  1. Yeh -my wife says I am mental to (HA ) . Actually just read "Golf is not a Game of Perfect "and "Fearless Golf "..............But i am still mental .thanks for the thought -I do realize that I want a lot pretty quickly and need to chill !
  2. Yes -that is exactly what I am asking ..... "hitting Solid" -when I have used impact tape I would say 75% are on the sweet spot the balance a bit towards the toe.But I have this issue with all my clubs. My driver will run between 235 carry and 280 ish ??????? Two pros at the course I play have both said that it is simply a timing issue.....my 3 wood averages in the carry range of 200-240!...PW 125 to 145 ..but I do practice like a crazy fool ---I would bet that I hit 200/300 balls a day (recently retired and have the time )and never see any distance consistency improvment . One friend says I am practicing too much -??? So I guess my question is HOW do you practice timing ?? For the record I do realize that I am only 8 months into the game but this is frustrating enough to make me quit .I step up to every shot and my brain is saying --Oh Boy -will this be too long or too short ..........A reply asked If I was fitted -yes -I started out with Graphite shafts and had this problem and went to a certified fitter who thought that the new X 22 cavity back s with 6.0 rifles would give me that consistency once I got used to them .he felt that the reg flex shafts and the "hybrid" style irons was the problem .I do see now a straighter ball flight -higher ball flight and a bit more distance -But NO improvement in the distance control . Someone suggested that I should swing much ,much slower and take all my distances way down and that I would be better off ....it still varied all over ---just at less yardage .....so I am really unable to play well and hence the total frustration .thanks in advance!!
  3. Today had access to a launch monitor -using my 7 I ,(x22's 6.0 rifle ) this was the result -most swing speeds were in the 78 -81 MPH range : 179 181 165 167 171 143 132 129 176 155 152 138 161 145 149 161 148 173 165 143 149 129 171 168 162 143 ...... two observers see no change in my tempo or swing -some small differences shown in the launch angle category .So after 8 months of golf I have no real distance based on these results -making play tedious and difficult .I figure my 7 I for 165 on the course but as you can see I am long /short /on ??????.. how can I get more stable -I don't think that I am swing harder or faster to me -I am amazed because they all FEEL the same -the only difference i can feel is that on the longer shots my contact seems Softer ?? Thanks in advance for any ideas !

  5. Hey,does anyone wax their clubs?? -I mean shaft and heads -someone told me it is illegal in the PGA because it stops spin and the ball "grabs" better -more loft and distance ????
  6. I appreciate the reply -Glad you like the FTI driver -let me know on the wood .I am going today to be fitted and probaly to buy my set -scary but exciting too.
  7. Has anyone purchased or demo-ed ' FT driver - Squarewood woods or the I brid irons ??
  8. Just took my 1st driving lesson and then spent 4 long hours practicing .......with a 6 iron ----I have been taught to place the ball in the center of my stance ....a recent magazine article says it should be forward of center ----and a David Ledbetter DVD states center to right -----no wonder I can't figure it out .Can someone help me with this issue -thanks !
  9. Ok -Just started lessons and up until 3 weeks ago neither my wife or I have ever touched a club !Now---The bug has bitten -all the magazines /books/DVD and The Golf Channel .We watched the entire US Open last week and are addicted already . I got a Rife 2 bar and my wife chose a Odyssey Marksman putter .We are using demo Callaway Irons and we now need to buy our clubs /bags ,etc.... The info out there is almost overwhelming so let me just ask this ~~ leaving the cost out of the equation do I want Pings or Callaways or Taylor Made or Nike???? I focused on these 4 as all my research landed my decision there.I also know that being so new -I really can't pick by speed /control .....What my goal is ,is to buy a great set and learn and grow into it --but that in a year I will still be happy . Thanks in advance to all /any replies that follow!!!!
