  1. thanks. I was thinking about a platform of sorts in order to put in holes but to also soften the feel of chips landing on it. Was wondering in some thick rubber under carpet squares or artificial grass would dampen chips bouncing off the concrete?
  2. I am going to build a big putting green in my basement that I can putt on as well as chip to. Unfortunately I live in Singapore so there aren't any synthetic green manufacturers or suppliers here. Does anyone have thoughts on doing this myself or about kit style projects I could get shipped in?
  3. I have the 16, 19 and 21 degree - number 2,3 and 4 respectively. I find they are almost a club longer than the equivilent iron. I don't think it is a consitency issue (although you will be much more consistent with the hybrids). If you are replacing your 3 iron with the 19*, expect to have quite a distance gap between your 4 iron and the 3 hybrid.
  4. I currently use Titleist 735's - which transition from blades in the short irons to every so slight forgiveness in the longer ones. I'm not playing often enough to do them justice and am going to 'downgrade' to more forgiving irons. Any advice? I'd prefer forged or at least some feel. I'd rather not too much offset either. Just looking for something to help with the fact I can only play once a fortnight and rarely get to hit practice balls.
  5. Straight back and through only makes sense if your putter shaft was was perfectly vertical (illegal). Utley's method is the go. The one major problem - his two books must be amoung the most poorly written golf books I've come across. That said, the results once you grind through it are fantastic.
  6. At an Australian tournament a few years ago Geoff Ogilvy and Mike Clayton hit Pro V's with persimmon drivers and old Balata balls with new drivers. The persimmon driver and new ball combo wasn't much different from their current set up. The old ball with there current driver was much, much short and very wayward. I'd love to find an old persimmon driver - the feel of my old mcgregor driver (long time sold) was amazing
  7. I recently bought an old school blade putter like the one Ben Crenshaw uses and like I used as a kid. 30 foot putts come up 6 feet short if you don't hit the middle of the blade. After using modern blade putters (ie. scotty cameron) and a mallet (2-ball) it is amazing the difference. As great as a true blade looks and feels - its out of my bag after one round. No wonder nobody on tour uses them any more
