Any one tried this gadget, or anything like it? Does it work?
-
Has anyone tried this? No, I have no connection to this company. I was just curious. http://www.docsgolftips.com/IST-300_pic.html

New PB. 79 at Indian Valley in Burlington, NC. 12 bogeys, but a tap in birdie and an eagle from 155 helped a lot. best score since my return to golf after 12 years off......

Thanks for all the input.

Exactly!!! Who cares what it says on the sole??

Didn't mean to kick over an anthill. Yes, I did, infact, want opinions on whether the new tech may help me in some areas, and what recs, if any, you all had. I like my Berthas. But an extra 5 to 10 yards per club wouldn't hurt my feelings, either. And i am aware of juiced lofts, with lower cg's. i really don't care, though, if my new tech 7 iron has the shaft length and loft as my old 6 iron, as long as the trajectory and ball flight are similar to that of my 7 with the added distance. (with out a sacrifice in accuracy). And, with all due respect to Old Timer, I expect there are better irons out there FOR ME. And that is the advice and info I am after. A buddy of mine is trying to steer me towards Rocketbladez. I am not keen on the look, but i wasn't keen on the looks of their fairway woods, and I KILL them. I can adjust to that. Leaning more towards JPX 800 right now. The reviews are more than solid, and they fit the budget. Would love to play more of a 'player' iron, but my game is just not there, yet. The JPX 800 seems like a good compromise. Thoughts?

Choke down just to fill the so called gaps, is all. And I have been looking at the 800's on e bay. But I will need to be more consistent striking the ball before i go to something like a 64.
-
Alas, those those may not be in my budget. And my sticks don't have to be brand new. The x hots are sweet, though. Hoping to hit the 825's soon, and look for a deal.....

I have swung the x hot and Burner 2.0. I did notice a distance increase, (simulator) but attributed it to the lofts. Thing is, though, if i hit a "new' 6 iron (with similar length/loft as my old 5 iron), and get the same distance as my 5, but with a higher ball flight, is that a bad thing? I have read that the 'new' irons also create gaps in my bag. Not overly concerned, as choking down will handle most of that problem (I think), but I have read others have serious issues with this. Also, any recs on what to try?

I play 2004 Berthas, and have been pretty satisfied with them. BUT.... I am wondering if I am missing out on the new tech, particularly in terms of distance. I am wondering if I can make an improvement, with out busting my wallet. Game improvement irons will still be in my bag for the forseeable future. Any thoughts?

PLEASE HELP ME!! :) No pro has been able to correct my problem.
fishbig36 replied to jordy466's topic in Welcome, Everyone
Ok, the problem may be one of wording. To me, Jordy, you are not describing a slice. You seem to have developed a case of the shanks. You are hitting the ball where the face meets the hosel. I have been there before. i got so frustrated i quit playing for 12 years.. Just got back into it 6 months ago. There are many ways to work your self out of this. Start by hitting half wedges on the range. Don't worry about how far, etc. Just make contact. Concentrate on hitting down, swing easy. I am only guessing, but i expect part of the problem is tension. release the death grip on the club. Think smooth. Think contact. Others here may have better ideas..... But I think the low, rolling shot to your right is a shank, and not a slice. -
it depends on the hole. Yesterday, short was BAD. Tomorrow, long might be. I used play a club less and allow for a potential miss hit. Now, as I get to hitting a bit better, i will occasionally 'flush' one, and the result is often quite a bit long. My bad habit is a scoop, and i still do it sometimes. But, the difference between a scoop and a flush can easily be 25 yards. Truth be told, I get satisfaction out of those shots, though they are errant, because I at least hit the ball well.
-
I am kind of inconsistent. As I get to hitting the ball better, I have some difficulty clubbing. And while 25 yards is a bit of an exaggeration, I have been long by as many as 20 yards over expected distances the last 2 rounds. When you set up for 125 and hit it 145, it can be a problem... But, a problem I don't mind having. Generally, setting up for 145 and hitting it 125 is worse......

Shot a 95 on a new course today. One of the toughest I have played so far. Was very inconsistent, but still feel a little "local knowledge" would have saved me 5 or 6 shots. I also think i played from the wrong tees. Not TPS, but one ahead. Nice course, tough shots to make, lots of risk/reward. http://www.challengegolf.net/index.cfm I enjoyed the round, and want to go back to give it another shot.......

Thanks. I have noticed, also, that 2 of the same club from the same manufacturer marked 'R' will not necessarily have the same flex. The only way, I guess, is to keep hitting til I find the right one.

The lighter "stiff" shaft may be the answer. I ordered a reg on e bay. Will see how it works, but the shaft 'change' might be the way to go. It's really funny: as a kid, I played blades, because there was nothing else (til Ping). While they may have existed, there was NO shaft options. We played the crap we had, even though I could fit TWO of my old driver in the head of my current. When I first hit a 460 cc driver, I felt like I was cheating. I was still short :) . But felt I was cheating none the less. Burner bubble was new tech then. And, while rambling, I appreciate the results of the convo. I will try the reg, and change it as needed. I am 43, and don't expect any huge gains in club head speed.. LOL I was suspecting my new clubs to be marked "A".

The bad shots tend to be a result of me, and not the club. If I trust the simulator (and I have some reservations there), the regular shaft may have a higher ball flight. I do know the misses travel further with the RBZ than the Cleveland, but they tend to be a bit more off line. Probably answering my own question, but I suspect the best way to figure this out is a side by side with the 2 shafts on the sim or the range. And, I think also, with the stiff shaft, if I miss it a bit, it stays right. I feel like I am on the border of stiff/regular.

TaylorMade Prepping to produce Non-Conforming Clubs
fishbig36 replied to mvmac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The non conforming heads are out there, and not easy to spot. I have a friend who is an amateur clubmaker. He put a nonconforming TM japanese issue head on a 52" shaft for us to play around with. None of us have taken it to a golf course yet, but one of my buddies got booted from a local range for hitting too many balls out through the back fence. Clearly, the shaft is easy to spot..... But the high COR head is not marked in ANY way. Just an older model TM driver head. And I fear that these 'new' non conforming clubs will be hard to spot, also. -
x 230 Long Tom 3w 200 Cleveland Black 3 hybrid 180 Mashie 4 hy 170 Mashie 5 hy 160 Mashie 6 145 2006 (?) Berthas 7 135 8 125 9 115 10 95 52 80 Eidolon 56 60 El cheapo. Mostly just used in the sand. Working to increase these. I am very inconsistent currently, and you could add 25 yards to all but the last 2 on a good day.

Ok, so I am brand new here, but have read several threads, and this seems like a good place for advice. I hit regular shafts, throughout my bag. In a round the other day, I hit a buddy's rocketballz 3 woo, stiff shaft. And I killed it. I borrowed the same club, hit a bucket with it, and played a round with it today. Same results.... 25 to 30 yards more than my Cleveland black regular shaft 3 wood. I also hit the RBZ at a local sporting goods store, with a regular shaft, and killed it. I plan on buying the club... On some holes, it is almost as long as my driver. The problem is, I am not sure which shaft to get, the regular or the stiff. Been playing 8 months after 12 years off. Swing speed with the club averaged 92 (regular shaft). Driver speed is slightly higher. And, my speed has been on the increase (85 just a month or so ago). Which one do I pick? Loved the Cleveland Black til I hit the Rocketballz. But 25 yards is 25 yards.
