  1. Having different brands means nothing unless your getting paid by one brand to use all of their equipment. If you find a Taylormade driver and a Cobra 3 wood works better for you than going only Taylormade, more power to you. Its all about what each club does for you, not what its called or who makes it. Even though my Driver and 3-wood are both Cobra, they are different models, and that's fine too. Find what works for you and stick to it.
  2. I agree completely. Don't worry about the length. Go and get the lie angle of your clubs fitted for your height and your swing.
  3. I just installed my set of red Pure DTX grips. I had the P2 Wraps before and liked them. I hit a club with a DTX on it and really liked them. I ordered a set of red ones and put them on today. I am playing 36 holes on Monday so I will definitely have some better thoughts on them after that. I will report back Monday. Anybody else have or have tried the DTXs? Any opinions you want to share?
  4. It depends on what you hit best. I have the same brand of driver and 3-wood, but different models. Just go test them out and find what is best for you. Its fine if you end up with a Taylormade and a Cobra, or a Nike and a Titleist, etc.
  5. I've hit the MP-69s. They feel great. The only problem is that I get a lot of spin on the ball as it is and the Mizuno's add even more to a point where I cant control the spin. If I could hit them with less spin or if I could control the spin, I would go for them. As far as the S3 forged goes, I cant find any new sets anywhere and I don't want to buy them used. I have hit them, and I hit them well. If I could find them new, I would get them.
  6. I played the P2 wrap in a near pouring rain a couple of months ago, and they were fine. I didn't have a problem with them slipping. They felt like they were going to slip but did not. I was pleasantly surprised. Hope this helps
  7. I am currently gaming a set of Cobra S2 irons (4-PW) with Nippon NS Pro stiff shafts. I am looking at getting some new irons. I would like to get more towards a players iron without going to a blade. When I bought the S2s I wasn't a great ball striker and now I am, so I could easily handle more of a players iron. I am considering Taylormade Tour Preferred MC, Cobra Bio Cell +, and Ping i25. Any thoughts??
  8. It makes sense that you are losing distance. That is one downside to forged clubs. Eventually they lose some of their pop. The closest irons to what you are currently playing would be the new Titleist 714 CB, the Cleveland 588 CB or the Taylormade Tour Preferred CB. Out of the three I personally would go with the Taylormade. I have hit all three and the Tour Preferred was my favorite. Hope this helps
  9. Pure Grips are by far the best thing out there. They are the best looking, best performing, most durable, easiest to install, and best in bad weather. They are 100% rubber, made in America and guaranteed to last for at least one year. I have been using the P2 Wraps and just ordered a set of DTX grips because I'm liking the feel of then more than my wraps. Once you decide if the P2 Wraps, the Pro, or the DTX is the one for you, they will be the best grip you ever had.
  10. The Pure Pro is comparable to the Tour Velvet and the DTX is sort of like the NDMC in the sense that it is a cord replacement. I played the Pure P2 Wraps for a while, and I just ordered a set of red DTX grips. If you prefer a smoother feel that still offers the same comfort and feedback of the tour velvet, go with the pros. If you prefer something a little tackier and a little rougher, more towards a cord, go with the DTX.
  11. The Pure Pro is the closest thing to the Tour Velvet in the Pure grip lineup. The Pure's are very durable and have a 12 month guarantee. As far as I know, Golf Pride offers no such guarantee. I've been using the Pure P2 Wraps for a while now and am soon switching to the Pure DTX. I wouldn't say the Pure Pro is any lighter than the TV but its definitely not heavier. Adding 2 wraps would just build up the grip a little, but would not affect durability or playability. Hope this helps @jmanbooyaa
  12. I personally haven't tried the air installation method with anything but a pure grip. I have no idea how well, if at all, it would work.
