  1. i've got a diamana blue board shaft in my driver and project x rifle shafts in my irons. i've never been happier with my equipment than i am now.
  2. i think golf digest just talked about this recently. the wedge that puts the most spin on the ball are the spin-milled titleist vokey wedges.
  3. i joined a few months ago. joining a country club (especially in sb) is great seeing as the alternative courses just aren't that great anymore and take a long time to play. la cumbre is great and i love their greens. i liked rancho before they did the course changes. #1 was a lot better as a 500 yard par 5 and i think they completely ruined #3. it used to be a really challenging hole where you'd have to place your tee shot and hit into a difficult green over a hazard. now its a 300 yard par 4, i don't get it. i also don't get how they can justify $120 for greens fees on that course. if i'm going to spend that much, i'd assume stay in santa barbara and play at sandpiper.
  4. hey i used to work out at rancho san marcos. it was one of my favorite courses before they re-did a couple holes and i joined la cumbre country club. i actually caddied one day for jimmy connors when he played a match against michael jordan out there. but i digress. as for fast greens, it's just a matter of your comfort level. if you played at RSM more regularly, the speed of the greens wouldn't be an issue and you'd actually probably enjoy them more than slow greens. you'll probably 3 putt less often if you focus more on the speed of the putt(ie: getting the ball close or tapping it as you said above), rather than the line. remember that if you get the speed down, but your line is off by a couple inches, well that just means your tap in putt is going to be a couple of inches rather than a couple of feet if your speed is bad. hope that makes sense.
  5. that actually sounds like a sweet set.
  6. i've been stuck at 7 for a long time. i'd like to be scratch in the near future.
  7. rich, sounds like you may want to test out a set of the combo irons. you said that 7-9 with the blades you were money but were having more trouble with the longer irons. the combo irons are more cavity back on the longer irons and more forged blades as you get closer to the shorter irons. something to consider.
  8. rich, is your index correct? i'd never suggest that someone who was a 20 should play with blades.
  9. i generally like to go to the clubhouse, drink a few beers and play some liars dice. do you have any games/gambling sessions after your round?

  11. thanks for everyone's input. i actually went to www.ironfinder.com and they had the one i was looking for. pretty cool site if this ends up happening to anyone else. thanks.
  12. my buddy did it one time, and liked it a lot. they fit him, advised him on new clubs, ect. but, he said they were pretty agressive about signing him up for a package of lessons and it was NOT cheap.
  13. cool site, didn't have an 8 iron unfortunately. i'll keep checking.
  14. and i feel like a dunce. anyone have any advice on how to get a replacement, save purchasing an entire new set of irons?
  15. that is my suspicion too. i was hoping someone might have some documentation on this. thanks guys, cool forum btw.
