  1. Im probably going to play Mystic Rock this summer at some point. The company I work for has a season pass up there so I am usually able play it at least once or twice a year. The course is way above my skill level but I usually just go out and do my best and try not to get frustrated.
  2. Thanks for the info Zeg. The lowest I think I will go is going to be "GOOD" I really dont want to deal with having to send them back if they are in bad shape. Thanks again.
  3. Congrats on the new sticks. Ive been shopping around for some new clubs and Im going to look into them a little more. I was wondering what condition they were listed as for $200. Also, was the condition what you were expecting or were they better or worse. The reason I ask is Im probably going to buy my clubs there as well and trying to figure out what I should expect as far as the condition of the clubs. Thanks
  4. Im glad they are getting good reviews because I really like the way they look. Lets just hope I can hit them and end up liking them. Im going to hit alot of different clubs to see which ones I like as of right now Im leaning towards the R7 and the FP. Im also looking into Mizunos game improvement clubs but Im wondering if golf galaxy would have any of the ones I was looking at (MX-25, MX-23). With that said Im probably going to buy them from Ebay or Callaway preowned. Can anyone give me any input about Callaway preowned condition ratings. Im basically just wondering what I can expect from a club listed in "GOOD" condition. Thanks
  5. I looked at them at Dicks before I bought my Nickents but I didnt have time to hit them since the Demo area was kind of backed up. I definately want to try the Cobras, R7, and the CG golds and probably whatever else catches my eye but Im probably going to buy online. Ive been watching Callaway Pre-owned alot lately and have been seeing a few good deals on there. The only thing I was wondering about is what I can expect from a set of clubs that are in "GOOD" condition. Im not expecting them to be perfect but I dont want to buy a set of beat up clubs.
  6. Does anyone play the Cobra FP or FP2? I recently sold my Nickents and I am back to looking for a set of Irons to replace them. I am just doing some research at the moment on a couple of sets that are in my price range (200-400) new or used and they seem to be getting good reviews for a GI set. I still have to go and hit some different clubs but Im trying to narrow down my choices a little bit by seeing what ohers have to say about them. TIA
  7. Well I was able to play when I was on vacation and from the way I was hitting my irons I think I am going to sell the Nickents. I am going back to my old clubs for now until I have time to go and hit some other clubs to see what I like before I buy another set. At this point in the golf season for me I might just wait until next year to buy a new set. The only thing Im wondering is what do you think is a fair price for my clubs. There is not a value for them at the PGA Value guide and after looking on ebay there is only new sets of the clubs I have listed. The clubs are near new with only about 5 or 6 rounds in them with some range time.
  8. I know the shafts will affect me. The problem I am having is that Reg flex graphite shafts felt a little whippy to me which is why I went with the Stiff flex shafts. However, I used to play with reg flex steel irons and they felt good to me and I hit them fairly well with good distance and a nice trajectory. Basically what I was asking is do you think that the stiff graphite shafts are causing the fade and loss of distance? I did not get fitted which I regret but going by the chart on golfsmith I am probably borderline reg/stiff flex. If it is infact the shafts I am going to sell them and play my old glubs until I have time to get fitted and get new clubs.
  9. Thats one of the reasons I updated this thread because If it is indeed the shafts I might end up selling the nickents and finding something in reg steel shafts which I am used to playing and after going out and hitting a couple of balls wih my old clubs i am leaning in that direction. I am at a point where I dont really want to go through the trouble of selling and buying new clubs again but I dont want this summer to be a wasted golfing with these clubs. With that said I am going on vacation next week where Ill be golfing some and Ill probably have my mind made up after that.
  10. Well I figured I would go ahead and update this thread. I ended up talking to a friend who had a friend that had a set off Nickent 3DX in reg graphite shafts and he said he would let hit a couple off balls with them to see if I liked them. Overall I liked the clubs but the shafts felt a little whippy for me. With that said I ended up going with the 3DX 3H,4H,5-PW in Stiff graphite shaft. At first I was hitting the ball well but I had a slight fade in just about every ball I hit. The overall ball flight I liked but I could not get used to the fade. So now here I am where I played about 6 rounds with them with some range time here and there and I still hitting the fade. The problem I am having is that my old set of irons I hit the ball pretty straight overall with a push and pull here and there. After doing a little bit of searching online I found that a fade with your irons sometimes mean the shaft is to stiff. Do you guys think that might be my problem? I have noticed a loss of distance as well but I can deal with that but the fade I can not. Anyone have any input?
  11. I have been thinking about it. I thought it is a free 30 Minute Lesson Though.
  12. If you are looking at the nickents I just bought a set of 3DX Reds in stiff graphite for 130 off of www.rockbottomgolf.com . The set is 3 and 4 Ironwood. and 5-PW. I bought them about a month ago but Im sure they still have them. The only thing with the set I bought is that they only had them at that price in the stiff graphite but it was what I needed so I guess I lucked out.
  13. I actually saw this earlier on another site I visit. I think it said that the cost to play 18 with the bonus 19th hole was $220 american dollars which isnt bad at all if you ask me.
  14. Thanks Jared. Im going to try and make it there this weekend if I have time and maybe try and hit them. Even though they arent the same set that I was looking at it should give me a general idea of the club quality. While Im there Ill probably hit a couple of others as well. Thanks a lot.
  15. Yeah Jared its the one in Robinson Town Center. If you dont mind checking it out for me that would be great. I am located near California Pa close to the University so its roughly around an hour drive for me to get there. Thank you.
  16. Dicks doesnt carry them for some reason. I think the closest "Golf" store to me is Golf Galaxy which is about an hour drive. But I guess that hour drive can save me the headache of returning them or having to sell them if I dont like them. It would also give me the chance to hit some other brands as well since I wasnt able to at dicks. That place was crowded when I was there for some reason and had people waiting in line to test out clubs.
  17. If I do decide to go with the Nickent's I was looking at the 3DX Reds and the 3DX-RC's. Im pretty sure they both come with the 3 and 4 Hybrids and 5-pw. Rock bottom golf has a deal on the 3DX reds right now but Im not sure I want to buy without hitting them because other than Dicks there isnt many golf stores in my area.
  18. Sorry I forgot to mention that I am only looking to spend up to around $400 at the moment which is the main reasons I have been looking at those brands. I also forgot to mention that I was looking at the Nike CCI's as well so if anyone has any input on those as well that would be great. Basically Im trying to improve my game this year and will be taking a couple of lessons in the next month or so and would like to have a decent set of game improvement irons before I take the lessons.
  19. Well currently I am playing my starter set I bought at target a couple of years ago and I am wanting to upgrade. I went to dicks the other day and was looking around and I liked the Cobra Fp's and The Cleveland Golds. However a couple of people have been telling me to check out the Nickent Irons and with them costing significantly less they seemed to catch my eye. On the other hand Ive read some reviews and some people love them and some hate them so Im not really sure what to think. So basically what I am asking is does anyone play them? If so, which set do you have and what to you like and dislike about them? Also, I havent hit any of the mentioned clubs yet but will do so before buying.
  20. Mine has got to be Mystic Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands. www.nemacolin.com/MYSTICROCK . I usually only end up playing there once or twice a year with my company's season pass. I normally dont score that well since its a little above my skill level but I always look forward to playing it.
  21. The only gifts that I have heard about for hole in one's are in company outings and such. I saw that you said you had a $121 bar tab afterwards. I never could figure out why the person who got the hole in one is supposed to buy the drinks. I would think it should be the other way around.
  22. Occasionally if a group of friends and I play and there happens to be five of us we will play a fivesome if it is allowed and if we ever see anyone waiting on us we will glady wave them by. Tonight I decided to play a quick nine at the local course and after four holes of having no one ahead of me I caught up to to a fivesome of older women playing very slow. I was in no hurry so when I saw that I was catching up to them I kind of slowed down my pace of play figuring that I wouldnt catch up to them. Well I ended up catching up to them and they never waved me through. I ended up waiting patiently while they spent about 5-10 minutes on the green. So basically I am usually in favor of fivesomes but in some cases I dont think it should be allowed. I really wasnt upset by having to wait since I wasnt in a hurry but the only thing that kind of pissed me off was that I could hear them talking and laughing and carrying on and Im pretty sure that they didnt care that they were playing slow and holding me up.

    First Tee Jitters

I always get nervous on the first tee especially if I am playing in a scrample where everyone tees off of #1 and Im in one of the first groups. However, I normally end up hitting a nice drive when I feel pressured for some reason. Then my game goes downhill from there. I dont know, I cant explain it.
  24. I have thought about telling him at work and its definately an option I am going to consider. I am hoping he took the hint yesterday but thats probably not the case. A couple of the other guys saw that I was getting irritated by it so I would think he did too but he never led on like he knew it though. I guess Ill just have to see what happens when I see him at work if he says anything about it. If he does Ill just tell him that I appreciate your advice but I have been working on some things at the range and they are helping me improve so I would rather keep things how they are. I guess Ill what happens Tuesday.
  25. Im probably going to wait till next week and see what happens. I usually try and golf every week but he usually only golfs with us on friday once or twice a month. He has always done this since Ive golfed with him but since he has golfed the last two weeks and playing in my group and in the same cart It has really gotten on my nerves. If he ends up playing next week and ends up in the cart with me I think Im definately going to say something to him the first time he does it. If I wasnt playing as well as I was yesterday I probably would have snapped but even with him doing what he was doing I still played pretty well. Thanks for the advice everyone. I figured I wasnt the only one who has had this problem so I wanted to get some input from you guys. Thank you.
