    Damn a Hook

I am a little scared to weaken my grip any further (I have a neutral grip now)....when I was working with my coach to get rid of my slice I had a very strong grip. We worked together until he got my swing put together with a "Hogan-ess" swing plane and grip and it has been working wonderful for me except my fear of changing anything to accomplish a different ball path.

    Damn a Hook

I know i have a problem a many of golfers would love to have but... I have been working my but off for many a years to get rid of my slice....so a couple of years ago I cured my problem. Now I have nothing but a persistent hook; not a bad one...maybe 10 yards on a 230 yard drive. Now I am so used to swinging inside out that I can't get a fade. I am so scared to adjust my swing in that my slice will come back and it would no longer leave me. I can adjust my driver and straighten my ball path up and get a little fade but that doesnt help my swing; plus I cant do this in the middle of the round. I have tried opening my stance a little but all that gets me is a small hook little more left... Any suggestions Tim
  5. I think thats what I like the most
  6. Yep...and you dont hear those kind of things in the public. Nice post Dr.
  7. Stewart has always been my favorite golfer for many reasons; he played at Georgia Tech where my grades wasn't good enough to get into and I had to go into another engineering school, he is a fellow Georgian, he shares the same faith that I do and I believe him to be an all-around good family man, citizen, and supports his community etc....without no need for recognition. Anyway last week after hearing about something he did in the community I thought I would write him a letter and tell him how much I, and I thought maybe the public, felt about his contributions and forgot all about the letter. Then a week later (today) I received this in the mail with the contents (in the photo) in the mail. He could have just tossed the letter in the trash but in return he signed and sent this to me. I thought that was pretty cool. A lot of professional sports athletes wouldn't take the time to do this but I thought it says a lot about him and his beliefs and the way he feels about his fans. Thanks Stewart

  12. I am wanting to sell a set off clubs but dont know how much to allow for shipping in US. Does anyone know how much it cost to ship with USPS, UPS or Fedex. I will be shipping a full set of irons as well as a bag. Thanks Tim
  13. Thanks for the input guys...will have to try those out
  14. You would think with all the new technology my handicap would have dropped 12 points not INCREASED in 26 years of playing golf..LOL This is a photo I just seen on Taylormades Twitter page of the drivers of different eras. Taking into consideration I dont play everyday and dont have the body I once did in school, 0ne would think I would have at least stayed close to the same index with the new equipment...LOL
  15. I have a couple industrial driving range 5x5 mats but they are brutal on iron shafts and heads hitting off those hard mats; plus they dont give an accurate feed back on how well you are hitting the ball. Does anyone know of or more importantly, has tried or own a mat that can give a realistic fairway(and a possible rough) feeling shot. I have googled the internet and have found a bunch of companies that "promise" this but we all know about truth in advertisement. So I thought I would come to the board and ask if anyone has had any good ideas, encounters, or experience with this. Thanks Tim
  16. Why do you think the "Golf Galaxy" simulator was so far off?
  17. Was going to welcome you 'til I seen that Gator...LOL...GO DAWGS..LOL
  18. Welcome to the board...nothing like starting out watching your golfing equipment inventory grow!!!
  19. Most of those were straighter shots except for a couple extreme slices. The later in play it got and the more I realized the wider my backswing became the better my shots became (this is the first time I have been on the course this winter instead of the range or hitting into the pasture) so after the nerves wore off a little the better they felt... but... I havent been cutting or fading the ball all winter so I immediately started trying to tinker with my swing...then stopped my irrational thinking and started slowing my swing up a little and started hitting a little better...but I still couldnt straighten it out completely..(also the worse shots were when I was trying to shape a first few doglegs...plus nerves...plus rust...plus not really being good...LOL)...Thanks Erik
  20. I havent checked my index since last fall but since getting fit for my new clubs which I hadnt been fitted for the old ones, I can say I have seen a improvement. They changed my flex on my irons and driver and the loft of my driver. Although the yardage is 'bout the same as on the monitor, I think I hit it a little longer now (although I thought I was hitting it longer in the first place but now I know that was ego). I didnt pay anything at Golfsmith to be fitted 'since I purchased the clubs, but would not buy another set off the rack. Hope this helps. Tim
  21. To all the pros (and arm chair pros..LOL) why am I hitting it here.....? After 18 today you can see I hit it everywhere to the top and right of center...I cant even sneak up on it less I hit it on the heel (which didnt show with the shot off the heel today) Is this something I should be worried about and try to correct later or just worry about my game in general? (because I have to tell you that slight fade it creeping back in my bag and I dont like it (since I changed to the R9)
  22. Also do you think we will be able to just replace or head when a new years come out instead of the whole club?
  23. With nearly every driver maker now making adjustable heads when do you think irons will be next? Do you think in time we will buy all our clubs in components; i.e. heads, shafts, grips? I think that would be cool. I bet TaylorMade or Callaway will be the first.
  24. With the new TaylorMade R11 driver and woods coming out in Feb, do you think the TM R11 irons will soon follow and do you think they will make any significant changes to them? Who is waiting with anticipation like I am?
