  1. I did try the King Cobras but to me the Slingshots really get the ball in the air alot quicker and higher and the forgiviness is SILLY!! and for someone shooting in the low 90's you need that!
  2. Hey dont go hating on the Slingshots...I happen to own a very nice set of Nike Slingshot OSS and besides the look(yes they are pretty ugly) they are the best irons for the price (399) at Dicks. But hey Im not bias to Nike at all...Just check out my bag!! HAHA
  3. HaHa Well ....I had read somewhere that is worked and my wife had some so i tried it and sure enough BAM!! But like I said the first time turned out horrible so when I went to Foodlion I looked kinda silly buying 5 things of Nail Polish Remover(I bought so many knowing this was gonna take many attempts)lol
  4. Hey thanks for all the compliments...Just want to add for all those who wanna try it yourself is dont expect to get it your first try. It literally took my 5 times to get it right. And to add to Harrys instructions...Nail polish remover works just as well. I used nail polisher remover with acitone to take the original paint out and nail polish remover with out acetone to whipe away the smudges when I was all done. If anyone needs any help or guidance let me know
  5. Pretty much exactly what I did expect I used a toothpick instead of a paintbrush
  6. Well it looks like the Nike Thread has taken off..If I am not mistaken though hasnt this "Nike Golf" debate taken place millions of times. And It usually attracts a handful of different people. There is the "I play Nike cause Tiger does, how can it be bad" guy. Then the always understanding, "Nike sucks, they bought there way into golf, If it wasnt for Tiger thed be nowhere"guy. My personaly favorite and whom I was at one point, "Nike clubs just make me look cool and hip" guy! But I have grown into "Nike has improved but I play what works for me" guy. And because I was that third guy, I learned to play with what I had. Partly because most my equipment where gifts and I am to poor to buy my own stuff lol! Bottom line is Nike has grown into a pretty respectable golf manufacture, and If I had to guess I would say they are pretty respected on the tour. So lets just agree to disagree. But I will honestly say after playin other brands equipment the only things in my bag I would change would be I would get the Ping Rapture Hybrid instead of my Nike Slingshot. I really believe nothing else out there would really improve my game to justify switching. Improve your game and any club will do what you want it to. There is no single club light years ahead of any other club out there (Top Teir Brands) But back to purpose of the topic. I did see that Tiger was playing a VR wedge at the Open. After many searches on the web that all that has really come up. Unless anyone has any inside info I think that is about as much as your gonna get. Here is thread on here talking about the wedge. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13640
  7. Here is my grip as well. Go Heels!!
  8. Ok well after several attempts I think I got it about as good as its gonna get. I rate a sold 7.5/10. Tell me what you think.
  9. over at WTB section at golfwrx.com someone is selling 2 sleeves of these Callaway balls but there is mysteriously no bigger box they came in or another 2 other sleeves with these...Just 2 sleeves of Callaway Tour ix balls! and yours for the price of 20 bucks!!
  10. I will also add that Nike has added the apeal to the younger crowd which was not really being to addressed by the big boys (Callaway, Taylor Made, Titleist..etc) Nike in some kids eyes made it cool to play golf! And I can admit to me being one of them. As a young kid I can remember all my uncles coming home to Fayetteville, NC and they would be gone for 2 to 3 days just playing the No 2 over at Pinehurst. And I always thought what a old mans game. But Nike kind of threw golf in your face. Now I kno there will be others who say differently but that is my personal take on it. And from playing old Nike stixs to todays Nike stixs there is a HUGE improvment. Nike forced there way in with Tiger and shotty equipment, but they will stay in with there advancments today!
  11. Yeah I got mine yesterday as well...I totally forgot I even signed up for these. Needless to say a nice little treat to come home too!
  12. I am not questioning his ability or yours...I am simply questions his reasoning. With blank statements made about the quality of a product with no realy backing behind it just makes me wonder where these opinions are coming from!
  13. Personally I cant confirm nor deny your pros claim. I just bought a new 08 Newport model So I am obviously hoping he is wrong. But can you really take someones word based off of "Just Cause" and that is what it sounds like to me. I would imagine a converstation with him would go something like the fights I would get into with my little brother when I was 10 over who is the better Superhero...Batman or Superman!! By the way Superman def wins everytime!!
  14. Ok Well I just got my first Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5 putter 2 days ago. And the first thing I did was take my UNC Winn grip off my old NIKE putter and put it on my Scotty(I have had this grip for almost 2 years now). Well after I did this my first thought was "Man, sure would be cool if I could get my Scotty in Tarheel colors!" So I got to sc.com and see you have to get "x" amount of work done to get free paintfill and they do not offer just paintfill. So after searching the web I found some threads about doing this yourself. Has anyone here had experience with this? I am looking for some kind of instructions on what I should do and most I have seen have been pretty vague on specifics. Here are the threads I referenced: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....c=162383&st;=40 and here http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....owtopic=171563 Is there anyone out there with experience in this?! Any advice/help will be great! Wes
  15. I have a 5900 and I love it but what ever you do buy it used. Got my Sumo 5900 With a V2 shaft for 250 shipped....saved over 200 if you include tax and upgraded shaft!
  16. Hey just want to thank everyone for there input. I think its gotta be me coming down to steep. After my lesson I will let everyone know what the pro said. I am going to golf galaxy and they video record so I can access it at home if I can some how get posted on youtube or something I will come back for second opinions. But i think its gotta be I am coming down to steep cause I am hitting the ball awfully high
  17. Yeah thats exactly what i thought it might be...how I am attacking the ball...so who knows kinda sucks tho since im not using my driver off the tee box its nuthing but 2 iron hybrid and 4 iron on ever par far...and kinda kills your man hood when your friend pulls out PW and Im sitting there with a 8 iron lol
  18. Yeah i thought it was swing speed because these irons are a bit heavier but we are talking a loss of 30 yrds that would be a huge speed difference so i dont think it is that at all and I guess it is the angle but I am hitting the ball straight so I am really not sure. Guess I will just have to wait unitl I get lessons
  19. I need some help. I just started golfing last summer so I am not to experienced in the technical side of golf. But I had one question. How does someone go from hitting a 7 iron 160 to now struggling to get 140. From hitting a 52* degree wedge 90 yards to struggling to get 50 yards. Now here is some background info. Last year I was playing with a cheap set of TM R5 XL's (never heard of them? me neither apparantly they are only sold at dicks and at the time I had 250 bucks) they were R flex and standard everything. For xmas I got a set of Nike Slingshot OSS they are S Flex and 1 1/2 inches over standard length. Everything else is standard. Now I originally was told I needed that length but I feel I dont so I do choke down about 1/2 so no biggie cause I am 6'4. And my swing speed is 95+. Well anyways there was a gap of about 2 months were I did not swing a club and that was the same time I went from old irons to new irons. I thought it might be because of the length and going from regular flex to stiff. But after playing some more I dont believe that is the case because I have used the same 52* degree wedge since I began golfing. So what can It be. Obviously It is something in my swing but I can not figure it out. I had a lesson lined up at Golf Galaxy but I forgot that was Memorial Day so I had to cancel and rescheduled it in 2 weeks. But I plan on going back out between now and then obviously. So I decided since everyone here has been helpful Id see what the teachers here or experience guys might think it could be. Any help would be great and very much appreciated. SO PLEASE HELP!! Wes oh but during this switch I did go from shooting 105+ to mid 90's. But I contribute that to I hit my long irons much straigher. But I have also put away the driver until I get lessons.
  20. I have pretty muched already diagnosed my problem ( my drives result in a straight ball for about 200 yards then a hard right hand turn lol and my irons i seem to slice but only slightly but i have a tendency to hit well behind the ball) but i cant seem to fix these problems so hopefully after explaining this to him and him seeing my swing he can help me out
  21. well maybe we wont have the problem. I will be going on a Monday at 10:30 in the morning
  22. IMO I think jeans on a golf course just looks tacky. With every sport there is some kind of uniform no matter what it is...and golf is a sport and proper golf attire would be golf shoes, collar shirt, and slacks or nice shorts. But that is just me. When i see someone playin in jeans I never say anything but I do always think its a bit down dressed. A good rule of thumb has always been, its better to be over dressed then under dressed
  23. well do they have up some kind of simulator to see what your ball would do?
  24. I just booked a lesson at my local Golf Galaxy here in Rockville, MD. A friend told me about there setup and I have been playing for a little over a year now and I finally am takin the first steps towards improving my game. Is anyone familiar with there setup and is this a good place to get lessons from. I was told they have the cameras there and they show you your swing and make improvements from there. Anything I should be prepared for?
  25. I have never bought golf stuff from ebay but other things I have...One place I have had good luck on is the marketplace at golfwrx.com...I bought a Nike Sumo2 5900 with a V2 shaft for 250 shipped and I would say it was a easy 9/10 and another great deal was a Nike Slingshot tour hybrid and Nike Forged wedge both brand new, got them both for only 80 bucks shipped...there marketplace is really active with new stuff all the time and great deals...Seems like fellow golfers just tryin to help others with good deals...I did pay 40 bucks for a UNC Winn grip tho, way overpaid but couldnt find a UNC grip anywhere expect for the C-thru ones
