  1. Oh gawd, Putters ... hmmm ... Ram Tom Watson blade .. (liked that one) various old bullseyes - collect them (have about 10) ping answer, answer 2 ping zing 2 ping pal 4 ping darby ray cook milled ram zebra titleist scotty cameron pro platinum II odyssey 2 balls straight shaft white (current) hehe
  2. I was the other way around. The bubble just felt way to weird for me, too much weight in the grip end of the club. I played the Big Bertha before the Great Big, felt comfortable with it .. and went about 15 yards further. That club was the bomb .. then comes taylor out with all their new stuff .. never thought anything could go longer than my callaway .. wrong ... get 20+ more yards off of my R580!
  3. Me too .. took me forever to go to a new one, still got it too. Amazing during the time of the callaway insurgence that those goofy Taylor gold burners with the bubble shafts were out, I never could hit those.
  4. and they just keep getting more expensive too eh? :) at least i got my r580 for $179 on closeout when I bought it. hehe.
  5. cool! Maybe I'll see ya there. Nice thing about this tournament is you pay for the tourneys you play so if ya miss a few you aren't out the money, only point standings. Also I've found out each flight only has about 10 people in it so far, so even though it's relatively competitive, still pretty small and rounds shouldn't take 6 hours!
  6. snuck out this morning before work shot 37. Wish I didn't, last hole after I hit my drive bent down to get my tee, couldn't bend over!!! ugh, tweaked my back .. :( Was hitting the ball real good, lots of good irons .. only pulled the driver out twice.
  7. Nevada Bobs?? the one in Ypsilanti? I used to work in golf shops in Ann Arbor, Caddy Shack to be precise. It was on main street on the west side. Also worked at the Golf Haus in Grand Rapids on 28th street a few summers in college. Went to GVSU.
  8. My Cleveland 588 Lob Wedge. I've got two of 'em, I bought a new one about 7 years ago because my first was well worn. My first is still in the bag. I customed it with a plug for an added inch, as well as lead tape on the back for weight. The whole center hitting area of this thing is a rusted ball .. not a single bit of white paint left in the grooves, or any stampings. And I still use it for most every shot around the green. :)
  9. Dunham Hills GC, Hartland, MI. #8 .. Par 3, ~200. High winds .. having 4 straight bogeys .. riding the bogey train, pull out my 5 iron, on the screws to 5 feet. made the putt. Birdied the next to save 38 for the front. lol.
  10. This got me thinkin' .. what are some of the main drivers y'all have used throughout your career? I started playing in 1990 .. after a few oversized graphite golfsmith thingy's: Taylor Made Tour Burner 7 degree - Aldila gold graphite stiff ('92 - '93) Founders Club ?? model ('93) Tommy Armour ?? model ('93) Big Bertha Warbird 9 degree ('93 - '95) Yonex 48" graphite - college coach wouldn't let me take it to tournaments, lol ('95) Titleist Howitzer Titanium 8 degrees ('95 - '97) Great Big Bertha Warbird 7 degrees ('98 - '04) Taylor Made R580 aldila nv-65s 7.5 ('04 - present) what about irons? My main set in my haydays were an early 1980's model Titleist Forged Blade (2 - PW) with X100 Dynamic Gold shafts - still have the irons. I bought these irons from a used store in 1992 for $80. Reshafted, regripped, fixed the lies, etc. Used them through college. I switched between a few sets over a summer before I use the ones I still use today: 2 - PW Tommy Armour 845s Ti's.
  11. Nice :) I've tried to like the R7's, but I just can't get the feel for them. I'm stickin with my original 580 .. I reshafted it with the nv 65s ... very nice feel. boy i tell ya, new technology tho is just unbelievable for distance. I think if I took my original Taylor Burner 7 degree graphite up against this 580 ... the 580 has 40+ yards on it!
  12. I've played the real simulators before. Way back in 98 and 99 I worked in a golf shop that had the Links LS simulator. It was pretty accurate then, I just recently played one that was VERY accurate. I'd like to try that PS2 / XBox one .. for the price, it should be quite good. The real world simulators are very expensive, $10K + easy.
  13. Hi all .. Me. I'm a 30 yr old former high school and college player .. then went to work in the corporate sector, got married, had kids .. didn't do much in the game last 4 or 5 years, only played maybe 10 rounds a year but still seem to play pretty well. Played with a fellow about a month ago who was part of the Amateur golf tour ( www.amateurgolftour.net ) .. Seems very interesting to me .. 10 rounds, every other Saturday, on real good courses .. flighted, points, doesn't cost much .. gonna try it out. - Don't worry, I'm not a promoter for this thing if that's what yer thinking, just actually have questions on it! Getting itchy to play competitive golf again, there never was a lot of amateur stuff in Michigan except for the normal big qualifiers, and maybe local county tourneys, etc. Anyway, wondering if any of you knew anything about this tour? Seems pretty reasonable to me :)
