  2. The Opti comes with High Density foam balls, so it would of been OK, but the wife says we have a fairway out back that is empty every night after 6pm, my argument was that this time of year it's dark by 6pm, but I wasn't going to win!
  3. It looks like I won't be getting it this year, my wife has decided against turning the kid's den into a games room Grrrrr
  4. The Clubfitter that did my fitting back in the summer had a portable system that ran off a small generator, I think it was called a Viper or something like that, that system gave you club speed, ball speed, clubface open/closed, launch angle the works, and it seemed pretty acurate as regards to carry distance etc with each club. I was after a system that showed the ball flight etc on the PC, I thought it might be more fun for my daughter to practice on than just seeing numbers, if you know what I mean?
  5. Thank very much, not as much as I thought it would be. I was told that the store sim's were around $1500-$2000 by a guy in a Golf USA store.
  6. I'm not so sure, considering you have to use your own PC/Laptop, I would think it ran around $1200-$1500 for the software, the mat, the sensors and the net to hit into. I have been told thet you can get one of those simulators you see in the golf stores for around $1500-$2000. It would be nice if the company would reply to their enquiries from their website.
  7. I have searched over many sites and came up blank! Can someone please tell me how much one of these indoor golf simulators cost? I have been to their website http://www.optigolf.com and I have even emailed them asking for a price and I have had no reply. I would like to get one (price & wife permitting) for my daughter for christmas. Many Thanks.
  8. I had a clubfittimg a few months back, it was a mobile clubfitter that came to our club, I paid $200 for a full fitting (excluding putter), he had the launch monitor etc and it turned out that my woods were all prety much spot for me, but my irons (Cobra's) were way off. He got me hitting some balls with some of his clubs we found a shaft that felt like nothing I had ever felt before, and I just couldn't miss with it, I told him I had a set of r7's in the garage that I just couldn't hit, he told me to go get them (I live on the course), we decided, rather than pull my Cobra's apart, we would put the r7 heads onto his shafts. He garunteeed that all the clubs would be "swing weighted" and all the shafts would be "spined". I must say that since I had the fitting my ballstriking has improved tenfold, which in turn boosted my confidence. My first rounds with the new clubs was unbelievable, I shot back to back 79's in the first week then 80 and 81 the following week, my hndcp dropped from 16 to 12 in the space of eight weeks. I haven't played a great deal this summer apart from my trip to AZ, and I managed to keep to my 12 hndcp, my plan was/is to get some practice in on my short game and get down to a single digit by Jan 1st.
  9. +1 I could of almost wrote that post myself, except I wore my lenses for about 15 years.
  10. I would also like to add that the Golf Logix APP for the iPhone is very very good and for $30 you can't go wrong, asuming you have an iPhone that is lol
  11. I used to have a SkyCaddie SG2 and it worked very well but I noticed that on quite a few courses the front nine was mapped very well with all hazards and even yardages to mounds etc, it seemed that as the caddie was walking the course he started to get less and less info on the back nine. Not only that, the cost of the yearly subscription for international downloads was $59 per year, I sold my unit to a buddy of mine and bought a Golf Logix unit, the info is fairly basic, distances to doglegs, end of fairways, hazards, front, middle and back etc, so thats all I need and the anual cost was half that of SkyCaddie at $29 per year.
  12. A guy goes on a business trip to Africa, takes his golf clubs with him hoping to get a round or two in, he goes to to the local course, pays his green fee and the pro asks "what your handicap?" he was actually an 18 but thought he would make himself sound a bit better so he said he was a 16. The pro calls out a young caddy and the pro says "get your rifle and take this gentleman out, he is a 16 handicap" On the first tee the caddy says "this is a par four with trouble all down the left side so don't go left" He tees it up takes driver and hit a pull hook into the bushes, they find the ball and has no choice but to chip out, just at the top of his backswing he hears a loud BANG he looks at the caddy who is just lowering his rifle and said "there was a snake behind you in the tree". The second tee the caddy says "this is a par four with water all the way down the right side, so you should stay left”. He tees it up and slices it right, the ball ends up just hanging on the bank of the lake, he was standing on the bank just about to take his second shot and a crocodile jumps out of the water and takes his foot clean off, he’s jumping around screaming in pain and shouts at the caddy “why didn’t you shoot?” the caddy said “this is stroke index 17, you don’t get a shot on this hole!
  13. +1 My new S-9 Cobra 3w goes around 220 and straight 90% of the time my Cobra driver goes 230ish and straight about 60% of the time, when I'm swinging well the driver goes 250-260. Most days I can out drive my buddies with my 3w
  14. I once drove a 530 yard drive! I was playing in a torny at Legends Trail Golf Club in Scottsdale AZ, I think it was the 16th, par 5. I was given a biy of local knowledge by a guy in the pro shop, he said the cart path ran down the left side of the fairway and was all down hill, if you hit it down the left side and fortunate enough to catch the cart path, the cart path has gutters on both sides and the ball will run down the path to the green like a chute. I caught my drive perfect and sure enough it did what he said, I ended up pin high on the path next to the green, I got a free drop off the path, chipped it on the green and yep you guessed it, three putted
  15. I just got the Stack & Tilt DVD set for Xmas, I watched all four DVDs then went out the back (I live on the tenth fairway ) I had been suffering with hitting behind the ball and getting no distance even on good contact hits, after about 5-10 minutes I was no longer hitting the ball fat and distance was definately improving. I have a long way to go yet but I can see that with a little commitment to trusting the swing it will workout. I will say one thing though, I definately cannot do the S&T; with my driver, I have tried and tried but I just can't get used to hitting down with the driver, my 3w, 5w & 7w are hit and miss with S&T; but the irons are on to a winner, I will keep you posted on my progress.
