  1. I'm not quite sure what you are skeptical of. If you want to boil it down to the brass tacks the only relevant part of the entire swing is what goes on in the hitting zone. Look at Furyk, look at Trevino, look at Chi Chi, look at Bobby Jones and on and on. And not relatedly, I'm trying to sit through commercial law class with the chick next to me chewing gum like a horse. She smells like she douched her entire body with some rancid cheap perfume to boot. Good gravey.
  2. Yeah. I experienced the same thing when I read and attempted to apply Hogan's principals from The Five Fundamentals. The Plane Truth opened my eyes to a controversy that shouldn't really be. I am a 2 planer and I alway have been and there is no good reason to try and go through a Tiger-like swing reformation. To that end the book, or if not the book itself, just the awareness of the concept should help out. If you're "not upright enough" maybe you are upright enough and its the case that you more naturally have a one-plane swing. You shouldn't feel like that's a sin or something because you read about a different set of principals that have you all screwed up.
  3. Yeah. You play to be a hero when you're behind coming into 18, not when you're up a stroke. For all the debate and Phil hate, you still have to concede that he's among the absolute best players in the world. This season is not over and this is probably not the last time Phil will be headed into 18 at the Open in a position to win. I thought he'd reached a point where he had control of the mental aspect of the game but apparently he needs to harden some still. He's been winning majors because his mental game has increased and I think he'll continue to toughen. The reality is, Phil is hard to beat if isn't defeating himself.
  4. Read the Plane Truth For Golfers. There are two fundemental extremes in swing plane theory: single or flat plane ala Hogan and two plane or steep ala Tom Watson. Work accordingly. http://www.writestuffautographs.com/...ts/golf129.jpg http://www.brothersjudd.com/reviews/images/hogan.jpg
  5. I think anyone who says Phil is better than Tiger in any way is part of a racist right-wing conspiracy designed to minimalize and marginalize the accomplishments of blacks and other ethnic minorities in sports. No doubt a White Sox fan too. Kidding.
  6. Yeah, as is clearly demonstrated by Tiger's uncanny ability to never break down under pressure vis a vi his great performances at this Open. Um hum.
  7. That's your pet peeve huh? Might be a good idea to focus on something different for a while.
  8. Furyk blew it but Monty REALLY blew it--aside from Mickelson of course. Monty was sitting in the middle of the fairway on 18 at 4 over. He stood there for 10 minutes or something with one club in his hands and then at the last second he changed clubs and just went up and swung. Total mental breakdown. Furyk had a tourrette's moment over a 4 foot put. Total mental breakdown. Phil. Well, whatever. I still love him but he gave the tourney away. Ogilvie is the only guy who deserves credit. He held it together at the finish, although he probably perceived a lot less pressure than was actually on him at the time. My hats off to him.
  9. You Phil haters are ridiculous. Its always extremes with people. Tiger sicophants.
  10. Why Phil? WHYYYYYYYYYY??????? I was practically yelling at my TV hit a 6 iron off the tee, 6 iron to the green, chip and put and you win!!!! At worst its a playoff. Unbelievable.
  11. Wow. Leader board is getting tight at the top.
  12. Looking like some better scores are going to get posted today. 4 players under par (but no one past 14) so far today.
  13. What the hell? I would guess the "story" about Phil and Tiger in the locker room, if its true, is in the nature of competitive ribbing. That's pretty normal, funny really. Where are you coming from on your comment?
  14. Wow. Not looking good at the 6th either. When do Phil and the other guys at the top tee off?
  15. Montey under par!! Boy, this is ugly.
  16. I agree although Tiger hasnt teed off yet. Phil just finished at even as well. Veejah, Weir, Montey, etc. all about to finish right around there (+1 right now). Good stuff.
  17. Furyk at -1. Phil just drained a birdie put from about 15 to get to even. I think Veejah is still even or +1 This is the crew we want to see playing well. Tiger's off in a bit.
  18. In law school. Formerly an underling at Wachovia. Of course, I'll just jump ship on this whole lawyering thing if I don't like it and joing the PGA Tour.
  19. Vijay could be right there. Goosen is tough. Els could very well make a come back. Tiger is always a threat to win and right now Phil is the best player in the world. I gotta go with Phil. Sounds simple but it'll probably come down to who stays in the fairway/first cut the most and who's short game is going. Putting wins tourneys and you have to like the chances of the best putter in the game--Phil. Starts iin 15 minutes!!!
  20. Haha, well, personally I don't find much on the Lesbian's Tour sexy either...
  21. You may as well have said the Champions Tour.
  22. There would be nothing I could imagine more exciting in golf than Tiger and Phil as the final pair on Sunday.
  23. I'd definitely do it. Just go to the range every so often to get visual feedback. Use your backyard range for the feeback that comes from the strike itself.
  24. You just need to hit them. For me, it makes no discernable difference and I happen to prefer a smaller, less circus clown looking club.
  25. Lefty is going to smoke Ti gg er.
