  1. Hey Tony, Just up the road from you in Athens. Nice gear. Welcome to the forum.
  2. I tuned in during the 12th inning after seeing that the game was still going on espn's bottom line ticker thingie. I was kind of wondering what would happen if it went another inning, being that both teams were out of pitchers. Was Francona and Hurdle gonna have to go out there and toss BP? On a side note, deciding the home field advantage based on the winner of the all star game is just stupid. Well, its something more than stupid but I don't feel like using any colorful metaphors.
  3. I use a 1912 Liberty Head Nickel (also known as the V nickel because it has a V on the back of it) The one I use is not in as good shape as the one pictured below, but its still pretty good:
  4. Freddie, What are some good courses to play in Knoxville that are open to the public? I played Dead Horse Lake a couple months back.
  5. Stacey, I'll be passing right by you early Tuesday morning on my way up to New York for my vacation. I'll wave but it'll probably be dark out still when I pass ya.
  6. Played 18 today, shot 91 (49-42) Struggled mightily on the front 9, but really got it together on the back 9, started off 10 and 11 with back to back pars. My driving wasn't all that great, but I hit quite a few solid iron shots along with some short pitch shots from inside 50 yards that were pretty solid, I was able to get up and down for bogey on more than one occasion today.
  7. lol, that's a pretty funny line, I like that. We were playing today, and in certain areas, there were swarms of gnats just going crazy. Looked like they were bobbing and weaving up and down, not really going anywhere, just staying basically in that area they were in. At least they don't bite like them skeeters do. I grew up in Michigan, near Detroit and had to deal with those damned things all the time. They aren't so much of a problem here, however, we do get some scary looking bugs from time to time, I had this one on my car the other day that was about 3 inches long, yellow and green and ugly as hell.
  8. I just purchased an Odyssey Tri-Ball SRT about a month back. Its basically the 2 ball version that I've seen a few of the pros use on steroids, with an extra ball. I don't know if its the new putter or just my skill improving, but I have been putting better with it. In fact, I sank a 25 footer followed by a 15 footer back to back. I like the way the ball rolls off the putter, and it seems like I don't have to swing very hard to make the ball roll far, along with the fact that my rolls are more consistent. I'm sure quite a bit of it is that my skill of putting is improving, but the putter gives me more confidence in my putting, and that's what its supposed to do.
  9. As others have said, stay in the southern part of the States. Florida has some wonderful golf courses you can play any time of the year.
  10. Thanks magnus.on thursday I'm going to Green Lakes. I'm playing foxfire at 7am and then Radisson at 2pm on Friday. Gonna do rogues on saturday and erie on sunday before I start trekking back to tennessee. One more week of work and then its vacation time. I'm so jacked up to go right now.
  11. Yeah, I looked at the website and saw some of the Greens Fees, they're just a little bit out of my range that I'm looking to spend, they do sound nice though.
  12. Thanks for your information, I'm looking forward to playing the Central NY courses, should be a change from what I'm used to dealing with in East Tennessee. The course I play most often at, the fairways are as hard as concrete, gets you lots of roll of the driver, but makes it hard to hit solid consistent iron shots. I know Green Lakes is kind of short, but the bunkers and changes in elevation are appealing to me. Thanks for the info on the courses in Baldwinsville, Foxfire and Radisson both look nice, I believe I'll be adding both of those to my itinerary. I've never played a links style course before so Erie Links looks like a good one too. Is it feasible to get a round in at Foxfire and Radisson on the same day? If so, I could get Rogues Roost in too.
  13. I'm going to be in the Syracuse area near the end of July (23rd-27th) for a few days. I'm going to play a round at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, they have one of the first courses that RTJ Sr designed there. I was just wondering if anyone else had any input on any other quality courses to play in the area. Its hard finding information online about golf courses, at least player reviews. I'm looking for good value courses, I don't mind spending $50-60 a round, but I don't want to get up near the $100 mark. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  14. I remember one time where after hitting a drive, there was a creek you had to cross, and as I went over the bridge, I saw a driver or wood in the creed bent in the middle of the shaft at a 90° angle.
  15. Hi everybody, my name is Frank. I stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago when looking for some information about the new putter that I bought (Odyssey Tri Ball SRT) I played golf often as a teenager. After some moves and life changes, I didn't play the game for about 10 years, until I decided to pick up a starter set at Dick's Sporting Goods last year. I've been playing pretty regularly since then, at least once a week, sometimes twice. I am slowly replacing the starter set with better clubs, I bought a used set of Ping Zing Irons (3-PW, with a Ping Eye 2 SW thrown in there). I'm driving on I-81 up to the Syracuse, NY area in a couple weeks (in Syracuse July 24th-27th) to play golf. I plan on playing courses on the way up and the way back, the one course I'm looking forward to playing is at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, its one of the first courses that Robert Trent Jones Sr. ever designed. I played it once last year and it was such a nice track, I loved it. If anybody knows of any other courses I should look to play in the area, I'd love to know. If anybody would like a playing partner, I'd be more than willing to. I'm an okay player, I shoot in the upper 80s at the courses around here, tougher courses (Bear Trace at Harrison Bay for example) I'm up in the 90s. Anyhoo, I enjoy this site, and hope to become an active member of the community.
  16. I don't remember much of Jack's Career before 1980, but I do remember his 1986 Masters victory vividly, that was amazing to me. While Jack is one of my favorites of all time, I can't help but admit that Tiger will be better. What he just did at Torrey Pines was amazing to me, to say the least.
  17. I'm the manager of a pizza place.
  18. Take a deep breath and exhale before you begin your backswing, that will help calm your nerves and give you a better chance to make a smoother swing. I also noticed that once I stopped overswinging and just took a nice, smooth swing that my drives went a lot straighter (with a slight draw on them usually), whereas previously I'd slice about 20-30 yards to the right of my target.
