So I'm a huge Cobra fan but have been interested in trying out the new TEE XCG7 driver and fairway for a while. I haven't hit them yet, but will very soon. Any thoughts or opinions from anyone who has hit them?

New Cobra Player's Irons
MotoGolfer250 replied to boogielicious's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've been a huge Cobra fan for quite some time now and I's very excited to give these a try -
I know it has already been addressed but if you hit the ball out that far first of all you are doing something very wrong, and second its going to have terrible results, but so is every other driver on the market if struck way the hell out there
-
I don't think people intend to purposely exaggerate their distances, but they do tend to say that their farthest distance with each club is their average. I mean yeah I have hit a 7 iron to about 180 once or twice but that doesn't mean it automatically becomes my new average for my 7 iron. I don't think most people realize that they are doing it but they do it nonetheless.

Hey I'm looking into some new irons and like most people I am on a budget. I'm a huge cobra fan. I currently play the Cobra FP irons which are just getting a little old and worn and its time for a new set. I'm looking hard at the bio cell plus irons. I am a single digit handicap who isn't the greatest ball striker so I would still like a little bit of help. Any feedback on the bio cell plus irons or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The problem I have with winn grips is that they are terrible in the rain. I have not found a single winn grip to hold up with a lot of moisture

I think there are some on here who have either exaggerated their numbers or put the longest number they have hit with the club, even if it was only once. We also have to consider the lofts of the clubs they are using. Some irons these days have such strong lofts that a 7 iron almost becomes a 6 iron. So there is a lot to how some people hit there irons so far ( well how they claim to hit them so far). The loft on my irons are a degree stronger than most, mainly because I hit the ball very high so I wanted them one degree stronger to combat my super high ball flight. My 7 iron is my 170 yard (about 155m) club. I can get it to go up to around 175 if I need to, but 170 is just a solid swing. I don't really see a point into claiming you hit the ball farther than you do, your just going to hurt yourself and your game and your scores by leaving a lot of approach shots short.

I have now played 36 holes with them and hit about 200 range balls with them, and I love them. They feel great, and give just the perfect amount of feedback without giving too much. I understand what you guys are talking about with the sweaty hands. If im playing, I just make sure to wipe off my hands before each shot and the grips work perfectly.

SLDR, Bio Cell, Covert 2.0, and G30
MotoGolfer250 replied to MotoGolfer250's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Im sure your right. I was just hitting them stock off the rack. I'm sure I would have gotten much better numbers if I had been fitted for a different shaft and loft combo. -
You have to hit them before you buy one. Its not a good idea to read a review or two online or watch some PGA ore talk about it and hit and then go and buy it. Either go to a demo day where you can hit them, or go to a golf shop with a simulator and launch monitor. Certain people have a hard time hitting certain drivers based on their swing. You might buy one and hate it and now have to live with a $200 club you wont touch.

SLDR, Bio Cell, Covert 2.0, and G30
MotoGolfer250 replied to MotoGolfer250's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've always been one to get a lot of spin from all of my clubs. I don't exactly know why. I thinks its a combination of angle of attack, and dynamic loft at impact. I hit these four stock off the rack. If I had gotten fitted for them, I probably would have had better numbers -

I did not and have not hit the Bio Cell +. Its definitely at the top of my list to hit though. I was thoroughly impressed with the Bio Cell so I'm looking forward to seeing what the Bio Cell + will and can do. My local shop didn't have one for me to hit so I might have to drive a little farther or wait a little longer to get my hands on one. -

I don't know how well the simulator I used was calibrated. I wasn't too concerned with the numbers compared to what they should be or what I normally get I was more concerned with how they compared to each other. So based on the numbers among those four drivers, I had to say the Bio Cell was my favorite. If I had been on a better launch monitor I think the numbers would have been more accurate. So, like I said, I wasn't worried about the spin or carry distance compared to what I normally get, but compared across the clubs I hit on that launch monitor, that time. -

The thing that struck me in that review was saying that the 440cc head makes it lower spinning. The SLDR is supposed to be the lowest spinning driver on the market and look at the minimal difference I had between it and the other drivers. Im not sure I would get any less spin with the plus than with the regular. Even with that being said, I will hit it as soon as I get the chance and make a better assumption. -
The Pings are going to better for you in the long run if you are serious about wanting to improve. If you are at least a decent striker of the ball then you shouldn't have any trouble with the Pings. I have always been a fan of the ping i-series. The I-10s are no exception

So I hit these four drivers today on a launch monitor today. These are the average numbers I got with each club. I had about 112 club head speed on all four Taylormade SLDR 10.5 Stiff Carry Distance - 261 Total Distance - 279 Spin Rate - 2760 Cobra Bio Cell 10.5 Stiff Carry Distance - 268 Total Distance - 285 Spin Rate - 2890 Nike Covert 2.0 10.5 Stiff Carry Distance - 262 Total Distance - 274 Spin Rate - 2970 Ping G30 10.5 Stiff Carry Distance - 264 Total Distance - 281 Spin Rate - 2850 The SLDR felt awkwardly heavy. I mean the weight felt like it was all in the head and it didn't feel right. The Bio Cell felt solid and awesome. Even on slightly off center hits, the distance only trailed off a couple yards and still felt good The Covert 2.0 felt good, I just couldn't get the driver to go as far or as consistent as the rest The G30 was good in the numbers, but I didn't like the sound or the feel that much. Also it looked weird with the turbulators on top. It looks like im going to go with the Cobra Bio Cell. It got the best all-around numbers and felt the best. Any questions, comment, concerns etc. let me know!

That sounds like a great birthday present! I'm going to order the Bio Cell myself in the next couple days! Cobra is a little underrated but definitely makes some fantastic equipment! I'm a huge fan myself haha

Forgiveness, 913D2 or Bio Cell?
MotoGolfer250 replied to tlejiva's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Bio Cell all the way, its easier to hit and more forgiving. Its also more about the strike than it is the handicap. You could be a very good ball striker and still have a high handicap; you could also have a low handicap but not be a very good striker of the ball. If you don't have a problem finding the center of the face with the driver then you could go for something with less forgiveness. I would say go test them out. Go to a golf shop or a demo day and try them both out. -
I hit them both today actually. They both felt good but the cobra goes farther and straighter, well for me at least. I like the covert 2.0, but for the price difference, the cobra is the one to go for in my opinion. Nothing against the Nike, but the Cobra is a better deal.

EZ Forged w/ XP 105 Steel vs. Apex w/ TT XP 95
MotoGolfer250 replied to Catelover's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think what it comes down to is what is more important to you. Is it more important to you to get the extra 9 yards or is it more important to get the feeling you want with each club? I think when you figure that out, you'll know whether to go with the Mizuno or the Callaway -
Having the adjustable loft gives you the option of finding the optimum loft for you and your swing. As you improve or go through swing changes you might need to change that loft. It makes it easier and cheaper when that time comes because it saves you from needing a new driver.
