  1. 1. Break 100 over 18 holes 2. Break 45 over 9 holes 3. Par every hole at least once on my home course. (Just started playing but already got 5 down and 13 to go after only 4 rounds)
  2. It was getting close to dark, and I was playing by myself, but I could swear I was robbed of an Eagle (would have been my first) the other day. It was a short downhill par 4 and I was about 90 yards from the green. I hit my 50* wedge and the ball landed right at the pin and then somehow bounced sky high 10 yards past the green into the rough. It was 90 yards away but I'm convinced my ball somehow landed in the cup (with the flag in) and then bounced out. The worst part is I couldn't even get up and down and had to settle for bogey. :( Am I delirious or is this seriously possible?
  3. I'm a moderately heavy drinker and can pound them with the best of them (at least back in my college days) but more than 1 beer per 9 holes and my game is thrown off. With one beer I'm relaxed and usually play a little better. Last time I was on the cusp of breaking 100, the drink cart girl caught up to us when I was about to hit my 3rd shot on a Par 5. She only had Jameson, so I took a shot. What could have been a GIR was me struggling to get out of the bunker and blowing up for the rest of the round. Ended up shooting 105.
  4. I used to have a HORRIFIC slice on my 3H, 3W and Driver. I tried all the usual suggestions, looked at my swing in a mirror (didn't cough up the money for lessons which probably would have saved me some time and anguish) and the one thing that really made a difference was switching to a stronger grip for those clubs. Now I'm still experimenting with how much of a grip change for each club and still have issues but switching to a strong grip was definitely the biggest difference maker for me.
  5. This isn't about being rushed by *******s behind me (which BTW rarely happens. I play pretty quick for a high handicapper) but is still a "Crazy golf story" that happened last year. I'm hitting my hybrid from the fairway on a long par 4 on a course with a decent amount of geese. I was kind of used to it and not thinking about the flock in my vicinity, but I hit the shot a little thin and sent a line drive right into a poor goose's face. The guy is twitching on the ground and I feel terrible. One of my buddies is yelling "Hey you gotta put him out of his misery! Smash his head with your club. It's the only decent thing to do!" The other two don't seem too into it and I definitely don't have the heart to do it (nor scuff up one of my clubs) but all of a sudden the poor fella shakes his face and hops up seeming fine except for the blood all over his beak. Before I can take my third shot (mind you the goose's face severely took velocity of the ball) the whole flock circled around me. I'm not joking, there was probably literally like 50 of them. My buddies tried chasing them off with their carts but it WOULD NOT WORK. These birds were ready to ATTACK. I was scared shitless like I was in a Hitchcock film, but composed myself enough to hit a nice shot to get on the green in 3. I played pretty bad that day, but was proud of not folding under the pressure of being pecked to death.
  6. I'm a pretty short hitter for my size cause even though my right side is stronger, I swing/bat lefty. No clue why, it just feels more comfortable and I have better accuracy. Driver-225 3W-200 3H-185 4H-175 5i-160 6i-150 7i-140 8i-130 9i-120 PW-110 52*-85 56*-70 60*-55
  7. Getting my first ever birdie on a 125 yd Par 3. Hit 8 iron to about 1 foot and taking my Father in law golfing at a par 3 course for the first time EVER and watching him par the last hole. Next year it will be breaking 100!
  8. Hello All, I'm PJ from New York. I'm 29 and just started playing golf rather seriously this past summer. I owned clubs since I was in high school but only played maybe once or twice a year and never made any attempt to improve. I was terrible, but I enjoyed it. I played a lot of contact sports growing up (Wrestling, Rugby, Jiu Jitsu) and this past summer my body was ready to try a less punishing (physically not mentally!) sport. I started off shooting in the 120's with some generous scoring. Now I am on the cusp of breaking 100 and score accurately (still a mulligan for each 9) I have a mish mash of used clubs and my set up is Driver, 3W, 3H, 4H 5i-PW 52*, 56*, 60*. I'm probably going to get the Strata Plus Set for Xmas. I joined this forum because anytime I type a golf question into google I end up here so I figured why not join in the conversation.
