I don't know if this was already said, as I did not want to read 30 pages, but why not play with the guy? If there are two "Onesomes", it disrupts the pace of play for the entire course. If you made it a twosome, it would be more enjoyable for the both of you.

After a 2 year renovation, my home course opened yesterday! I was so excited that I went out and shot my best round of the year 83! Played from 6500 with a 71.9/135. Today I thought I could match that from 7000 yards, but ended up shooting 93 from 74.5/144. I've had better days

My best shot- par 3 hole 15, 175 yards down hill, front pin. I hit a light 6 iron and it bounced in front of the green, kicked left and started rolling toward the hole. It disappeared for a second and then I saw it roll to the other side of the hole. When I got down there it was about 8 inches behind the hole. Most satisfying yet unsatisfying birdie ever

98- again. Wow I'm terrible!! But I finally killed my slice. Hit 7 fairways out of I think 14. And my misses weren't that bad. Somehow decided to chunk my irons, but I can feel my game coming together. Had some great up and downs from behind te bunkers

Should a test be required before playing public course?
charliek98 replied to Rafcin's topic in Golf Talk
My opinion- if the players are so new and inexperienced in the game, they probablly aren't going to be playing at the highest of quality courses. They pay their money to play a simple round of fun golf, not to be pestered by tests and such -
I have all the plans to stick with golf (I quit playing AAA Baseball to pursue golf) as for a personal flare and to add on the cotton golf shirt talk, I own about 10 polo shirts that are strictly made for golf( puma, slazenger, pebble beach brand) and at my golf club, 95% of the people id say wear non cotton golf shirts

I'm 15, in highschool, and I consider it cool. I'm on the jv golf team and a lot of kids think it's pretty cool. When i golf with my buddies that don't golf as much as me( I mean don't have handicaps and only play with friends every now and then) they think it's pretty cool all the shots I can hit and everything that comes with being a decent golfer

I feel like your overthinking this. I belong to a top club in my state and when I bring guests, as long as they are polite and not screwing up the course, there's no problem. Now it may be different since I am 15 and know the head pro very well, but I don think its a big deal

Thanks again for the replies. Just kinda a side note, I didn't just quit baseball and teach my self golf, I've been golfing for four years and decided that trying to accel at both sports was too much, and golf is something I wanted to pursue more. I've taken lessons in the past and my dad gives me pointers that help. The issue with my slice from what I've been told and seen on video is a combination if two things. Poor swing path ( coming back too far inside and coming down outside) and grip(too strong). After a few lessons I hope to have a solid rutine which I can practice developing a straighter ball flight with my driver and woods! Thanks brown coast for that baseball analogy, it actually helped me realize the relevance! And I get how trivial it is, but it's just frustrating bucause I'm trying so hard to fix it!

Thank you all for the replies! Not gonna lie I've considered hitting a 4 iorn off the tee. To be honest it would be the smartest thing right now, but I not sure why I just feel uncomfortable doing so. Also, going up there with my friends and then me hitting an iorn is a little embarrassing! Dfreuter, thanks for the reply and encouragement! I truly love the game( I quit playing AAA baseball for golf) and I really care about golf. My club is closed due to renovation this year, and next year it is supposed to be the number 1 course in the state! I'm hoping this winter I can improve and go into next year starting fresh and strong! The coach is the high school golf coach, and two of the people he teaches were captins of varsity golf, and led the team to a state championship last year! So the results are there. What the plan this winter is- 1 hour and a half lesson a on a moniter and at least 2 hours of open practice in a moniter room. I had an evaluation there a week or two ago and he told me how we would change my swing and get me to my goals by the golf season! As for the game, I have done a similar game at a local par 30 course. Pick 2 iorns and a putter. Obviously it's easier at that course than a 6600 yd course, but it was fun! To "whatwouldtigerdo", up until very recently, my problem was pushing the ball. Nine out of ten times I would push slice it. Now, I try to over correct and not go right so I go left. If I go back to my old swing, I will be right most of the time. It's tough for me to get range time because my course is shut down so no range. I mostly only have the chance to hit balls before and after a round. I golf with my dad a lot which is very helpful because he is a great golfer (4 handicap) he gives me tips and things to work on. All in all, I think I just overthink things too much!!

I do try hitting my 3 wood or hybrid off the tee. Does the same thing as my driver. I'm taking lessons over starting in September so over the winter I will change my swing. Earlier this year. I could hit 80% fairways with each going about 270+. I took a week break in the end of July, came back and shot an 86(was somewhat happy) but then just started shooting about 90 every round. I played at a very nice country club with ny dad in Sunday, shot a 97! I couldn't believe it.

This is more if a rant than a complaint, but I'm just pissed off at golf right now. I'm 15, at a 12-2 handicap (slowly rising) but have just been playing crappy. This year my club is under renovation so I have no home course. I play at my friends course a lot tho, so I do get out a decent amount. I'd say at least twice a week, I golf at that course with them. I hit balls and chip for 2 hours, play 18 holes, then putt. But I play like garbage. About a month or two ago, u could shoot 85 Daily. Now I struggle breaking 90 on any given day. Today, I played 27 holes. Out of the 21 fairways that I hit a driver to, I hit a whopping 2!! This is ridiculous. I am just garbage off the tee. And theese aren't just first cut of rough misses, they are 20 yard push/pulls into deep trees and rough. My short game is the only reason I shoot somewhat ok. I'm just mad because I put in so much time and work but get so little out of it

Was playing at a nice country club, par 4 and I pulled my drive left. I had 155 to the green, big tree about 59 yards away and right in the line of the green. I played a fade/slice 7 iorn. Hit it high, cleared the tree on the left, and then started slicing. Landed on the left edge and rolled all the way to 10 feet. Lipped out for birdie of course

Wow. This is a hard decision! What is the best rangefinder for the price?

Hi, my birthday is in about a month and the only thing I really want is a golf gadget! I'm trying to decide between a bushnell laser, or a GPS watch. My concerns with a watch are that it's not accurate. A friend if mine bought a garmin, and it was up to 40 yards off? My concern with a laser is that I won't use it all the time(because if laziness to go to bag every shot), and if I'm in trees or not able to see the pin, I'll be unable to use. If the watch is accurate to

I recently took a lesson that changed my swing path. I was printing the club crazy inside causing a big push/slice. Today, my swing thought was outside, which caused me to go straight back, but my problem now was my down swing. For some reason I was pulling the pall left. Any idea why? It was only with my driver also

On the 3rd hole, short par 4, I had too much draw in my drive and it was headed for on, but hit a big tree and went into the middle of the fairway. I killed the drive, and was 135 out, front pin. Hit a 9 iron that was a little right, but hit a huge mound and rolled up for a tap in birdie!

Hey, I recently mad a change in my grip. I took a lesson and found it was too strong making My face closed throughout the swing. Now my irons are much more consistant, but my driver is not. Before I had a push, but not a slice. Now my shots are half slice half push with my driver. I've been working on not swinging inside which I thought would help, but I don't know what else to work on to get my tee shots straight/draw again

Yeah, on my home course there's a little red fox that likes to chill out in the driving range bunkers!

Was out for a friendly round of 18 and saw this guy. He looked really scared and I felt bad just leaving him there, but what could I do?!

Hello, my name is Charlie. I'm 15 years old from Minnesota and this is my second year being a serious golfer. I play about 4 rounds of 18 a week, and lately have been struggling with things that were recently my strong points. To start off, I'll share my clubs. I have a RBZ driver, Rbz 3wood, burner hybrid, Cleveland irons (not sure what model, they are a bit older), vokey wedges, and a nike drone putter. At the moment I'm a 12 handicapper, however lately I've been shooting around 90 because of a few things. My drives have a tendency to be pushed right, leaving me with tough approach shots from the trees. I also have been pulling My short irons (7-9,pw). I really am struggling with those two things ATM. Before. I would hit a 275 yd drive consistently in the middle of the fairway, and hit a great approach, and was able to shoot low 80s. No I'm stuck playing close to bogy golf
