  1. Shaft lengths can be "corrected" - what scares me are the tolerances on the loft and lie. I have heard anywhere from + or -1/2 degree to + or -1 degree on drivers. If that is the case, the 9 degree demo I hit may be 10 degree. When I buy the "same" club off the rack or the internet it may be 8 degrees. No wonder I can't hit the darn thing! With that in mind I try to buy the demo I hit and preferably outside not into a simulator which may not have been calibrated for a week. Anyone know what the tolerances are the manufacturers work to?
  2. Go with two more wedges. A 56 degree sand wedge, then get one to fill in the gap between that and your pitching wedge, probably a 50 degree. If you only do the 56 sand wedge you will end up with a 20 difference between your pitching wedge and the sand. If you leave yourself with that 20 yard gap you will find yourself in no man's land and swing too easy with your pw and hit behind the ball, or swing like a maniac with your sand wedge and blade it resulting in a low screamer that will go 200 yards.
  3. "Golfer's Lift Off" does a great job on the rubber grips, not cord or Winn. Spray on grip, let it sit for a couple of seconds and twist dry with a towel. An outfit in Illinois, Charter Products distributes it. Call them for someone near you who may sell it - about $7 for an 18 ounc can. 630-616-1922.
