  1. Sadly I can't stand the white styling. Purely personal I understand but I hate white on most things even though it's fashionable again. Means I won't be considering the club. Shame cos I'm sure it's a great club to hit with.
  2. I've no issue with playing 18 holes by myself but lots of clubs around me will generally advise that you should only book as at least a pair at the weekend. Some even go so far as to say that if they're busy any pairs can be put together to make a 4 ball at the clubs discretion.
  3. I was chatting to my golf pro the other day and he was telling me how most of the big companies bring out their new line-ups each year and they stop making the old model and let the previous year's clubs just filter out into the shops until they run out. So it's always possible to pick up a discount but you have to get lucky. However from this year Titleist are changing so that the 2012 line-up will still be manufactured until later in 2013 and sold at a lower price point than the new 2013 models. They reckon (and rightly so in my opinion) that lots of people would rather spend £150-200 on last year's Driver line used by Rory McIlroy, etc, rather than spend the same amount on the 2013 model of a 'lesser' brand. As much as the big companies would like us to believe that 2013 models are massively different to 2012 there probably isn't a great deal at all (other than the increased adjustability that everyone has started). I think the new Titleist 913 Drivers are already in some shops so there are probably already discounts on the 910 models. It will largely depend on your golf pro and what they want to do. Might be worth asking your local pro.
  4. I would probably agree, but personally I've found that while I'm very good with my 3Hy (21 ° ) my (18 °) 5 wood is not as consistent of the deck. I've only had it a couple of months so I'm not concerned and I'm already loads better with it. I'm about to have my first lesson as well so it might be worth this for you 3Hy. I personally reckon a 3Hy is easier to hit than a Wood because the shaft is shorter and much closer to your iron equivalent, though some people find its the other way around.
  5. You could pretty much be me. My Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome Irons are strong and given me a 44 ° PW. I've added 50 ° and 56 ° MD Golf NV Drew wedges and considering a 60 ° Cleveland CG16 Black Pearl for my loft wedge which I've found on offer. I love my Cleveland irons and the Cleveland wedges are generally considered some of the best around so I reckon the Black Pearl wedges will be a good shout.
  6. I've found that a 5 Wood is generally 18 ° or 19 °. Sometimes made or bent to 17 ° or 20 ° but I would say 18 ° is average. Equal in loft to a typical 2 Iron .
  7. My Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome irons are strong and so my setup is: 4-21° 5-24° 6-27° 7-31° 8-35° 9-39° PW-44° Then I have 50° & 56° MD Golf NV Drew wedges. 6° gaps for wedges is fine for more as I'm good at working the wedges well, but most golfers seem to have a 5° or 4° gap between their wedges. Thinking about adding a 60° loft as well which I can bend to 61° or 62° if I think I can handle it.
  8. I'm trying to fill out my bag and am looking at my wedge setup. My Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome iron set is quite strong with the Pitching Wedge being 44 ° . I've then got 6 ° gaps between my next two clubs which are 50 ° and 56 ° MD Golf NV Drew Wedges. While larger than some, I'm happy with these gaps as I'm quite good at working between the spacings. However I find it difficult to hit the ball on 20-40 yard approaches to stop quickly so I am looking at a lob wedge. I'm currently thinking either 60 ° or 62 ° and have the following questions: 1) I'm only a 20 handicap and have never used a 62 ° so do people think this club will be either too difficult/unpredictable or simply more limited by what it can do? 2) Most people seem to have 4 ° gaps between their wedges so I don't suppose many people would have any issue with a 56 ° to 60 ° gap. Do people agree or would anyone suggest keeping the 6 ° gap? 3) If I'm going for 60 ° I could get a MD Golf NV Drew wedge for £50 to match the wedges which has it's advantages. However American Golf is offering a 60 ° Cleveland CG16 Black Pearl in the sales for £50 (normally about £80) which I like. Do people think this would be fine or would people recommend keeping the wedges from the same company line-up for consistency? I can get the NV Drew anytime but the Cleveland deal will only be while stocks last I assume. 4) What bounce would people recommend on the lob wedge? Suggestions for both 60 ° and 62 ° if different please. If I get the 60 ° and then decide I want more loft I assume I can ask my Pro to bend it further down the line. Thanks in advance. That was a longer post than I was planning.
