  1. try the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi Looks kind of like an iron with a fat sole. They have an 18* you could try.
  2. I have a couple, I acutally like to collect them I have a Ping Eye 2 1 iron, and a Ping Zing 1 iron. Sometimes I play with them just for the challenge. How does the saying go - "only God and Lee Travino can hit a 1 iron?" Or was it "Not even God can hit a 1 iron"
  3. thanks for the quick responses. I will definately get out to the range tomorrow and swing those long irons with that mindset. I have a couple of things I am working on right now ... 1. Good weight transfer to the inside of the right foot on takeaway, good transfer to left on followthrough 2. Swining more on direction of flight (more up and down) 3. Swing easy. I try to read as much as possible but I dont try to absorb too much. I feel that trying to learn too many tips at once will just be a hinderance to my game
  4. New to the forum, everyone on here seems really cool and it seems like there are some legit golfers out there. I need your help formulating a plan to get me to the next level. I would guess my next level would be to drop my handicapp from 19 to 14, or consistently scoring in the 80s. Strong Parts of my Game - - Short Game, pitches, chips, anything from 100 yards and in, especially shots around the green. This is where I save most of my strokes, getting up and down. - Mid to high Irons - I am alright with my 6, 7, and 8 Average Parts of my Game - Putting - I have been focusing on Pelz method, straight forward and straight back, keeping my head still, and I actually have been holing a couple longer putts. Last year I had no chance from 15' but now I have some confidence. I would say I am steadily improving here. I still miss some 3-4'ers tho. Weak Parts of my Game - Long Irons - 3, 4, 5. - Driving (Accuracy and distance) - 3, 5 Wood - actually these should be under average. I can hit these alright. I like my 5 wood from the fairway So any thoughts? I try to get to the range 2x per week and I usually play 9 during the week and 18 on the weekend. I try to spend time at the chipping green but with the way my game is right now, I need help with my long irons and driving. I took a lesson and my instructor worked with me on standing more upright, and standing a bit further away from the ball, being in an athletic position, while still trying to swing up and down. I have been working on these things, but I am sure it is going to take some time. ANyone else can share a story on how they went from shooting low 90s to mid 80s?
  5. Suprised there is not more votes for Mizuno I love the MP-Ts!
  6. I play the V Steels. Also my instructor who is a Titleist sponsored player who playes on the Canadian Tour and some US Tour events has Titleist everything except he has a V Steel 3 Wood.
  7. thanks for the responses. I play all the time. I noticed that playing from the blues usually helps my handicapp more. I seem to shoot the same scores from either holes.
  8. See this I dont mind. If I am playing a social round and someone wants to move his ball off a root, or off a rock etc. sure go ahead, clubs are expensive.
  9. I have the Cobra FPs too. PW - 45* GW - 50* SW - 56* Mizuno MP-T Raw Haze (10 bounce) also I just bought a LW 60* Mizuno MP-T (5 bounce). I think I will throw it in the bag for short courses so I have more options from 100 yards and in.
  10. I use them. A $5.00 dollar set I got on ebay from Hong Kong. Pretty nice, have a zippered side. Takes me half a second to take them off, another half second to put them back on. If that is too long for someone, then they can just wait!
  11. I have been playing a significant amount the last 11 months after a 8 year layoff. I have been keeping track of my handicapp for the last couple of months also. Counting all my strokes I think I am a legit 19 'capper. Should I be playing the whites or the blues? I'm not a long hitter. What do other high teen handicappers play?
  12. Just shot a 41 on this par 32, 9 hole course in Laguna Beach. Called Aliso Creek. I had a 3 hole stretch where I went par - birdie - par Unfortunatley I finished up with a double bogey
  13. I have an 18* Mizuno Fli-Hi, steel shaft with regular flex. I got it cause I always played with a 2 iron growing up. I am still learning how to hit it properly but shure looks good at address. I still cant quite get used to a real hybrid.
  14. Smoked this driver about 250 today. Usually a long drive for me is 225.
  15. hmm ... Right now I have Driver 3 wood 5 wood OR 18* hybrid 3-PW 50* Gap Wedge 56* SW Putter I would probably add a 14* hybrid or 60* lob wedge.
