  1. 1) Play from the proper tees - unless you're a single-digit index, don't play from the tips. 2) Be ready when it's your turn - use the time spent walking or while others are hitting to think about your shot and prepare as much as possible 3) Leave your clubs (or your cart) in the direction of where you need to be next; if possible, never walk backwards after hitting a shot Anything else y'all would suggest? And what impact do you think each of these will have - which are the most important?? I totally agree especially in regards to playing from the proper tees. I know a lot of guys that could ocassionally hit 260+ yard drives but typically score in the high 90's & low 100's playing the back tees. Not only does it slow the pace down, I think the game would be more enjoyable for them if they play the proper tees. I myself prefer the white tees but I do play from the tips once in a while depending on the golf course and who I'm playing with. For the most part I do believe that if you're not a single digit, stay away from the tips. One thing I'd like to add, rangefinders do help w/ pace of play.
  2. In normal conditions w/ fast greens I use my 54 degree sw. But often times, the safest play for me is a three quarter knockdown shot w/ my 50 degree wedge.

  4. It definitely makes me buckle down and focus more when there's money on the line & for the most part this is when I shoot my best scores. This is especially true when playing w/ golf acquaintances as opposed to playing w/ my personal friends. Wager w/ my personal friends will typically have the biggest loser @ maybe $5-$10/round but when betting w/ golf acquaintances the stakes are a lot higher. I feel a little more at ease at being somewhat aloof and anti social per se when there's a sizable amount of money on the line & as a result I focus more shot per shot. My typical rounds w/ my personal friends involves a lot of personal conversations, joking around, work talk and so it's a little harder to focus and shoot a good round.
  5. For me, swing SMOOTH was much better advice. Swing smooth and accelerate through the ball. Changed my game completely. Swinging smooth is something I attained from the best advise I ever got "keep the lower body quiet throughout the swing". For some reason it worked for me particularly with my iron strking. I have never been described as a smooth swinger UNTIL I started keeping my lower body quiet. Being 5'5 & 155 lbs, I'm a little above average w/ my iron distances (8 iron 147-155 yards) & I attribute this from being a smooth swinger and as a result better ball contact. Better ball contact @ moderate swing speeds for the most part will almost always result in straighter and longer shots. My 2 cents. 6. I go the range about once every 2 weeks & this is mainly due to the fact that my local course have a Par 3 course & it cost less than a large bucket of balls. I play the Par 3 about once a week & this is where I practice & work on technique w/ short to mid irons, chipping, pitching & putting. When I do go to the range, I mainly work on my knockdown shots (it's a tempo thing for me) along w/ full swings from 60-100 & 125-150 yards. Practicing knockdown shots helps me w/ my tempo & prevents me from overswinging which at times happens when I've had too much caffeine before my rounds ;). I also work with my driver for this is my least favorite club in my bag. I work on tempo tempo tempo & I'm trying to ingrain in my mind that having the same tempo w/ all my clubs will help me find more fairways with my driver.
  7. My best ball striking days happens when I remember to accelerate through the ball @ impact and well after impact. Combine with imagining the club face staying square for about a foot past impact is what I call my magic move. For some odd reason when I lose these 2 thoughts in the middle of a round, I tend to release too early and get handsy and as a result, pull hooks festivals begin to happen.
  8. 46* Hogan FTX / 50* Taylormade RAC / 54* Callaway X Tour / 60*Hogan My 50* wedge with 7 degree of bounce is the most versatile club in my bag. It takes care of the 95-110 yards off the fairway, bump & runs around the greens & delicate chips & pitches. This is the only wedge in my bag where I get consistent distance control (knockdowns & high soft landings) varying my distances on 3 quarter to full swings by 15 yards.
