  1. Hit the BurnerTP and the CGB today...absolutely loved both of them. I like the look of both heads and both are extraordinarily easy to hit.
  2. Jack is my all time favorite golfer, but Tiger is now clearly the greatest of all time. Jack never dominated the way Tiger does. Yes there were more "closers" in Jack's day, but the tour is much, much more competitive than it has ever been.
  3. I agree about Nantz. He CAN be overly dramatic, but he was a college golfer and is a good player. There have been some lousy ex-player commentators over the years...Curtis Strange, Lanny Wadkins, Trevino, Nicklaus was terrible whenever he would sit in. My pet peeve about ex-players are guys telling stories instead of making observations about the golf. Oh, and Ken Venturi was my all time least favorite, self absorbed commentator.

  5. San Antonio is great for these trips. I went in early March last year and the weather was great and the golf very reasonable. The Quarry, The Republic and a few others are near the airport as well. Give it a look, there are a few websites that specialize in San Antone golf.
  6. Bobby Jones remarked to someone who was improving their lies, etc during a round: "I don't know what game it is you are playing but it isn't golf"
  7. Very well stated...I agree with you 100%. Bogey should always be within reach, birdie should always be a stretch. Auto double bogeys for a shot only missed a touch is silly and not fun.
  8. Played there about 18 months ago and while some think it is over rated, I loved it. I played well so that helped...and made a par at 18 at that!
  9. Innisbrook...Copperhead or Island Legacy at Alaqua Lakes...northeast side of Orlando Falcon Fire...near Disney Skip Mangrove Bay... Bloomingdale in Brandon...not sure of condition these days, terrific track
  10. Troon North is fabulous... Ocotillo is a good value... TPC is fun, but not in the upper echelon of Valley courses... Sedona is a great side trip that will blow you away...
  11. Most of the courses you listed are pretty ordinary...but Pine Needles is excellent. Pinehurst #2 is worth the price, and definitely hire a caddy. #8 is good also, most of the others are just fair. Keith Hills CC in Buies Creek is not too far away and it is excellent. Duke U course is about an hour away and is great also.
  12. I see your point, but where do you draw the line? Cuppy lie? Hard pan? Mud on the ball? I don't see anyway to change this. A divot is part of the course and requires a shot be made from it...else the exceptions would be endless.
  13. Make it a distance penalty only and call it a day.
  14. Cost of our club is about $4k per year. Other charges add another $40 per month. I always walk but carts are $14 if you ride. Club is golf and bar/restaurant only, not other frills, which makes for a great golf atmosphere. Definitely worth the fast rounds, open availability of play and getting with a regular group.
