  1. Thanks to both of you, this was exactly my question.
  2. So I'm going through a very big grip change. I'm very much self-taught, but when i had a quick 10 min lesson with a pga pro i happened to get partnered with he said I had a good looking swing and some potential, but I really needed to work on the grip. So i practiced what he showed me, bought hogan's 5 lessons and have completely changed my grip. I now overlap rather than interlock, I'm in the fingers with the right hand as i should be, I'm now much more neutral with the left hand (I used to be super strong), and I'm seeing great results in terms of consistency. My question is about the left hand. I can't always get comfortable with this hand on the club. I can't figure out how to lay my thumb on the shaft. If I put my thumb down intuitively after i grip the club with the rest of my fingers, feel like there is a large space by my palm and the grip (in the picture its the lifeline crease which has this pocket). If i grip it with my thumb extended down the shaft, it feels more like I am palming the club. Whats correct?
  3. I Played 12 holes of par 3 before the snow came back and ruined everything... and i managed to shoot +4. This would normally be pretty darn good for me, but i actually played a lot better than that. I hit 10 of 12 greens, with one miss coming when my ball rocketed off the green like it was concrete because it was frozen solid. Putting was killer, but that was to be expected because i've not putted for months...
  4. Pelz says leave it in! I never take it out.
  5. Rockbottomgolf is awesome. I've bought my irons, my hybrid, and my putter in separate transactions from them and always had a perfect experience...
  6. 1) Maintain spine angle 2) Keep your right leg solid throughout the back swing.
  7. Yes this is true. My swing speed is around 105 with the driver. In fact you are bringing up one of the only issues i have with this set: I believe the pitching wedge is 45*, and I carry that 135-140, which gives me issues because the "Gap" my 52* gap wedge is supposed to be covering is too big. My 52* cleveland gap wedge flies about 105 which leaves another pretty large "gap". I'm going to have to go to a 50* wedge sometime in the future. I didn't mean to say that these clubs are extra long or anything, i just wanted to try to represent the performance these clubs give me because i believe i have a simmilar swing speed to the person asking about these irons. But you bring up a good point for sure.

  9. First of all, I think a lot of people confuse carry with distance. I swing about 105, use an r5 draw with stiff prolaunch blue, and my carry is 260, with the ball rolling to about 280. I think you should be sure to include both measurements, but carry to me is the more telling stat. Also, some people think that their best drives represent how far they hit their driver. If I really go after it, I can carry 280 (and have hit greens 280 yards away with a tee shot), but thats not how far I would say I "hit my driver". With my most reliable full swing, i "hit my driver" 260. And the longest drive for me was 400 yards... It was in the altitude of Utah off the side of a mountain with a 30+ mph win at my back... just missed hitting the green 415 yards away... pretty awesome.
  10. I use T.M. rac os2s, and honestly I absolutely love them. They are my second set of irons, and I was instantly a better ball striker. They are also an excellent value. You can get them for 330.00 brand new online... (am i allowed to name websites on this forum? I'm new, i don't know the rules yet...) I have them with stiff flex steel shafts, as I am also a pretty fast swinger. My 9 iron carry is 150 yards, 4 iron is 210. You are correct that these irons hit a high ball, they do so for me even though I am a sweeper and don't take much of a divot even with short irons. Any short to mid iron is almost certain to stop for me on all but the fastest greens due to the high trajectory. Pitching wedges spin back a couple feet quite often. But honestly, I don't think you're going to have issues with ballooning shots or a loss of distance with these irons, unless you are teeing the ball way too high, or know something i don't. I think these are well worth looking into. They may be a few years older, but they are really great irons. I have not met anyone yet who tried them and did not like them (my best golfing buddy also uses them, and they are the rental clubs at my local course). As far as personal preference on offset and set up goes, i can't help you there, but i will say that confidence at address is an issue for me as well and I like they way these set up and look.
