Sure, I can believe that. BUT, to say there wasn't the possibility of a financial benefit to Tiger based on the putter change is naive.
-
Ok. But the putter hasn't even been on the market for a full year yet. Hell, not even 6 months. It takes some time for people to "discover" new equipment, especially putters, IMO. As I said, maybe Nike put a little pressure on Tiger to use and thus boost their Method sales? Or Tiger did it on his own and wanted to help Nike out a little bit and game one? Or, hell, Tiger actually likes the Method better than his Scotty? Or a combination of those things.....................???????????????????
-
Glover and Cink both used one on their major wins last year, before the Method was even released to the public. Paul Casey has used one since last year. I'm sure there are more gaming one who I don't know about. I realize the three I mentioned are Nike guys, but the Method putter is the real deal.
-
I guess one could be surprised but at the same time, not so surprised. The Method is a great putter, so let's not think he's going w/ "lesser" of a putter. Secondly, Nike is, has been and will continue to be Tiger's biggest and most important pay check. Starting last November, Tiger needs Nike just as much as they need him. So, one could speculate that he switched just for Nike and to keep them happy and maybe boost Method sales. ???????????

Sh*t. Now I have to get a Method putter.

At the risk of sounding like a third grader, who started it? LBJ and the ESPN's of the world started this crap and made it into what it is. You're darn right many are going to, in turn, backlash against that and LBJ's decision and how it was made.
-
I thought I'd pass along this very humurous and very true assessment of the LBJ spectacle. Enjoy. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics...0/179533/83512

You're joking. Seriously? Why? Does he want some of LeBron's money via his mom? I really can't think of any other reason why an NBA player would seriously do that.
-
Yep. You and I both. And what's this about Delonte dating LeBron's mom? Delonte who? I guess I'm not up on my sports gossip/relationship news......

Bump............ Just out of curiousity, I bought a pack of these things to try out. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised and quite happy w/ my decision to get them. I used ONE ball for my round today and I couldn't have been happier w/ the performance of these things. I actually shot the best round of my year w/ it as well. Go figure. I wasn't blown away w/ the length of the ball, as in I don't think it's longer or that much shorter than any other ball I've played, but for the price, the durability and softness of it is unmatched, IMO. I never thought I'd think or say this, BUT. I would definitely recommend the Top Flite Gamer V2 ball. For the price of $19, you can't really go wrong and the performance matches or is BETTER than golf balls in a higher "class". I've tried a good share of balls, especially in the past two years, and I would have to put the Gamer V2 in my top 5 of ANY ball I've tried. I guess I kind of felt obligated to share this w/ you good people. (I'm usually not one to push equipment on people, and yes, even though my username is nike_golf )

haha. This I know, but saying a knight sounds better.........

And Paula just might have closed the door...............

Oh my my my. Where to begin. (sorry, I honestly forgot about this thread. And I started it, lol) I grew up watching Jordan. Basketball was MY sport growing up. I couldn't get enough of it. Now? I bet I haven't watched more than 2 minutes of an NBA game in over 5 years. (but don't think that discounts me and my opinions about the game) Instead of replying to single previous posts I'll just respond w/ this; What LBJ did was crap. Don't give me this, "oh, he just wants to win and it's a perfect situation." "Wouldn't you rather live in South Beach over Cleveland?" "Cleveland didn't or won't do enough to help LBJ" "He took less money" That's all garbage. First off, LBJ is 25. 25! If he was 33 and ringless, I would understand the situation. As Charles Barkley said, "If I was 25, I would want to be THE MAN and win a championship basically because of ME." LBJ won't have that in Miami. As I said, I'm just old enough to remember Jordan from the late eighties through his championship years. Jordan did it the RIGHT way. And don't give me this crap about Jordan having Grant and Pippen either. To me, Pippen is the most overrated basketball player in the history of the NBA. (No, I'm not joking) Pippen and Grant were nothing more than pawns to Jordan's Knight. He was THE MAN and he and his team won because of that. You think Jordan ever wanted to form a team of superstars just to win a ring? Jordan wanted to win, but he wasn't the kind of guy to pull something like that to do it. He wanted to win BECAUSE of him, not share the load w/ two other all stars. LBJ is basically taking the easy road. How anyone CANNOT see that is either blind or clueless. And hey, if LBJ likes South Beach so much, why can't he live down there during the offseason? Or after his playing career? The argument about playing where it's "nice" is basically kind of stupid, especially for indoor arena playing NBA players. (Jordan, and boatloads of other great champions played where it's cold in the winter. Didn't seem to bother them much.) LBJ's legacy will forever be changed because of this move. And hey, I really believe MOST people now view him in a bad light, and for good reason. You go LBJ. You go get that ring. You failed to bring a trophy to your hometown, so now, during the PRIME of your career, you don't want to risk it. You HAVE to get that ring no matter what it takes. I guess the pressure of having to be THE MAN is too much to bear. Good luck..........................................

Awesome info which I love to hear. I have to wonder though, how Oakmount can have "their" own strain but yet Pebble Beach, the course that charges "visitors" $500 a round and is a world class course, DOESN'T have a better strain or a similar strain of Poa than Oakmount does. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I don't doubt at all what you're saying, but it seems a bit odd to me. I do like it though that the ladies are challenged in a way at Oakmount that a lot of them have never been challenged before in regards to the greens and by the course in general.
-
I never said anything was wrong w/ the greens.
-
The whole "episode" tonight and LBJ's decision is another example of why today's NBA is a joke. That is all............
-
Two things. I half expected Wie to seriously wonder if greens this fast is even legal. Another; the greens at Oakmount are Poa Ana (sp?), which of course is the same grass of the greens at Pebble. Where is the uproar about Oakmounts greens that there was about Pebble's? Or haven't I looked hard enough?
-
Yeah. It was bad. She took a nine or an eight iron and basically hit it through the grass in front of her ball. She ended up hitting it about thirty yards back into the fairway. Not bad. She did end up bogeying the hole, however. Keep in mind her caddy is her boyfriend, who doesn't play golf or basically have any real knowledge of what's going on.
-
To me, this is how a major SHOULD be laid out. As in TOUGH. I will have to say though that 1 or 2 over par will probably be the winning score. I don't think there is anything wrong w/ that looking at the course rating for the ladies. These girls are good but the course might just be a bit better.

The DAY Nike signed Tiger in 2000, Nike went to work on equipment. One of the biggest and first things they did was to develop a ball for Tiger. Nike knew, as do most people, that golf ball sales are the biggest and most important for golf companies. Nike threw a ton of money to R & D a ball w/ Tiger's input on it. They basically made it specifically for him and in a way, they still do today. Contrary to what some may believe, Tiger has used a Nike ball since 2000. No, not a ProV marked w/ a Nike logo either. (Many still believe that one) ProV is and always has been an awesome ball. But to say Tiger would rather have played (or play) a ProV over a ball basically made for him is ridiculous.
-
No. And I can't/won't say anything about the ball. Sorry. The ball Tiger was playing at the AT&T; isn't available to the public. It's not "classified" as anything.
-
Actually, no, it doesn't say he used the One Tour D this last weekend. It said he TRIED the Tour D and averaged 324 yards w/ it, but I'm assuming that was on a range or on a launch monitor. Read the last part of the tweet. It says the Tour D has the same "construction" as the ball Tiger used last weekend. Reading between the lines there, the actual ball that he used was only SIMILAR to a Tour D and not an actual Tour D. Sure, Nike wants you thinking he used the Tour D because they want to sell golf balls. The actual ball Tiger used won't be released until this fall.
-
I didn't necessarily accuse you of anything. And again, you can believe what you want.
-
My source is one that I choose not to disclose. Look, it doesn't really matter to me what you believe or not. I'm passing along viable information that anyone can choose to believe or not. It's not really even that big of a secret that Tiger is using a prototype Nike ball right now. Nike has been developing a new ball for some time now. The release for the ball will be this fall.
