  1. I have the Nike Pro Combo Cb's. The pocket cavity in the 3,4,5 irons make it so easy to hit. Im a 13 hcp with ok ball striking and i have no problem with these clubs. I also got a great deal with Nike. They added $100 to a trade in and gave me a free VR Pro wedge. I got $999 worth of clubs for $720. Also try the Taylormade MC, they were going to be my 2nd choice. Super soft feel and very easy to hit.
  2. One day you should just go to the range and take ONE of your wedges, either the vokey or razr x, NOT BOTH, and just hit it until you can hit that club anywhere from your max distance to a chip. It is a skill that most golfers should have to be able to hit one club many distances. I hit my 56 bladed wedge 100yds for a full swing and use 1/2 and 3/4 swings inside 100yds and i also chip with it. But i also use my 52 bladed wedge for 115 and sometimes for even below 100 depending on pin placement and wind. Controling wedges is an amazing skill and will lower anyones scores.
  3. Try Callway pre owned, they have alot of high quality used clubs. The Razr line is really good and there is a club for everyperson. AP1 is great but i wouldnt say $999 great, but you are a titleist guy so you are in a different mindset. Ping G15, G20, i15, i20 are also really good.
  4. Start with a driver. There is more help in new drivers than any other club. Try ebay or a used section in golf store and find a nice name brand driver. I dont know what your budget is but you should be able to find one for less than 150. Also steel shafts are very normal. Just be ready to dish out some money when you decide to take golf seriously, it is a really expensive sport.
  5. You should also try a bunch of shafts. The shaft makes a HUGE difference on whether the ball goes high or low. The only negative is that most after market shafts are very expensive. Just something to think about.
  6. The i20 driver would help produce a lower ball flight but it is not as forgiving as your R5 or a G20. I have read that it is one of the best performing drivers on the market but it is not for everyone. As a 17-20 hcp with a medium swing speed there is no reason you shouldnt use the most forgiving driver there is. Try a G20, Nike VRS, or Callaway Razr Black, you cannot go wrong with any of these. Even pros are using more forgiving drivers. Of course if you hit the i20 and hit it well then by all means go for what works for you.
  7. im unpatiently waiting for my irons too

  9. Hunter Mahan-276 Sergio Garcia-278 Luke Donald-279
  10. What shaft did you end up with?
  11. I dont want to get off topic and this is all probably true, but no where in the world is there a cast club that is built to exact specs as any forged club. So scientifically this is true but realisticly this situation doesnt exist. Ex: there is no direct cast equivilent to Titleist CB, MB, AP2
  12. Also try a lighter weight shaft. PX 6.0 is 120g and DG S300 is 130g. I was told by a fitter that 100-115 is better for people who have slow-med swing speeds. Im sure the Razr Forged are still fine but you have to hit multiple shafts to find the right combination. You can really tell a difference when you change shafts.
  13. Were you hitting Project X 6.0 in the Razr because that would be way too stiff for a 78mph swing. Project X is best fit for higher swing speeds and more than likely wouldnt help you at all. You could still get the Razr but with a DG S300. Also dont even bother with Ping Anser, they are great but not $1400 great.
  14. Nike VRS, Callaway Razr Fit, Taylormade Rocketballz, Ping G20. You couldnt go wrong with any of these
  15. Simple question, what do you think of them?
  16. I guess i never thought about the blade for the 8-pw, and i am sure they would be perfectly fine too. I just really like the 59 but not for the long irons.
  17. the Mizuno vendor at my course suggested a combo of MP 53 and 59 for me. Both of these are great clubs that would fit your need, a little help in the long irons and playability in the short irons. You should also look at Taylormade MC. These clubs were so easy to hit and felt very soft, the only negative is that the long irons might be tougher to hit. Also Nike Pro Combo should be looked at. I just ordered these yesterday.
  18. To start, durability and consistency are not adjectives you should use to describe clubs. The word you are probably thinking of is forgivenesss(more forgiving=easier to hit in general). I dont know much about complete sets but i would say the wilsons only based on name. I along with everyone else on here will recomend that you get custom fitted no matter what your skill level is and those complete sets wont be able to be custom fitted. What is your price range?
  19. The burner 2.0 is a great iron, i have hit them a few times and they are easy too hit, incredibly long, and reasonably priced. Also the Callaway Razr X are very good too for the money. When it comes to a cheap hybrid, any Adams will be good even some of the older models. Go to a golf store and see if there are any lightly used ones for a good price. Putters are all about feel, so you just have to try some out and see which is the best and definately dont overlook used putters, these are great values.
  20. I dont know if this is a swing problem or a club problem (probably swing). If i were to hit 10 iron shots 9 of them would be off the toe. I am a short guy (5'5") and my clubs are not fit for me. If a club is too upright would a result be consistent off the toe shots or should i just get a lesson and learn a new swing. I am getting new irons soon and will definately be custom fitted.
  21. It seems like you want a cheaper set based on your choices, but if your looking for a cheap set of new clubs i would look at Taylormade Burner 2.0. You can also find Callaway Razr X pretty cheap too. The Burners are really easy to hit and one of the longest clubs i have ever hit. Also, make sure you get custom fitted no matter how much you play or your skill level.
  22. You must have a higher swing speed than me. All i have read about project x is that it is for people with higher swing speeds. The Mizuno fitter also said it would be an option for me to soft step but everything i read said it creates a higher ball flight. So pretty much the fitter said i should get irons that go higher than farther with the combination of XP and soft stepping.
  23. I noticed they launched incredibly high too, so i would like to get fitted from another OEM and see if they recommend something other than XP. I have read on other forums that Mizuno pushes the XP shaft. Unless someone can convince me that a incredibly high ball flight will help my game i probably wont get XP.
  24. I belive the XP shaft is a Mizuno standard, but if I am getting Mizuno I am getting MP 53.
  25. And lefty clubs on ebay are usually cheaper. My dad is lefty and i hate that he can get 2 brand new vokeys for $100
