  2. This happened to me last week. The tee box is on a hill and the wind was blowing forward pretty hard, but my tee shot was right down the middle. Couldn't find it anywhere, if I was driving a cart I would've looked longer.

  4. Ok thanks guys. I got a lot of recommendations and eventually I do want to switch to new clubs. Right now I have maintenance on the burners I have to take care of before I sell/trade them, so for now I'm going to replace the shafts with kbs stiff, get fit for everything else, and see if that changes how much I like them. If not, I'll go from there.
  5. When I think of fitting I think of new clubs. Are you saying to get fit to know my lie, loft, etc. so I know what to look for in used clubs?
  6. Hey thanks for the replies, a lot of great info. I went to a small golf shop this morning to see what they had and get some input from them. I explained everything to the guy helping me and he had me hit the mizuno jpx 825 pros, and I will say they looked and felt great on the mat. He asked me to come back with my irons this week so he can see how I hit them, but told me I needed a stiff shaft. With that said they didn't have a huge selection of used, and I still want to try more clubs including the ones you all recommended. Trading in my irons he'd sell me the mizunos for $250, which isn't bad. Weather permitting I plan on taking lessons this thursday or friday and will ask for feedback on my irons.
  7. I gotcha. I would definitely like to have irons that give me good shots over powerful shots. So a little background, I stopped playing for a long time, and just started back up last season. Right now my iron play is the worst part of my game and its mainly because of thin shots, when I hit a good shot I will take a big divot. This year my main goal is to really develop my swing so I can lower my score, and I'll be devoting a lot of my time to it, but am overdo for a lesson or two. So far I've played once and been to the range 4-5 times in the last week and a half, which is more than I'd do last year. Thanks for the replies. I'll be going to more shops this weekend to look at clubs. Its just hard to tell if I really like them without going to the range. I think the mats give me false feedback.
  8. Hey guys, so I've been playing the taylormade burner 2.0 with a regular flex since last year, and I don't think they're the right clubs for me. I started looking at different irons because the reg flex always seemed too flimsy, and don't really like the offset. So today at golfsmith I hit a few irons with a stiff flex and ended up buying a demo adams idea pro a12 to try at the range(will try it on the course in a couple days). Some of the clubs I hit at golfsmith were ping s59, ping i20, adams cb2(demo), and 2012 taylormade tp mc. At address I liked the thinner irons, even if I didn't hit a good shot I felt better standing over the adams at the range than my burners. Only thing is all except the s59s were out of my price range. As you see with my handicap I have some things to work on and lessons to take. I'll see how I play with it in a couple days but generally would forged irons like the a12 and cb2 be more for the advanced player? Can anyone suggest more irons I can try that are forgiving, and on the thinner side? Thanks!
  9. Ok cool thanks for the replies. I'll get it taken care of.
  10. Is that something I should take to a shop and have done?
  11. The head and shaft are both intact but are separated from each other. So when they break the head goes flying in front of me. The club that broke yesterday didn't go flying, but is barely hanging onto the shaft.
  12. I didn't even think of that. I'll send them an email and see what they say, its definitely worth a try. Thanks
  13. Hey guys, so after not playing for the last few months I finally spent some time at the range. Last summer I bought a used set of taylormade burner 2.0 irons. Condition wise when I bought them they were a 7/10, and in less than a year Ive broken two club heads(one being yesterday). I'm debating if it worth getting it fixed, or just look for a different set. What do you guys think? Also, a few of the clubs are separated at the plastic part between the head and shaft. Thanks
  14. Barbell bicep curls, barbell rows, dumbbell squats, dumbbell bench, tri extensions, sit ups. Besides the sit ups 3 sets 8-12. No cardio usually ever :/
  15. After not playing the last 4 years and getting a late start I'm bummed this season is ending. I really want to take golf seriously and lower my handicap, I'm just happy this year I finally seem to have a consistent swing. Other than taking a lesson or two in a few weeks, I need to improve my putting and thinking about building a green in the basement. I will be getting a full fitting(had my irons cut 1/2"). And I will try to find an indoor facility to practice at every once in awhile to make sure my swing stays consistent.
  16. Quick update. Looked up some swaying fixes and it seemed to help a bit(still something else going on). But the Cobra speed ld offset is incredible, played 9 holes today and switched to the 3 wood instead of my driver. Every time it was straight(maybe a slight slice once) and distance was more than I expected even on a bad shot. Let me say I know a couple good players, and I am nowhere close haha... Played terrible today with a few nice shots here and there. On the 9th 298 to the hole I tee'd this wood up. Hit it to the right and play it safe or hit it straight but leave it short your ball is lost. I decided to go for it, thought my ball was lost but ended up 15 feet from the hole! I'm actually still confused about this shot, I really don't think I've even hit my driver that far. I'll be sticking with this wood.
  17. I've only taken it to the range once, hit it off the tee 3 times and was impressed how far and straight I was hitting it. Who knows how I'll do when I use it in the fairway or rough but I really like it, especially the offset. I am going to try and fix topping myself, but I can see a lesson or two in the near future. What do you mean when you say "swaying"?
  18. Thanks for the replies. I found a Cobra speed ld offset 3w r-flex, haven't hit it yet but really like it at address.
  19. Went to golfsmith today. So out of what I saw I tried a Cobra SZ? 3w, Cobra Speed LD 3w, and TM R9 4w. I was going to get the R9 but it had a fujikura rombax x-stiff shaft. Any opinions on these clubs?
  20. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try some 4 woods out. I did see the G15 comes in a 4 wood so that could be an option, but not sure if I'd find one in the range I'm looking for. I'm planning on going to golfsmith tomorrow to see what they have. Might even trade in a club toward a wood...I picked up a 58* sm4 for a ridiculous price, but don't think its the right club for me.
  21. I've been building my bag slowly and haven't added a 3 or 5 wood yet. So far I've played a couple 9 holes and shot 18 over par the time I kept score. I do top the ball(more often at the range than on the course). Slicing is another problem, but recently had my irons cut a 1/2", started to choke up on my hybrid and driver(Ping G10) which seems to have helped a lot. Can anyone recommend me some forgiving woods to add to my bag? Not looking for anything to break the bank and am fine with used clubs. Thanks
  22. Thanks for all the comments and the link. The 4th time I went I really felt I was being productive, and the next day I felt I was completely wasting my time. The next time I go to the range I will make sure to have a purpose and not just hitting balls. Since I'm playing a 9 hole this week I'll probably split a small bucket at the range with a friend, take it slow, and focus. WUTiger: Great info, it seems I was doing the opposite on most of what you wrote haha. Fatigue seemed to be a factor especially toward the middle/end of the bucket, started with my pw, instead of switching clubs every few balls I was trying to hit a few nice shots in a row before I switched. Will have to see how it goes this week at the course.
  23. I recently started going to the driving range after not playing for a few years and on and off for the past 9 years(not seriously, except for a year or so). Been to the range 5 times with the 4th time being yesterday and 5th this morning. Topping has been my problem but yesterday I felt great, and out of 90 balls I topped 5-10, some thin shots, some clean shots. Figured I go again today and I started out pretty well, but by the middle-end of the bucket I was topping a lot of shots. Not sure if I got impatient or lazy, but it was definitely frustrating. I plan on playing a 9 hole in a few days, should I just hit a few balls at the range right before? Thanks
  24. I'll keep going to the range to hopefully achieve some kind of consistent shot, and will get fit to my body measurements. Thanks
  25. I ended up getting the 2.0 iron set 4-SW, and have taken them to the range twice. I can tell my HTs had a stiff flex(which I never knew), just from slightly bending the 2.0 shafts. I've had lessons in the past but definitely still a beginner, from what I can tell these clubs are awesome and when hit well the balls go far. Topping and thin shots have been a problem in the past and was the first day I took these to the range. Trying to keep knees bent, my head and shoulders down, today I feel better about at least getting the ball in the air(we'll see about next time...). I'd want to have a consistant shot before I get them fit. In your opinions should I take lessons soon, just keep practicing at the range for awhile? I don't have a full set yet, and wasn't planning on taking these on the course for awhile. Thanks
