lol your way to clever, to be fair I did stumble upon the other post and im glad I did, cant find it anywhere else, just wanted to share to help, I think the elbow out helps both hands push together to neutralise the wrist action which was killing me -

yes the body is sent signals by the brain, so for me its mental issue, and agree the brain signals the body to save the putt at impact -
Putting Yips, Great Tip to Conquer

ive neutralised the right hand by sticking both elbows out, this allows the left hand to push back toward the right putting pressure on the palm of the right hand its the impossible to close the club with a yip of the right hand its the brain sending a signal to the body to save the putt -

o.k but would you say the majority are caused by the dominant right hand? -

but if you find a way to neutralise the right hand that would be the holy grail? -
great post I found this cure myself before I viewed your post, but I can explain why it works

Putting Yips, Great Tip to Conquer
wingback replied to wingback's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
the main problem as I see it is impact, the brain refuses to allow a smooth contact point with the ball and the right hand takes over and causes mayhem would you agree? -
Hi im a 4 handicap who has gradually been afflicted with the dreaded yips, however ive found a great solution that ive never seen advocated in any golf instruction just wondered if anyone is interested in this topic? putting yips that is

Do you choke up to get your 'tweener' distances?
wingback replied to No Mulligans's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
yes I defo choke up, I use my pitching wedge from 70 to 120 yards, full shot 120 then feel comes into play big time grip down and feel it in, in my eyes it needs a lot of experience to get decent at it, I don't like full lob wedges and sand wedges brings the leading edge and out of bounds into play. -
yes good post above so yes make the golfer aware of the error on the practice swing ie hitting behind the ball get them to feel hitting/brushing the ground in front of the ball hopefully the penny will drop, cant think of a more simple concept, as you say poor golfers lack awareness more than anything, on greens i see it time after time just plain not appreciating common sense stuff.

well its helped me im level for my last 36 holes iron play much improved
-
yes ideally you would take a divot but the green keeper would not be happy, so yes, brush the grass but crucially make sure you brush the grass in front of the ball, where it should do.then step straight into the shot trying to recreate the late hit this should help to reduce fat shots.hope this helps.
-
just something that may help, I think a practice swing concentrating on finding the bottom of the arc in front of the golf ball is vital, just thinking about divot in front ensures that the hit is at the correct moment ie at the ball and beyond, far to often the hit is too early resulting in fats and pulls, my routine is take a few practice swings to feel the correct bottom of arc position this trains the brain, then I move straight into the shot the body will repeat the action cant tell you how much this routine has cleaned up my iron shots reducing fats drastically.try it I know it will help.To help feel the late hit motion turn the club upside down and listen for the swoosh at and after the ball.

maybe do some gym work, but I do believe that length of the tee is generally god given, im sure you can get a bit longer but not much, just my opinion I will probably get shot down in flames but that's my opinion.
-
take it you've gone down the route of being properly fitted out ie clubs, balls, shaft launch monitor stuff? This will get you 30 yards.

I do have a swing on facebook how do you get it on here?
-
I don't have a video, its a bit furyk like but it works luckily, I shot 68 yesterday, my god he has worked hard at it but he just cannot time the move correctly like I say sometimes he does sometimes he don't but his misses are big both ways,
-
well lets concentrate on the crooked bit that is something we can fix. Please don't try to work too hard on being a bomber, get some teaching, look at a video of the swing, think about your missed shots, try to understand whats happening.

Me and my mate started golfing when we were 13yrs old currently 42, we have hit millions of balls, studied books, watched swings, and both had some lessons (not many), we both understand the swing, both good at sport, ive gone on to have many par and sub par rounds, my mate has a better swing hits it a tad farther but has only broke 80 twice in 100s of rounds, we know the problem, we understand the problem but cannot fix him, he just cannot get his sequencing correct at the start of the downswing, out of 10 drivers 5 will be smoked and I mean smoked, the other 5 off the golf course left and right, his right shoulder is the problem it tends to start the downswing on the bad shots, why cant we fix him, is it that he will never have the natural ability to perform the correct downswing, its killing him we need help to fix it.
-
I reckon ive hit more practice balls than 99 per cent of golfers im 42 now, I definately think hitting loads of balls does you little or no use, I play better without beating balls I think you just try to overhit the ball on the range, my tempo and rhythm on the course is far better, to improve you need a qualified pro watching you to tell you how to improve go away and think about what the pro has said, I mean understand the swing, understand what hes telling you, just doing what hes said is no good, the why has to be understood. If you just work on stuff yourself you could work on the wrong stuff for years, what a waste of time, I should know ive done it.Defo get a video done compare the swing to top pros then think about what steps need taking, it has to be a scientific approach.

Tip for: Getting through the Ball
wingback replied to lhagsjr's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
give yourself a head start start with the feet open, similar to Trevino, turn onto your left foot then hit hard with the right side allowing the weight to flow forward, allow the head to turn to face the target early similar to stenson, duval and sorenstam hope this helps. -
no way should you fight nature in my opinion, if you try to stretch the takeaway and swing wide I think that causes all sorts of problems, I hinge the wrists very early as did seve as does danny willett, tiger swings wide adam scott wide, top players do it there own way I don't think its a massive issue to focus on.Timing, tempo, rhythm far more important, weight shift important, your mate may bomb it but that's natural talent you cant teach that, youll never match him, but is he straight.
