  1. I just got back from a remote location so i am just now catching up on things. Without trying to sound too critical or bragadocious, Wie's finish seems typical of her. How many times has she been in the running and melted at the end. Before you start flaming me Rafi, hear me out. Her talent is phenominal and probably unmathed in history. A 16 year old girl competing on this level and being that close is nothing short of remarkable. But...(the proberbial but), she has always had problems finishing. My opinion is that she never really learned how to win. She skipped juniors, high school, college, and now she is sortof skipping the LPGA in order to try for the Grand Prize, winning a PGA event. That lack of experience in shutting down the competition and finishing an event is hurting her now. As talented as she is she has no chance of winning on the PGA tour now. If she had or does learn to win and finish a tournament she might develop that abilitiy. Look at two girls, Wie and Pressel. Morgan won everything at every level she has played. Last year's Women's Open was in her hands except for a fluke sandy by an unlikely player. Wie was in the lead starting that day but faded. Wie has way more talent that Pressel but has won a fraction of what she has. We may se Wie on the PGA tour or at a US Open one day. But she will have to learn how to beat somebody first.
  2. I don't want to talk about it...
  3. Yesterday my team shot a combined score of 119. It was a 4 man shamble with the lowest two net scores counting for the team. I also won 4 net skins. Came away with a healthy sum. My erratic driving did not help my team. Luckily we had a high school golf player who put it down the middle every time. I gave him $20 of my skin money.
  4. You are making two different arguments here. Your original post said she was good for the game and a perfect role model. Your rebuttal to my refutation of your original argument is she should go for everything she can today, carpe diem. Which is it? I do aggree with your second post. She should get as much as she can market herself for and laugh all the way to the bank. If some marketing wiz in some rich corporation want to throw a hundred million at her, hooray!! That is not, however, a good role model for teens nor is it good for the LPGA. 10 years from now who will get more in endorsements, Annika with more majors that carter has liver pills, or Michelle who has ZERO victories (based on current rate of victories/starts on every tour in the world). I happen to like the LPGA. My girlfriend is just starting to play and we watch the women together. Think how much more money would flow into the LPGA if Wie played regularly. She has undeniable and unique talent and is a major draw. She skipped the LPGA Kingsmill (the proverbial "5th Major") to play in some third rate Korean tour event in a quixotic attempt to make the cut in a men's event. Besides, if she played more LPGA events, you could see her on TV more often. BTW, you are the first person to tell me I sound like thier grandfather. I am only 42.
  5. ok raffy(if that is an acceptable nickname to your nickname), you are one sick puppy....
  6. RAf, I can't dissagree more. She is not good for the game. Right now she is a novelty show that sells tickets. As for a role model, she is encouraging young people to skip thier own level to chase an unatainable (for most of them) goal. She is like the high school or middle school kid who sees Lebron and thinks I don't need good grades, i can go straight to the NBA. She is really dissing the LPGA. By constantly seeking to play the PGA she is telling the women that they are not good enough for her. She would be more effective if she actually won something. She doesn't know how. If she makes it through qualifying and makes the US OPEN, more power too her, that is the legit way to do it. I don't think she has a snowball's chance.
  7. Thanks for the answer. To think that I always thougth "slope" meant how hilly the course was.
  8. http://www.rivercrossinggolfclub.com from the Gold (one step down from the tips) 70.9/126. But this begs a question. Is the forgiveness of a course represented in the course/slope rating? At RC if you are not in the fairway you are looking at double bogey because of the woods and hills of the Hill Country. At Laughlin AFB, there is almost no spot where one can't reach the green no matter how bad of a tee shot. If a course was short and flat but the fairways were 10 yards wide with rocks and water for rough, would that be refelcted in the numbers somehow?

    Logos Down?

Pet peeves... Not repairing ball marks and divots Not putting out (inside the leather is good) And most of all, ugly beer cart gilrs
  10. My local AFB course just started carrying Taylormade/Maxfli stuff and they had Black Max ball for $5 a sleeve. Hmmm, let's see, 5, 10, 15, 20... I bought the whole box. Should I tell them of thier mistake or just wait for the next box to be put on the shelf?
  11. usually plays down wind but when the wind is from the north, its especially tough. Miss it left and the slope kicks you into the woods. Miss it too far right and you are OB. No. 7 -- Par 3 Black: 202 yards Gold: 185 yards Blue: 147 yards Green: 130 yards Red: 125 yards This challenging par 3 leaves no room for error. The green is large and severely undulated with deep bunkers short and right. http://www.rivercrossinggolfclub.com...rse_layout.htm
  12. OBTW, how do you get the logos in your sig?
  13. Ball and or 3 wood are my best guesses. You should really try the TP satin wedges too. The Taylor made koolaid tastes real good!
  14. my new girlfriend is learning to play golf so we can spend more time together outdoors. Did i mention she has a killer bod too? I feel like Lou Gehrig.
  15. that's great!! I played for 18 years before I broke a hundred. Now I am pushing 90. Short game is the key. My goal on every hole is on in 3 and two putt(except par 3 of course). If bogey becomes your personal par, then you don't stress out on the tee shot so much. I will never be a tour pro, but if i can consistantly play to a sub 18 hcp, my golf dreams will be fufilled. Good luck and keep on playing!
  16. I used to like Sabatini. At the Texas Valero Open a couple of years ago I met his wife and inlaws and we followed them around for the whole day. They were nice people and from Texas, especially her dad. Then last year at the Shell Houston Open, I was at the autograph row where the players come out of the scoring tent. Many golfers took the time to sign multiple autographs, some staying until every thing thrust at them was signed. Sabatini, however, just brushed by ignoring everyone (he was not alone, Todd Hamilton could barely be bothered either.) As for the shirt, it was funny. As for Faldo, he was funnier.
  17. Shot 46 on the front Monday and 45 on the back yesterday. I finished double, triple, bogey so that is frustrating. Keep on plugging and i will break 90!!
  18. Dude, that is alot of golf. I hope you brought a massage therapist with you.
  19. sleepovers must be very special for you... Ok a bad joke. The fact remains that Wie has a million dollar swing and a ten cent head. She is the Nuke LaRuche of womens golf. Maybe she should play in garters and breathe through her eyelids.
  20. I have a bet with a buddy of mine that she won't win twice on the LPGA this year. Although she has phenominal talent, she has never learned how to win. Unlike Morgan Pressel, who had won everything at her level before she jumped to the pros, Wie has wasted her time making political statements, IMHO. And unless you are under the leagl drinking age, thinking she is "cute" is strangely perverted. I think Natalie Gulbis his hot, but she is over 21.
  21. I play what i find in the woods. Since i joined a private club, i play much better balls. Rich people don't chase their ProVs in the woods. I did buy a dozen MC Lady Precepts the other day for $10. Nice ball for the money. Didn't Golf Digest do an article lately that said the best bargain in golf is the cheap golf ball? The performance difference between a two piece ball that cost around $20 and the 4 piece ball that cost $40 is not 100%. Also most golfers don't have the swing speed to fully realize the advantages of the high end balls.
  22. Hi everyone. I just found this forum and joined. I am an Air Force instructor pilot in Del Rio, TX.
