Check out Callaway Preowned, and try to catch something on one of their frequent sales, I recently got a Diablo Octane driver in "Like New" condition (which as far as I could tell was brand new, still had factory plastic wrappings and stickers) for $111.99.

If you are playing in a group for which there may be a spread of 3 or even 4 "correct" tees depending on the individual players' abilities (say mixed genders/experience) what do you normally do? Is it appropriate for everyone to play "their" tees, or might that slow things down too much?

Thanks, I think their website is just flat out wrong (and there's no rating info on their scorecard either).
-
That's what has me confused - even if they do have a rating, the numbers don't make sense to me, 35.5/113 would be more in line with 9 typical difficulty holes with a par of 36, right? - but I'm new to all this so don't know if I'm missing anything.
-
A 9 hole, par 27, 805 yard Pitch & Putt course near me says on their website that they have a course rating of 35.5 and a slope of 113 - this is likely incorrect, no?? (I do not find them in the USGA database).

Greetings to all...Golf Neophite from San Antonio, Texas
zombywoof replied to Callawayred's topic in Welcome, Everyone
Check out the Golf San Antonio group on meetup, a good way to meet some fun people to get out with. -
Try "wingtips", might help you in your search - good luck.

It appears to me it dims the display slightly when you've selected Alkaline as your battery type, which would make sense from a power conservation standpoint. And FWIW, the (NiMH) rechargeable batteries I've found to perform best for all sorts of digital devices are Sanyo Eneloops.

When practicing chipping/putting at a driving range, or course practice area, do you use their balls (from a bucket you're going to hit) or your own?
-
Say you hit your first tee shot (1 stroke) and think it might be lost, and so to be safe tee up a provisional...you then whiff attempting to hit the provisional (1 stroke) then hit the provisional (2 strokes)...if you then find your first ball, is it your 2nd stroke or does the extra stroke taken with the provisional affect your score? Thanks.

General rules and etiquette for a for a beginner
zombywoof replied to Sighbot's topic in Rules of Golf
The USGA will send you up to 2 copies for a shipping charge of a couple of bucks. -
I understand that in order to get an "official" handicap you need to submit your scores for rounds played on an ongoing basis, and have a couple of beginner questions: What happens if, say, things are going so poorly on a particular hole that in the interest of fast play and not holding up the group you pick up and do not hole out - can you enter a certain maximum number of strokes for that hole as your score (or somehow record a "no score" for that hole at all)? Similar to the above, what if some situation turns up which you are unsure how to handle under the rules, what penalties might apply, etc - can you again enter a maximum score (or no score at all) for that hole? I live very close to a 9 hole par 3 "pitch and putt" course which I know has USGA course/slope ratings - does that indicate that scores generated there are valid for submission for handicap calculation? Do I need a scorecard signed by an opponent (most people there are playing VERY casually)? Thanks in advance.

Ball on Cart Path, nearest relief is back on the tee?
zombywoof replied to bmartin461's topic in Rules of Golf
One stroke for the original tee shot + 1 penalty stroke = the 2nd tee shot being the third shot, no? -
Say I hit my ball into some rough near the green, and after a bit of searching find a ball I assume is mine (though I fail to check) and hit it up onto the green. What happens when I discover the ball isn't mine (stroke play): Upon first encountering it on the green? After putting it one or more times on the green? After holing out? After teeing off on the next hole? (My understanding is that in a tournament situation at some point you are DQ'd, right? - fair enough - but how would you score it for your own purposes in casual play?)

When people talk about "Cart" Bags, are they referring to the hand Carts you push/pull, or the motorized Carts you drive - or both? I'm new to the game, mostly interested in walking (with perhaps fewer than 14 clubs), and was looking to get a lightweight Stand bag like the Callaway Hyper Lite - however, I know some courses require (motorized) Carts - would a bag like this bag be incompatible in any way?? What about a superlight "Sunday" bag? Thanks.

Relief from GUR?

Can someone please clarify the issue the tour offical (on the cart) was discussing with Na?
-
Thanks for the replies so far - no it isn't a tournament, but a very informal outing where (I would think) score is pretty much irrelevant, which led to my confusion...

A person RSVP'd for a local meetup golf event (2 slots) with "my girlfriend and I will play best ball", can anyone please clarify? Thanks...
