacation in Michigan? I'd like to stay in the Lower Peninsula preferably. Just want to hear some reviews on any resorts or places you have been to golf. Probably looking for a 4 day/3 night stay. Thanks!
  8. I used to hit a full 60* from 100, however I found that I was much more consistent by just putting the ball a little up in my stance with a 56*. Love this shot! Its all about what is comfortable to you, I actually have friends that from about 120 and in will only use an 8 Iron. He hits his irons longer than me, probably about 160 with his 8 iron, but likes hitting a low trajectory shot that runs out onto the green. I never liked it, but everyones game is different!
  9. If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy them and how much did you pay? I cant find any stores around me that carry them :/
  10. Hello all, i currently play with the Cleveland Cg7 Tour Black Pearl irons. I like them, but I would like to upgrade to a new set of irons because when I bought them, they were used. Im currently looking at the Tour preferred irons from taylormade but im not sure if i should go with the MC, MB, or CB? As far as I know, the CB is for the higher handicappers then MC for middle and MB for low handicaps. (I could be wrong). Does anyone own a set of these clubs and suggest them? I've hit them all and Im leaning towards the Muscle Cavity (MC).
  11. Im currently 21 years old and I've got approximately 60 general credits from my local community college. Over the past few years I could not decide on what career or field I wanted to get into. After working at a golf course for 6 years, I think this is where I want to stay. I work maintenance and I wouldn't mind being a superintendent or work inside, or even a golf pro. I never played golf competitively, but I do play A LOT. I would say 4-5 times a week and while I'm not ready to become a pro, I feel that if I dedicated myself to golf and took it seriously, I could perhaps get my handicap low enough for the PGM program. My question is about which route is better. Should I transfer to a 4 year university? ( I live in michigan, so I'm very close to Ferris State ). Or should i go into a 2 year program. A friend i used to golf with went to Keiser in florida and he says he loves it, the problem is i'm not sure which route is the better one. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, I know in order to get accepted into the PGM program, you have to have a USGA handicap of 8 i believe. Is this also the case even if I wanted to be a superintendent or run the golf course operations? I would understand why you have to have a good handicap if you want to be an instructor obviously.
  12. Hello all, about 2 years ago i purchased the Cleveland Cg7 black pearl tour irons. At the time, they were a very good price and i felt like it was a steal and i just had to buy them. not a huge mistake, but i think there are other clubs out there that would suit my game much better. my handicap roughly if i had to guess is about 10-12, and i feel like these irons are meant for players with single digit handicaps or even scratch golfers. i would like a club with more forgiveness, however i don't believe i need a beginner set either. any suggestions would be a huge help!
  13. I guess I came off a little different that i intended. The 10 yards to me doesn't really matter, what i was wondering was if it was something i was doing or if it had to do with humidity and temperature (therefore being something i cant even control). But i agree, 10 yards is no big deal, i just wanted to assure myself it wasn't anything that changed in my swing. Thank you for the help!
  14. nope, not at all. thats why its so frustrating.... i feel like nothing has changed but suddenly im hitting my clubs 10 yards short every time.
  15. Okay so a little background info: I work at a golf course and usually i'll get off work around 7 ish so instead of getting all of my clubs together i'll just grab my wedges and a few irons to go hit some balls after work. My Pitching wedge distance has always been 140, gap wedge 125, and 60 degree 105. For some reason in the past 2 weeks my pitching wedge has been down to about 130, gap wedge 115, and 60 degree about 95.... after experimenting with a few other clubs it seems to me that ALL of my iron distances have gone down about 10 yards or about a full club. Nothing has changed with my swing, i typically always hit prov1 or b330-s golf balls. i consider myself a pretty decent golfer but far from scratch. the absolutely only thing i have come up with is that a few weeks ago i played and it was about 80 degrees and humid outside after i went out to play... for the past few weeks since then its been about 55 degrees outside and not humid at all. ( i live in michigan ). does temperature and humidity really have this much affect on your iron/wedge distances or is it something with my swing? Please help!!!
  16. Okay well after receiving my balls last week i golfed the day after. on numerous occasions with the Prov1's i was hitting wedges into the greens and they were spinning just as much as any other prov1 i've ever played. actually, most of the time when i play prov1s they will just bite hard and roll back maybe a couple inches, however on that particular day i remember a few shots with them spinning back two three and sometimes five feet. so my experience with the balls from LGB.com is great.
  17. alrighty, just got my golf balls today. (placed the order last tuesday) and i have to say im pretty happy with them so far. however i did not receive my dozen of AAAA bridgestone balls. but i've heard their customer service is very good so im not too concerned about that. here is what i ordered 12 aaa prov1's 12 aaaa prov1's 12 aaaa bridgestone b330-s 12 aaaaa taylormade rocketballz i bought the rocketballz just out of curiosity, i know they're a relatively new ball so i wanted to see how they played. 3 of these balls had logos, but all of them looked like they literally took them out of the sleeve and into the box shipped to my house. GREAT condition. as for the aaa pro v1s.... yes they may have MINOR scuffs, but when i mean minor, theres pretty much nothing wrong with the ball. all of them i would consider playable. unless you're on the tour or you're just paranoid about it then there is absolutely nothing wrong with these golf balls. i see no point in buying the AAAAA balls because the AAA's are very close to being perfect. as for the AAAA balls i would honestly like to meet the person who said these weren't perfect.... cause i cant find anything wrong with about 10/12 of them. the other 2 had slight blemishes that i would never had noticed if i wasn't looking for it... overall im very happy with my order and will be placing another one in the future. once i figure out the problem with the bridgestones i will report back and let you know how they handled it!
  18. I ended up buying a dozen of AAA, AAAA, and AAAAA just so i can compare and see what the different is... I can buy all three of them and still pay right around what i would for a brand new box so it's worth a shot. I will report back once i receive them in the mail!
  19. Just found this site, and im just wondering what people's thoughts were buying balls from there. Im looking at AAA Pro v1s. Are these playable or should i consider a different ball?
  20. Im looking for a ball that will sit when i hit a solid wedge shot and nice around the greens. Right now i can hit my driver roughly 280-290. Sometimes 300 if i really want to put some power in it (no guarantees the ball will be in the fairway though ) My price range is really anywhere from 20-35. But i've been looking at a website called lostgolfballs.com? Has anyone had experience with this website before? Thanks!
  21. My 5 wood goes about 230-235, and 4 iron is just about 200. So yeah i'd say 30 yards is pretty significant! Its tough when I'm at like 210 and I have to choke up on my 5 wood and try not to hit it as hard. So i was thinking a 4 hybrid (21*) would be the way to go? Cause my 4 iron is 24*. I would like it to have a higher trajectory, also. Thanks for the help!
  22. Okay so currently, i have a 5 wood (18*) and then i have a 4 iron (24*). Should i get a 21* 4 iron hybrid, or a 3 iron hybrid (18*) The guy at carls said 18, but i was a little confused as to why i would buy a hybrid with the same loft as my fairway wood.
