  1. Well Saturday was a great example of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Warmed up on the range and was hitting the irons better than I have ever. The range is small and good not hit driver (not allowed). Got on the course and while I did hit some good shots it was no where close as to the range. Hitting off a mat is way easier than the course. My putting on this course was terrible averaging 2.6 putts per hole. Ended up shooting 111 with a 10 on a par 5, a 9 on another and an 8 on the last par 5. I was putting for par more times than in the past but was 3 putting more than ever. I used my Game Golf for the first time and liked it. missed tagging a few shots and wished there was a way to add penalty shots on the course. But other than that it worked great.
  2. Someone asked about the clubs I use. I have a set of Taylormade Rocketballz Irons 3-SW with Reg. Graphite Shaft. Rocketballz 2 Drive 10.5 loft, Cleveland 808 3 wood and a Cobra hybird. Thanks for the responses. Gipper I will check out the thread you mentioned. Going to play a different course today much longer and more water hazards, should be a challenge would be great to break a hundred but I will be happy with my normal 104-108 score since this is a much harder course.
  3. Osmond, I am impressed. One for having the will power to practice at the range and not play a round. And 2 breaking a 100 in your 2nd round on the course. I can hit the ball much better at the range, but once I get on the course it is like a different person hitting the ball.
  4. Thanks for the responses!! Currently I am hitting my driver 185-210, can not hit a 3 - wood and my iron play is terrible. Just now getting to hit 50/50 irons in the air and not a worm burning shot. I am 51 and not the most flexible guy around so distance is an issue. Lakeview is a short course par 70 about 5600 yards, with very small greens, and the putting surface is terrible. But it is only a mile from my house so it is convenient. I have been playing about 27 holes a week and hitting the driving range a couple of times. Taking lessons on evolvr that is helping, but just not making the progress I was wanting, I may be just to impatient.
  5. Having just started to play golf about 4 months ago, my goal is to break 100. My question to the group is, when you started how long did it take you to break 100. And how often did you play during that period?
  6. Played 18 holes at our local Municipal course. Greens are small and not very good. But it is just a mile from my house so it is convenient to play especially while learning to play. I have only been playing about 4 months. Great weather for Jan. (except for the wind). Shot 107 just an average round for me. My goal is to break 100 before summer April. My driving was off as I was slicing the ball pretty bad, and I usually hit straight or a draw. Not sure why I starting slicing. Putting was so-so only had 1 3 putt. Hit my irons better than I ever had (but that is not saying much , chipping was pretty good, if I can get my short game better I think I can hit my goal. evolvr lessons have helped.
  7. Well mine should be here tomorrow and hope to play Sunday or Monday.
  8. Did not take it as criticism, just did not see the issue. Learn something new everyday, so it has been a good day. Please take any opportunity to help me learn the game.
  9. Not to get this thread off topic, but how does taking a practice swing after hitting my "for real" swing affect anything? I only so a practice swing if my 1st shot is not good. So I try again, but I only play the first shot. If this is against the rules I did not know this and have played with others that do this. Of course the people I play with are just casual golfers and don't keep up with handicap. Thanks for the info.
  10. Not sure what you mean by Posting the round? As a newbie I do not track rounds for actual handicap rounds. I use an app on my phone to track scores and it figures a handicap. When I hit mutiple shots I only count the 1st shot for score and hit others just to try and get more practice in hitting that particular shot. At this point I am just trying to learn how to strike the ball, at the age of 51 really don't have any ambitions other than trying not to embarrass myself when I do play with others.
  11. Walked 18 today. Played the worst round in a while No pars and only one double bogey. (The rest were double or worst). I enjoy playing alone and today was a pleasant day to walk. Just about the only one on the course, so I took time to hit multiple shots. Even hitting on the range before I went out, couldn't hit a drive or a iron so I knew it was not going to be good. I think it was a guilty conscience for skipping out of the office to play on a Monday! Only been playing for 4 months, so trying to get as many rounds in as I can.
  12. Just picking up the game after 25 years of not playing. I often play alone. I enjoy playing with others but I live about a mile from our public course so often squeeze in 9 when I can. Since I am pretty bad after 10 weeks of playing I feel more comfortable playing alone
