  1. I play the AP1s, 8 hcp, clearly a hacker's club, but I like them...
  2. If you can hit a significant draw with any short iron, you are good... Otherwise, the CG14 are very workable, can hit them high or low, feel soft, great turf interaction (for me).
  3. I have a Yes Callie, which I like ... on fast greens. Here in the Pacific NW, we get often lush, slow greens. Both the Yes and Rife putters have a very low loft, 2* or 1.5*. I think that's not enough on somewhat shaggy greens, and you leave putts short all day...
  4. I agree. Most (not all) really good players want to be able to hit it low/high. For myself (only an 8), I take a high/straight/long shot all day long.
  5. While I'm agreeing with a lot of the answers, the original question was "Why Don't Low Handicappers use Forgiving Irons?". The answer is: a lot of them actually do. Personal preference, strength or weaknesses, style of play, location, time to practice, etc. Also, this depends on your definition of low handicap. To me, that starts around a 5 hcp. "Never let reality interfere with your perception".
  6. Thanks for the compliment, I'm 48...
  7. Sorry, it wasn't meant as an insult, just a bit of humor... Anyway, maybe you should also a bit more careful with accusing walkers of wasting their time on the golf course and not having a life. Peace. Only the best to you.
  8. Come to Oregon! All the courses allow walking, and almost all of them are truly walkable. Of course, Bandon Dunes courses are walking only. (However, somebody's yellow/black shoes may get some sand on them..)
  9. We should probably end this discussion. However, why do you insist that walking slows down play? Cart path only (on some holes), 90* rule, two people in one cart driving all over the place - these are things that make play slow. I play as fast or faster walking as two players in a cart.
  10. If you liked the AP2s, but you think they are a bit too much, demo the AP1s. Good luck.
  11. I played on Sun in a threesome, all walking. Played in 3hrs 20min. Carts don't speed up play.
  12. Have been playing them for a couple of months. Best irons (for me, 8.3 hcp) in the last 10 years or so... I got fitted. I ended up (somewhat suprisingly) with the DG HL S300. The only thing I have to get used to is that I'm hiiting them almost one club longer. Thus, my old yardages are off. Good luck.
  13. Of course, you should all be walking (if physically possible). Using carts is an american disease...
  14. I'm an 8.3, and the AP1s have been working great for me. I have had them for about three months. The main advantage is that I hardly lose any distance with the few marginal iron shots per round. Good luck.
  15. I agree. I got a CG14 54*. It feels and plays great! Also, while I'm fine with the gel insert, I didn't like the yellow color. So ... after 10 minutes with a black Sharpie it is one cool looking wedge (especially with the BlackPearl finish) !!! (I have played at least 10 rounds with this wedge, the black color does not come off!)
  16. 70% ?? So if you hit it for example 250y total, you get 75y roll?
  17. I got fitted (with the new Titleist fitting cart that allows the shaft/head combo to be changed..). I was initially looking at the AP2, but the AP1s are better for me (I'm a 8-9 hcp). IMO, they look great (no gooseneck, not too much offset), feel even better (much, much better than the R7 and Tour Burner), great mid/high ball flight, was able to hit a draw or fade (which I don't try very often). This is not an auto draw club. The shorter clubs do not have much offset. I ordered a set with the DG HL S300. Initially, I was set on the regular Dynamic Gold, but the HL is just a bit softer and the launch angle was within 1* (per Trackman, 6iron 86mph clubhead, 126mph ball, carry was hard to judge due to cool weather and range balls but I estimate close to 170y). I threw darts at a 110y flag with the W! They may be best for the 6-15 hcp level, but that's just my opinion.. Good luck.
