  1. there is SOOOOOO much that can go into a driving range it's not even funny and a lot of it is common sense stuff that is not done due to laziness i feel. It doesn't have to be 100% state of the art to offer everything that any golfer would need either. Just needs some input from golfers on what a PRACTICE facility should do for them. I know one thing I would do is offer bunkers with different types of sand (and always "churn" the sand in them) on both green side and "fairway". I feel a real pro shop is key as well, everyone LOVES outdoor demos but it's very very hard to find a range with a decent shop side anymore. Also i considered eliminating the need for the pick up cart some how to save the covers of the balls as we all know if you can hear the cover "flapping" after impact that the flight of that ball is irrelevant
  2. how does the dry erase work out? I've always taken a roll of duct tape with me to the range with me that I switch out about ever 5 shots. I love the Duct Tape since it's thick enough to protect the face of my irons from the rocks that driving ranges call golf balls and it's also soft enough that it imprints/tears at the location where the impact was on the face. I really dont know what I would do with out my duct tape at the range. I've thought about opening a range myself and getting "field turf" which is what they are using on soccer, football and lacrosse fields but instead of using the rubber compound that they have on those fields I was going to use a dirt/sand mixture so that you could use tee's like normal ground and the bounce back would be much closer to natural
  3. after discussing with a few people we think that the speed of my 3 iron may be skewed if the monitor wasn't switched from reading a driver. I plan on taking a trip back to the pro shop soon to first off get a print out and 2nd off make sure the monitor is changed for my 3 iron. As far as carry I've hit multiple tee shots on some par 4's and 5's as I've been out and my 3 iron is with in yards of my drive and usually dead straight with the ability to draw or fade if needed (one thing i've never had with a driver)

    Broke 50!

congrats on breaking 50, keep working (the short game is most important to me) and you will soon be breaking 40
  5. sadly his printer was out of ink so I didn't get ALL of the info, and i'm not positive on the monitor model I'm going to be heading back for another session before too long to get the print out and I will get the monitor info then as well. as far as the 3 iron, I am confident in it's read out as I have been doing some charting lately as I have a tournament coming up and I have been right on from 225 - 230 out with it on course and the range.
  6. Ok so I'm at a complete loss right now. I've been talking to a buddy of mine that works at a local pro shop with a launch monitor about my driver woes. He offered me a session to see what we could figure out. So I took my 3 iron and my driver and I am more confused/concerned than I was before. I started with my driver (R7 425) and put out decent numbers everywhere but my carry distance. I held my swing speed in the 100-105 mph and a spin rate between 2500 and 3000 HOWEVER my carry was between 245-255 yards. Next I put my 3 iron to the test, after taking a few swings we turned the monitor back on. Swing speed was 105-108 mph spin rate was 2800-3200 and carry was 225-235. I was a little thrown by just HOW close these clubs performed so we went out and grabbed a Titleist 910 D3 9.5 with 2 different shafts (both stiff). I took a few swings with it and it was feeling pretty good so we turned the monitor back on. Again my swing speed was 100-105 mph, spin rate of 2500-3300 between the 2 however the carry of these drivers were 240-255 yards. So like I said before I'm SUPER confused as to why I'm hitting my 3 iron so close to the distance of my driver.
  7. dont worry snakey, we got her a USKG putter that is SOOO small it's funny. There is about 6-8 inches of shaft between the putter head and the shaft lol
  8. McObra...i'm sure she will be haha she really likes it so far and is very excited to head to the practice green to learn how to putt on her own.
  9. My stepdaughter and I have been going out to the local par 3 courses so she can get out of the house and learn a bit about golf. She has been getting the hang of it, at first she was picking the ball up and handing it to me everytime we got to the ball but after a few rounds she got the hang of leaving it where it is to play the next shot. From there she wanted to start helping carrying the clubs so she got to carry my putter from the green to the next tee box. Her 4th birthday is sunday july 22nd so her mom and I went out and got her some golf stuff for her so she can start learning to putt. We got her a USKG putter and some super bright spongebob golf balls. here she is on the course with me from earlier this week
  10. for me out of the options I would choose uphill over downhill and I would choose to have the ball above my feet as opposed to having it below my feet. I find it easier to add a club to account for the added loft of the uphill lie instead of taking a club away due to decreased loft of the downhill lie. Also I would much rather have to hold the toe strong on a lie with the ball above my feet (i can only assume you mean a sidehill lie) instead of holding on to the hossel with the ball below my feet.
  11. So I went out today to get my step daughter a putter for her 4th birthday that is on sunday as she likes to walk the course with me and help me putt at the par 3 course thats right by my house. While I was in the pro shop I was looking around at the drivers as I'm in the market for a new one and came across some Mizuno MP-14 so I grabbed the 5 iron and took it to the demo range and it instantly reminded me how much I love Mizuno irons. I talked to the guys at the desk and since there was no 6 iron traded in with the set I got them for $70. I took them out today to do some distance charting with them and man they're amazing. The only thing I need to do is regroove them. I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on regrooving tools or if this is something I could send in somewhere to have the whole club head reworked? Thanks
  12. I fully disagree with the statement made about golf being priced to weed out trash. I have met a TON of wealthy people that are pure trash and a TON of non wealthy people that were great people and became very accomplished golfers, hockey players, soccer players, tennis player, etc. In my opinion the balance of your checking or savings account doesn't indicate trash or class. ~Zero~
  13. not to sound condescending but millions of people do just that evey year with normal universities in todays job market dont they?
  14. Well I've been wanting to do this for a few years now and my fiance graduates nursing school after this year so I think I may get the chance to finally make it down there. I'm looking into the Orlando campus, anyone here been there and have any feedback on the school? Is it worth the $30,000 that it will cost me start to finish or should I go a different route? Thanks Zero
  15. O.K. i'm at a loss right now when I hit the course on my own, get paired with a random player (good bad or indifferent) or a golf buddy I am playing great...able to work the ball with all clubs, hit my distances, stay focused play the game I need to play to score well. BUT...as soon as I walk on the course with my dad (who I got into the game so we could have something to do together) my game goes to hell in a handbasket. Pull my head, hit high slices with my driver, hit irons all sorts of distances, my short game is completely gone and my putter well i should just leave it in the car with my driver. I'm not sure if i'm just not comfortable enough to go out with him and really play my game or what but I feel like it is causing bad habits in my game that I have to go back and repair. I am starting to wonder if this is a situation where I leave my driver home and play iron only golf to work on shots from different distances and look at it as purely practice. Any thoughts are welcome as I'm personally unsure of what to do Zero
