Just got off the course bout 45 min. ago. Perfect timing. Ran out of light, was starting to snow and finished 2 over. Stupidly, was one of my better ball striking days of the year. Short game was the bomb too, with frozen greens! Couldn't help but laugh through a lot of the round. Great late day golf!! Can get wintered in now (and sounds like we might) and feel good about it.

Quite the change yesterday to today. Figured I lost about 12 yards with my irons in one day. Still nice to be playing though!

GPS app. for Verizon Wireless Smartphone
hos327 replied to PiustheDrGolf's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I noticed as of this last summer, the GPS was unlocked on my device for apps like that. More recently I noticed it was even unlocked for Google maps. Previously only used cell tower for location. I would assume on your Curve you'd be good to go. You can demo it for 24 hours if memory serves. BTW, I pay nothing for GPS on my device. -

Ditto on GolfLogix. Have it on my Storm 2 and love it. Can't beat it for 40 bucks a year. -
What do you do in the offseason instead of golf
hos327 replied to Titleist Man's topic in The Grill Room
I drink - and I dare say, I think I'm pretty damn good at it. See, I didn't even misspell a word in this whole post; and I think it actually makes sense. Look Ma, No Hands!!!!!!!! -
If $ is a concern, Wilson Px3. Awesome overall ball. (I actually prefer this over a Pro-V for a couple reasons) Gets overlooked a lot. Last time I checked 15 to 29 bucks. I think Walmart is actually carrying this ball for something like 18. Def. agree with other posts about sticking to one ball though.

Not trying to thread-jack, but good to hear that. Don't see much posted about the Pd-5. Thing is solid as hell. Reminds me a little of the old 975 as far as feel. One of the longer drivers I've hitten and I'm cut down to 44". Tried a YS-7+ in it and ended up back with the stock graffaloy xs. Glad you're liking yours too. Was going to pick another up over the winter, but prices came up about 50.00 since I bought mine (60.00 new) Again, sorry for the thread-jack but was excited about seeing some more love for the Wilson.

Jury's still out on this one for me. Tour 9.5, went with an xs fit-on and did not care for the club. Sprayed left and right and did not like the feel at all. Cut in down to 44 and helped some. Reshafted with a stiff NV85. Definately tightened up the dispersion (nice baby fade) but could still lose the shaft. Currently have a Prolaunch Red stiff, and pretty decent now. Much better feel. Sound and feel are 'tinny' compared to my Wilson, but not bad. Lost about 5 yds compared to the Wilson (very underated-hot driver). Ballflight was pretty good, no complaints there. Club sets up really nice. I'm not 100% sold on this setup yet, but still giving it a chance. Seems to like a low tee. Fwiw, everyone that's hit it had really good things to say. I'm pretty picky and right now it's more about conquering the shaft/club combo. Will probably go back to the Wilson though. I've always struggled with 460 heads, seems to slow down my swing and release; so it's prob. me more than the club.

Did not see that earlier. Congrats today!! Looked pretty damn good. Always like to see the Giants go down (esp. after last year.)

If you go to the 'fantasy' tab towards the right side of the page and select golf (not your team or bushwood) it will give you your fantasy information. You'll have to play with the options for a bit. They give you about 30 different menus to choose from once into the fantasy home area.

Wow! Getting kicked while down sucks! Please don't tell me your a Viqueens fan. This week usually seems kinda screwed up. Big jumps like that don't happen later on.
-
Good god! Talk about choking ass tour players. Dropped 23 spots - I should win something for that.

Lineups won't be an issue after this week. It has everything to do with the limited field. I never ran a guy out of 10 starts last year.

Thoughts of Srixon Golf Balls?
hos327 replied to clubmaker15's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
ZUR-S, Best ball I've tried and played to date - hands down. Pro-V comes close, but durability sucks and I don't like balls that don't stay white more than 2 holes. -

I stand corrected - thanx. -

I've been quiet on this too, but... Do I think it's the norm - no. Are there guys out there that do - yes. I'm a 9 and hit the ball farther than most everyone I play with. The only guys(1-2) that can outdrive (when in the fairway) me are 15+ handicaps. Singles put a controlled swing on it to keep it in play. The 15+'s go for broke on every drive. If it's in the fairway, they put a real good swing on the ball, and these are the ones that count towards your average anyway. I personally avg 270-280 on my home course (no roll). If I go to a 'premium' course (tightly mowed fairways and conditioned like a tour stop) which I do 5-6 times a year, it blows my mind how much my ball runs out. The last two I played this year I avg'd 310 with a few rolling out past 330. These were proven with GPS. The guys I was with were blown away and I play with them at home quite a bit. I don't know why people dispute that this can happen, but to each their own I guess. Keep in mind - drive figures count when in the fairway, a 20+ did everything right when going after one hard and it finds the short grass. I will agree- some of them are dilusional though (esp. in the bar after a scramble) -
Did you sign in? My bookmark from last year takes me to someone elses page. I ended up finding my score on a different page. They completely changed the format, sucks big time. You have to select each person individually to see how they're doing. The format looks nice, but navigation and practicality sucks.

Should have come out with 54, but my screen went blank except for my pics. Hope its something new this year and not a problem on my end.

Supposed to be getting some in the next week or two to try out, but I live in friggin' Illinois. So probably won't be able to tell you much except what they feel like off a putter or wedge. Unless my wife pops out our baby and I can get to an indoor simulator in the next couple weeks!
-
Know what you mean, wife is pregnant and on bed rest this winter so no trips up north sledding (usually 4-5 times a winter and raced sno-x and cross country for 3 years). Now all I can think about is retiring (I'm 33) and moving to a warm, gated golf cart community on a golf course with a nice bar!!! I'm starting to hate Illinois weather! Only downside is I'd have to work year round instead of 9 -10 months.
-
Just in as Hos. Good luck everyone. Had fun last year with this format.
-
If I start hitting it a little fat, I just focus on the front (as opposed to the rear or center) of the ball. Usually clears it up after a few hits. May not be the preferred method, but read that somewhere and tried it. So far so good.

Not to beat a dead horse as it's been brought up before, don't confuse clones with componet equipment (Wishon, Snake Eyes, KZG, etc.) Componets are usually manufactured with better tolerances than oem. If you're talking about actual clones (e.g. XX2, Colloway, Tyler Made (you get the idea)), they can be awful. Materials, specs, etc. Not trying to insult those of you that have had good luck with them, but as a whole market they leave a lot on the table as far as quality. Theoritically, I wouldn't have a problem with a beginner picking up one of these sets but when you can buy a used set 'normal clubs' at the same cost I couldn't justify it.

I'm so thankful this is over - bring on Rodgers!! I've been wanting Brett to retire the last few years so we can start building around younger talent that doesn't 'retire' each spring. FWIW, this will weed out the bandwagon fans that were not really Packer's fans as much as Favre fans. There's a lot of them in Central IL!
