  1. My #1 option is the driver. Whenever I use a hybrid or fairway iron, I usually get the ball to high into the air and into the low-hanging tree branches. I just choke up on the driver, move the ball back in my stands and swing the club like a putter. this works great, plus it allows me to pick up some distance (depending upon how hard I swing the club).
  2. Has anyone else had problems with the Golflogix Puttbreak feature on an android phone. Mine requires the app to reboot everytime I take my phone out of my pocket and activate the screen. This eats up valuable time and battery. I want to turn off this feature but cannot find a place on the program that gives that option. So far Goflogix has not responded to my requests. Any suggestions are apprciated.
  3. Thanks. I will try your tip and see what happens.
  4. Good question. I have tried a modified version of the Stack & Tilt, tried to keep my weight back, centered, and forward. Nothing seems to help. I believe that my swing has been so bad for so long that now that I am getting better, this portion of my old, bad habits just won't go away.

  6. I am a 67 YO retiree with a 24.5 handicap who consistently strikes the ground first -- about 1-2 inches behind the ball -- no matter what club is in my hand. I have tried moving the ball forward and backwards in my stance. I also have tried focusing on the front, center, and rear of the ball prior to starting my swing. Nothing has changed. When I strike the ball first, the results are good. Drives somewhere between 220 - 230. Lately, my swing has become much more consistent that ever before. But, that consistency means that I am striking the same spot -- about two inches behind my aim point -- no matter what club is in my hand. Are there any others out there who have suffered with this same problem? If so, what have you tried to help solve the problem? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  7. As is stated above by others, IMO both Scott and Bernard clearly violate the spirit of this new rule. Also IMO the one clear remedy is to take a step that the RNA/USGA failed to do earlier -- limit the maximum putter length for tournament play. And, any contact by the putter or hand/wrist in contact with the putter on any part of the body above the forearm is a violation and subject to a penalty. Scott and Bernard are both in violation from what I see, and the PGA / USGA should enforce that rule. However, by limiting the putter's maximum length, this grey area could be eliminated.
  8. Just a follow up: I bought a sleeve for a round earlier this week. Again, I am a high handicapper with a driver swing speed of somewhere between 75 - 85. For me, this ball is a bit too soft with a bit too much spin. Although I did hit two good drives (straight and longer than usual), for the most part I found its distance and direction to be lacking. This ball probably will work for someone younger or with better skills. But, IMO this ball is not designed for an old fart like me. So far, the one that I prefer is the Sirxon Q Star Tour. Much better results than the Titleist Tour Soft for me.
  9. Has anyone tried the new Titleist Tour Soft golf ball yet? If so, what are your thoughts. Especially, is it recommended for a high handicapper with swing speed of about 80 MPH?
  10. Thanks. That article is one of the simplest and easiest to understand articles that I have seen on the subject. It's a lot clearer that the USGA rulebook.
  11. Don;t be an ass. You know the answer to his question, give it to him. If not, just move on!
  12. Can someone who actually knows the rules of golf explain the real difference as to what the water hazard rules are concerning those marked with yellow stakes and lines vs. those with red stakes and lines? Is there a difference concerning where the next shot is played? If so, what is it? Also, when can the next shot be played on the far side of the water hazard? Thanks.
  13. +1000. Political statements have no place in this discussion
  14. Any more votes for Jim Furyk?
  15. This is one of the many rules that need to be modified under the USGA's 'Pace of Play' promotion. IMO, unless you in a PGA or USGA National tornament, you would be allowed to delclare the ball lost or unplayable, and then drop at the nearest point that's no closer to the hole with a 2 stroke penalty (aka stroke and distance from the tee. In either case, you would be hitting three from that point. This will greatly speed up the pace of play on most public, and alot of private, courses. The rule that yo have to go back to the tee is very self defeating and must be changed if there is to be any improvement in the 'pace of play' on amateur golfing ranks.
