  1. Would you recommend that i use my 5 iron to tee off as well?
  2. I agree that it makes since to keep the driver out of my bag when I play. But, I was thinking that I should get one (at a decent price) and learn how to hit it at the range. I am not dead set on buying one - just have been considering it to learn. On a side note - would to much loft be bad for a driver? Is the only downside on a higher loft club would be you would lose distance and maybe not use it during winding times? Thanks for the input.
  3. I am a very high handicap player (35) and i'm in the market for a driver. I've been hitting quite a few and have decided on the Adams Insight BUL (2007). The question I have is while hitting it - i've only been able to hit a 9.5 and a 10.5 loft. I was not able to hit a 12.5. BUt, I can order one online. Is a 12.5 loft driver better for a new player? The folks at the store told me that 10.5 would be just fine - but did not have a 12.5 in stock and I thought they just wanted the sale. Should I get a 10.5 or a 12.5 loft? I really want to have more control/accuracy vs. distance at this point in time.
  4. I just bought the 2007 3 pak at rockbottom for $69.99 shipped. You can't beat the price and they are a pretty good club as well. I've also seen them at Dick's for $79.
  5. Thanks for the info. It is kind of funny the guys at Golfsmith were really pushing these hybrids - telling me that they compare to almost any of the other hybrids - That I was considering: (Adams A2OS & Idea Tech OS, Cleveland Halo, Nickent 3DX, and Cobra Baffler DWS.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these clubs? I think they are a Golfsmith brand. I noticed that they were only $39 (Lynx Hy- Launch 07). I'm looking for some suggestions for a budget hybrid -3. I would like to keep the price below $80 if possible.
  7. Thanks for the link for the wedges. I guess I was just a little worried about these since they are at such a great price.
  8. I just purchased a new set of Cobra S9 irons (4 - GW). I am a very high handicapper and now need to look at getting a hybrid and some wedges? I was hoping to get a hybrid for about a $100. Any suggestions on what to look for? Regarding the wedges, my cobras come with a PW - 44 and GW - 49. Do I need to get something like a 54 and 60 wedge? Does anyone have any experience with the Adams "Tom Watson" wedges? They have a 3 pak 52/56/60 for $99. I plan on taking some lessons to really improve this summer and plan to purchase a driver later this fall.
  9. Larlev - I appreciate the advice and will follow it. I agree I think it does make since to buy new clubs and start off on a new foot. By the way, when you bought your clubs on e-bay did you get the custom fit afterwords or did you search for clubs that met your specs? Once again thanks for your comments.
  10. Thanks for all the advice. During my lessons - I will ask the pro if I should have any concerns with my current clubs. I'm a little concerned that they are not the right fit, etc for me at this point. I will take some lessons, hit the range and course a few times and decide from there if it makes since to buy new clubs or not. I was just thinking that it might make since to get some decent clubs and the lessons at the same time - that way the pro can work with me on a set that might last me another 5 or 6 years.
  11. So if I do get fitted, what will they tell me? Will it just be the length of the club and the lie? (I'm 5'10"). When I get fitted and buy the clubs, do they charge additional to change the lie? In other words, if I buy Big Bertha's ($599) - do I pay an additional fee for them to change the length and/or lie?
  12. I am getting back into the sport. I plan on taking lessons to help my game (i really don't have one). I currently have a set of 15 year old irons (Ping Zing knock offs). I want to spend less than $500 for the irons. I'm guessing that I should start out with the super game improvement level? Would that be correct? I plan on playing no more than twice month. My questions are this. Should I take some lessons, play a few rounds, and go to the range with my current set of clubs? Or should I test out some new clubs and buy now? I have never been able to hit my old clubs very well at all and am I'm thinking the new clubs could help out during my lessons? Any advice would be great. I plan on buying drivers down the road once I'm hitting the ball straight, etc. Also, regarding getting clubs fitted. Is that something that is important for someone like myself. How could I get fitted, if I don't have a consistent swing yet? I'm considering the following Irons: Callaway Big Bertha or X-18 Nike - Sling Shot OSS Cobra SP or FP Adams a2OS
  13. I'm still very new to the sport. I'm looking to play at multiple courses in my area. Here is one that is very close. http://www.ridgeviewgc.com/
  14. I work in logistics.
  15. Since I'm fairly new to golf .... It has to be Tiger.
