  1. Just throwing out a prayer at this one but here is my concept behind this. If I am not mistaken the standard length of irons was modified within the past couple of years (Assuming you didn't get fitted for the new irons). You said "old" when describing your Tommy Pena irons so im assuming "old" refers to a date prior to the new standards. Try comparing the length of each iron. An iron that is too long is definitely a possibility when considering the reasons for the "fat shot". Hope this helps. If this is the case you will have to either spend lots of time modifying your swing to fit the longer shafts on the irons or spend money to get them fitted to your swing (i'd recommend the fitting to take lots of variables out of the mishits... not just the fat ones ) Travis
  2. im looking to get a box of titleist perma tech golf gloves, does anyone know how many gloves are in a box? I'm trying to figure out the price and how much i'd save thanks in advance travis
  3. I gotcha covered right here http://www.cameroncollector.com/foru...pic,184.0.html this is a site that is very informational about scotty camerons. This link is a step by step process of how to change a paintfill, can it get any easier? travis
  4. do you think that bidder could be connected with say titleist or the tour? Maybe they don't want it out yet so they are willing to pay whatever they have to, to keep it our of joe golfers hands?
  5. I cut cups at a country club, and we use a flag stick from the collar as a guide line for distance. I think its about a flag stick and a half, but we push the limit because ball marks, and old cups populate most of the other areas we can cut cups. So next time the cup position doesn't fit your likings, check to see if it is atleast a flag stick, if it a flag stick away you are just S.O.L.
  6. I love cleaning my clubs, and I have got the cleaning down to a science. I have this thing that my mom used when she painted, but it broke so I took it from her. It is a little wooden handled thing with metal tips on both ends.(here is what it is http://www.misterart.com/store/view....ogle&WT.srch;=1 ) Any how I grinded one end off to make it a point. (Be careful, I don't want to hear anyone getting stabbed) I Left the one end the same (its good for the numbers on the bottom) It works like a tee, but the point doesn't wear out so its really nice, if you make it pointy enough it wont do any damage to the face because it will just touch the groove. Then once I get that out, I dip the club back in the water and use a tooth brush (preferably not the one you use at the moment) after that you dip it in again and wipe it dry. I don't know how worried you are about making your grooves deeper or scratching the face by accident. Also if you have any rust on the face toothpaste and a little yellow scrubber with the coarse stuff on the back works great. Sorry for being so long winded but this should help you. tburk p.s. why did you change irons again if you loved the Taylor Mades so much?
  7. With P.U.D I am willing to ask, but what if the people in the pro shop have never heard of it? The discount is not really offered to all employees, but I know the assistant pro pretty well. So if I decide I am going to ask about these irons, do I call Titleist if the pro shop never heard of it, or do I just let it go and pay the price originally stated? I am so glad you guys brought this up cause that would be awesome if I could get even more of a discount on these irons. (now I am starting to sound cheap) Pretty much to sum it up in one sentence, is P.U.D well known or is it a fairly well kept secret? thanks for all the info tburk
  8. I am almost sure I am going to get 735.cm's as of now. There are a couple of different clubs available for me to try, but I really would like to get these irons. The only thing I still am up in the air about is whether to go Satin Stainless or Chrome 1025. I already said how I didn't really care for the wear marks on the face of the chrome sets ( I noticed them on the Nike Pro Combos I was looking at), but there was a guy somewhere that I read that the stainless could pit and get ugly. With spending this much money at my age (I am 17) I want to make sure these irons last through college and look nice without getting too beat up. I have noticed with sets of older 690cb or even 690mb on ebay that the bag chatter really gets the best of the mild carbon. Are these dents and dings as well as wear marks on the face mainly from repeated use ball after ball on the range? The reason I am so worried is because the 845s I have now aren't really too bad after 4 or 5 years of use except for the paint rubbing off in the cavity. The Chrome definitely are head and shoulders above the satin when they come out of the box, but which are going to look better after a year or 2 or maybe even 4? I will get range privileges at my job so my irons could get a pretty serious beating which could bring the wear on the face as early as this season. Any experiences with Titleist irons that were made of mild carbon. thanks tburk32
  9. well with the shaft cost, i was just going on the price on tgw.com and assumed that would be how much it is when i go through everything else. I was planning on getting fitted regardless, but i was wondering on the process of changing the lie if there is a bend/ crease in the shaft or if there are different heads or if they bend the hosel all the way down to where it meet the face. I saw pictures on ebay for a set of KZG i believe and the guy said that there was a bend mark on a few of the irons and i was wondering if that was normal tburk
  10. I am in the hunt for new irons as of now. I am a 17ish hcp. but not because of my iron striking. I currently have a set of Tommy Armour 845 Oversized irons. My ball flight is a draw to a rather huge hook. I do have the regular flex shafts, and that paired with the offset on these irons im starting to wonder. I think my swing is fairly solid and my swing speed with a 3 iron is about 100ish, but if I do hit a bad shot it is usually fat or thin. I don't think I have ever hit a slice with an iron. I am currently looking at Titleist 735.CM and 775.CB. I have read the previous posts on both these irons and it really hasn't helped. I am working at a golf course and my be able to get the set at cost whatever that price may be. With both sets being progressive, the 6 irons that I will be demoing will both be fairly similar other than the offset. This is where I'm confused because the major difference is in the short irons. Once I do decide which irons I get, how do I justify spending $80-120 on rifle shafts (either project x or regular) Everything seems so confusing with these irons. Not to be long winded but I was wondering if I had to get these irons flattened or more upright, would there be a bend in the hosel or is it a not noticeable change. If I do get the 735's I would most likely get the satin stainless finish. I want my irons to look as nice as possible for as long as possible. I don't really care for the rub marks that chrome irons get on the face and the mild carbon seems to dent fairly easily from bag chatter. If anyone has these irons and is willing to give me any info on either club (even if I didn't ask about it), or even other suggestions I am open minded. thanks in advance, tburk
