I saw the thread on "hitting into the drink". Which I thought was odd, as I'm sure anyone who has played at least a couple of rounds has hit into the water.
But I was wondering how many here would confess to throwing a club into the 'drink'? If so, which club and why?
Myself, a 9 iron about 15 years ago. It was on a par 4 and from the tee, the "drink" (lol) was to the right and about 120 yards in front of the green. But it was not really in play unless you sliced your tee shot. Which I did. But the ball somehow managed to stay just on the edge of the water, and I really wound up with a decent 2nd shot back over the water to the green. IIRC, I was having a rather frustrating round and I was thinking of how lucky I was not to be in the water.
So then I topped the next shot into the water. My buddies laughed. I flung that 9 iron halfway across that pond. When it made a big splash, several people playing the other hole stopped and looked at me like I had lost my mind. It was a stupid thing to do, no doubt.
But hey, at least I was playing with some cheap clubs at the time.
