  1. This is where I get start to get irritated, Smallville. The people whose taxes are going to be raised are not poor, and they will be in no way poor after their rates (again, for the top two brackets) revert to what they were under Clinton.
  2. So what's your point? It's not good enough to be just plain old profitable , you have to be really stinking profitable?... or else you're being insulted ????
  3. jmoc, the 35k salary is 100% deductible, plus you would receive an additional 3k tax credit incentive. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you wouldn't bother with the the $35k salary unless you thought it was going to return significantly more than that in revenue and ultimately net income. Who is insulting whose intelligence?
  4. Semantics, Smallville. His tax proprosals have remained consistent: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2...tax_hooey.html
  5. Remember when people used to say the Hubble Telescope was a joke? Awesome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eta_Carinae
  6. How so, Smallville? Do you have inside information? How do you see these things? I don't think much of anything has changed. I believe (based on available information) that at $200k and below, you would see a cut, from $200k to $250k things remain the same. And and above $250k & $370k the brackets go from 33% and 35% to 36% and 39% respectively.
  7. Oh come on. You all know that Biden fumbled on his words again. Don't be disingenuous. Plain and simple: The Obama tax plan has the top two income brackets reverting to what they where under Clinton. That's it.
  8. That was ganj trying to be funny, and failing. It was trollish. He can't always be on. As for you, I think it would be nice if you tried to be a little more mature and civil and less ready to start a fight.
  9. The guy who made the "Are You Better Off" ad for Reagan in 1980, has revamped his famous spot as an Obama ad.
  10. The installation may be in Japan, but apparently this was designed and created by a German artist named Julius Popp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Popp
  11. Don't let anyone ever tell you you're not funny.
  12. wow. thanks smallville!
  13. Nice! Congratulations on having such talented nephews!
  14. Look at the determination in his eyes! I hope I can duplicate this scenario with my little guy in about 3 years
  15. I think I hate this kid http://www.ohio.com/sports/32997839.html Watch the videos down at the bottom. I'm am at a loss to explain how such a noodle-like swing creates such accuracy. Wow
  16. Wilco - Kicking Television: Live in Chicago
  17. If you were talking to me, I'd say I would prefer people actually think and formulate ideas and arguments rather than resort to cheap clichés that demean public discourse and contribute to a misinformed, misled society.
  18. The laws differ from state to state, and this has already been discussed. And you can google Louisanna law about it. Louisanna officers can pull people over for not using seatbelts as the primary offense.
  19. jonathans, do you always base your behavior on the behavior of others? Let's leave the officers personal shortcomings real or imagineed out of it. It makes no difference what he did. None. You breaking the law and being caught for it is what's at issue. You are coming off as very immature here. Seriously. You broke the law. An officer who's job is to enforce the law cited you for it. You deserved the citation. If he broke the law or policy or whatever has no bearing on whether or not you should have been given a ticket. Take responsiblity for your own actions and worry about yourself. As I said before, if you are that concerned about the officers behavior, file a complaint. It's your right. And I'm sorry, just because you have friends who are in law enforcement who've 'got your back' doesn't really change anything. They could be wrong. Why don't you go down to the precinct headquarters and ask the police chief about it?
  20. hey Jonathan, mang. There is a difference between departmental policy and law . And again, it really doesn't make any difference does it? You broke the law, you got busted. That's the way its supposed to be. If you really have an issue with the officer, why don't you file a complaint?
  21. Who cares? Whether or not he deserves his own ticket is another subject... you weren't wearing yours, you were in violation of the law and it was his job to give you a ticket. It may create a paradox on the personal level of the officer in question, but between you and "the law" there is no paradox or problem. You deserved your ticket. End of story. Also, usually police are exempt from most traffic law, because their job often requires them to break them. I think things like officers wearing seatbelts is usually covered under departmental policy. I recall reading somewhere that very few on-duty officers wear seat-belts.
  22. There is a difference between wondering WTF and buying into a conspiracy. You must have noticed this coincidence yourself, haven't you? It's just weird. That's all. But also, I don't necessarily believe that just because the global oil business is huge and complex that there isn't any way for groups of like-minded, powerful individuals to exert control or manipulate the system in a way that could affect prices. I remain skeptical of almost everything I'm told. I've been that way since parochial school
  23. Hey Smallville, I wasn't avoiding your post, I hadn't checked back in that thread since it hasn't historically interested me. If you only drive an average of 60 or 70 miles a week, you don't worry about the price of gas too much. Although it does eventually affect the price of everything else. I didn't really think it was a conspiracy. It's just odd. It's happened a lot if memory serves. Including mid-term elections.
  24. Erik shut down the "Conservatives Endorse Obama" thread. Likely because it was getting a little nasty, and silly me, I said "I'm through with this thread." Anyway, I'll post this here. Things are not looking up when one of your own campaign advisors switches sides and endorses your opponent: Reagan Appointee and (Recent) McCain Adviser Charles Fried Supports Obama .
